- In this video I show you where the location of all 4 of the speakers are in your 3rd gen camaro firebird fbody. I am changing them with the Planet Audio TRQ462 and TRQ693. These are the sizes that will fit your f-body 6x9 and 4x6. I also go over which wires are the positive and negative so you don't blow a speaker like the one in the video was. I also mention that little light that is above your radio that only turns on with your light and its size. This will also show you how to remove the top of your dash to get to your front speakers

Note the rear speaker sizes are for a T top or solid top not a convertible. I didn't pay attention and now I have extra speakers

What size are the convertibles?
What size are in the rear of the convertible? I assume the fronts are still 4x6s?

When I swapped mine for Alpine years ago, it seems that the factory thought it was cool to wire the fronts in the opposite polarity as the rears, at least that was how my 90 IROC was done. If you notice bass cancelation, where the bass improves when you adjust the fader from all front to all back, that would be what's going on. Be prepared to have to reverse either the fronts or back wiring. Even though speakers are marked as having + and - connections, it really doesn't matter how you do them as long as they are all the same to keep the phase matched between them. Different speaker manufacturers have their own ideas about positive and negative. The way to check and get them matched is by using a small battery (AA cell) and see if the woofer part pulls in or pushes out when you temporarily touch the battery contacts to the wiring. YMMV

i could tell you had the ERS sound system by the fiberglass baffles in the 6x9 sail panel holes, as i have taken parts from a lot of those cars. but i am unaware of that little light under the centre air vent. what does that illuminate? is it ambient lighting?

Very informative and you take your time explaining everything, best of all no blaring radio in the background, Ive had my dash out numerous times and have the same issue with the same 2 screws, not a big deal, but will use this video as a guide to change my 2 fronts out as one is now shot, any advice on a good reliable set with some power behind them? Perhaps a set made in Japan as they are known well for audio set ups
This is a really goofy question but the speaker mounting brackets for the dash do you know what the size of the body screws are that mount the bracket to the car are?
Just wondering will those light bulbs fit all three of the bulbs that go on when you open the doors?

Hey, I have a 92 firebird with a speaker or two out. Would it be better to just replace those or all of them at the same time? Also my dash is little cracked where screws go in should be not remove my dash to be safe?
I would replace all of the speakers, so you have an even sound. You can remove the dash, just make sure when you put it back together don't over tighten the screws to make the cracks worse.
@@JRobling Yes and dont drop them down the heater vents, I came way too close to that, magnetic screwdriver caught it just in time as it was wobbling on the end lol

RiskyAnimal it's super easy to do, I'm going to do a video on it eventually when I get to mine. you take off the hatch panelling where it latches and you can see the motor
