Woodturning a Bowl of Tulips - Maple with Epoxy Resin
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 мар 2019
- Spring has arrived so I thought I’d celebrate by making a bowl with some springtime flowers. I use a router and some resin to inlay Tulips into the bottom of a turned maple bowl. I also use the natural grain of the wood to make the tulips appear to be growing out of the ground.
This was another enjoyable project to make, and I hope you like it!

Rod, another beautiful bowl with some expert routing. We subscribers are the lucky ones; we get to look over the shoulder of a master turner and artist. You give US the inspiration and encouragement to see what can be done in turning. Thanks!
Thank you very much, Paul!
We may not say so very often, but we appreciate it very much when you thank us as subscribers. I think most of us, as I am, are amazed at the pieces you make. Keep them coming, and God Bless. Anchors away!
Thank you! Semper Fi!
If we subscribers are the fuel that lights your fire, then it's your fire that warms our hearts. Thanks for sharing.
Nicely said, Glen, thank you!
For such a talented man you sure are a humble one, that’s a rarity these days
You, my friend, are the Bob Ross of woodturning. Your voice, your wording and of course you skill, is just relaxing and makes one eager to make some shavings!
You're very kind, thank you!

Friday afternoon in Germany, weekend is coming! I am waiting for your latest upload, Rod. You are my starter for the weekend at my workshop. Most of your work is far from my possibilities, but you always spending new ideas and shows, how to do it. Thank you so much for it! - And I also thank you, showing my little artwork to your subscribers.
Happy Saturday! Thankyou very much Paul, and it was my pleasure to show your work!
I know this is an older video but I just had to say that tulips are my favorite flowers
I enjoy watching and rewatching your videos
Gorgeous!!! What a lovely project to mark the beginning of Spring...my favorite time of the year.
Love all of the subscribers projects as well. Thank you for sharing such beauty.
Thanks very much! 😊 My pleasure to share amazing subscriber projects!
Once again great inspiration from a veteran. Your site has inspired many new wood turners including myself. Thank you for the insights and most of all your service to our country.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
I love the hint of tulip shape to the bowl as well as the picture of the tulips! They're my favorite flowers! My husband used to plant tulip bulbs for me in the fall so that I would have tulips growing for our anniversary at the end of March. (When we lived in a place where tulips grow.)
Great work!
Thank you very much! They're my wife's favorite as well, and way up on my list too 😊🌷
Absolutely beautiful Rod yet another master class in turning and with the router. Can't wait to see what's coming next 👍👍👍
I had a tree service illegally dump a load of cut elm on property I recently purchased...in the dark of night.... my next couple projects will be using that wood dumped by that unethical company. I don't like the mess, but also don't mind the wood... 🤔
Sweet subject for spring and what a beautiful piece of wood. The light coming through the bowl looks stunning.
Thanks very much! 😊
Rod when you light these turnings from behind it is the highlight of the video for me.It just says it all. I think this is one of the best backlit turnings you have done. At least the part where you show lit up. It looks so real. I also like seeing the close up of normal time turning. Tells me I should do it more.
Another well done beauty.
Thanks for everything brother,
Gary
Thank you Gary, I appreciate the feedback! Maybe I should use the light more during the project... Thanks brother
I like the grain in that piece, very nice. When you light it from the bottom, that's cool too. As always, I dig it, nicely done.
Thank you very much!
Beautiful! As you were shaping the bowl, I was so excited to see the tulip shape evolving. I love watching the development of these bowls! You are so talented. Thanks for sharing your talent!
Thank you very much!
Another good looking bowl sir and as my grandfather used to say "If you're not happy with one lip you can always have two!"
LOL so true 😁 thank you!
You make some of the prettiest bowls i have ever seen!!!! Can't wait for next week!! Keep-em- coming.😄😄💘
Thanks so much!

Interesting process. Many other possibilities. I watched several of your videos yesterday and commenting on them tonight. Spring is a favorite season of mind and Mom loved tulips. S/F

Thanks very much! 😊
Once again amazing work, keep them coming, and thanks again fir your service
Just what we have come to expect from you. Another work of art. Beautiful bowl!
Thank you very much!
Woodturning offers access to so many paradoxes, one being : « How can I be both deliberate and smooth here and now? » A metaphysical question to live from and a fine way to understand the art of turning.

That's a very nice way of looking at it, and true!
Love this one too! A few more of these, and you could cover each season, Halloween and perhaps a summer one with a boat and water type design. Fall is easy with all colors of that season, ideas are endless. Great job, you've got the turning addiction down!
Thanks very much! I have winter spring and fall covered, Halloween too...and St Patrick's day 😊 More coming too, my friends! It's a healthy addiction I'm happy to feed, lol!!! Thanks again for stopping by!
I really like that shape. The inlaid tulips look great.
Thanks very much! 😊
Another beautiful bowl will done Rob. Thank got for bringing us along. Semper fi and keep aiming high.

@@RHumphrey Good job bro. I just found and subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work bro... appreciate your talent. Regards from Kuala Lumpur.
Beautiful work, thank you for sharing.
Thanks very much! 😊
You work is always so beautiful thank you for showing us
Thank you, I appreciate that!
I really enjoy your work; both the turning and the explanation. You have a clear and direct presentation, and your voice is easy to listen to. I appreciate that there is no annoying music covering up the shop sounds or teaching; no clickbait or being hit with constant ads, just a nice, straightforward turning channel. Sometimes I watch to learn, and sometimes I watch just to relax at the end of the day and turn vicariously.
I also really like how you dedicate a section to your subscribers; that's such a nice touch that makes your channel genuinely feel like a community (I like to think of it kind of like a community shop -- with you as the shop guru everybody keeps coming to on their projects). Thanks for what you do.
I like the mental image you've painted with the shop, it sounds nice! And thanks so much for the feedback on my presentation! I try to focus on the project itself rather than me, and I'm glad it plays that way. I know the adds are probably a pain at times though, but they're all I have to support my channel really, at least for now...but it's good to hear they're not getting in the way. I'm so happy to be able to show what my subscribers are making too! Just a small way of showing my gratitude. Thanks very much!
Incredible beautiful!
Thank you very much!
💖 another beauty
Thank you very much!
