The first time I heard a reporter genuinely responding like a human to a horrible tragedy. I give my prayers, love, and condolences to the families of those killed, and those injured.

What are cameras gonna do to prevent shootings
They're not gonna prevent they're going to catch the shooter
Most the times when s school shooting happens they oddly don't have footage of it or the cameras were taken down right before
Cameras are used to analyze the scene to see how they can stop or prevent it from ever happening and to gather evidence. If the shooter goes to a specific person and spends more time on them vs the rest of the other victims then they can investigate to see how that individual may have been a factor.
We need to make a petition to get retired veterans looking for jobs to be stationed at school during school time
Clearly they didn’t have enough posted otherwise this wouldn’t have happened

I went to high school here it’s a massive building in a very nice area high to middle class. In schools in the Detroit and Pontiac area there are metal detectors but not here. Countless entries he could have stashed the weapon before hand under say some rubble or snow and simply push a door open and retrieve. It’s absolutely a tragedy and I feel absolutely terrible for the families of the victims. But it’s nearly impossible to detect something like this, what are they supposed to strip search all 1000 students before each day or class. Not a conspiracy not a lack of security just a lack of love and compassion for a child who was obviously deeply troubled.
Monkey Savant it’s much faster to take a temperature and look at someone’s face than frisking for a concealed weapon. Use common sense
@Monkey Savant you can hide a weapon literally anywhere, there’s literally zero chance a school could search throughly through the belongings and persons of thousands of students every day.

They can't. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prohibits the use of U.S. military forces to perform the tasks of civilian law enforcement such as arrest, apprehension, interrogation, and detention unless explicitly authorized by Congress.
Maybe it's time to change that law the way they want to do when it comes to abortion, 1st, 2nd Ammendments etc.
Sadly the focus in cases like these always shifts to disarming the population by implementing more gun laws. The problem is and alway will be, criminals do not follow the law. Limiting law abiding citizens will only broaden the field for those like this young man bent on breaking the law, harming others.
It is certainly extremely saddening to know 3 small kids were killed, others not much older injured. I can hope the focus on this remains on what we lost, the grief of their families, not used for political purposes.
Most mass shootings are committed with legally purchased firearms.
The higher count shootings are primarily down with AK 15
Mass, possibly, but don't twist the issue into a liberal pretzel. Most gun shootings are illegal by criminals. Guns don't show up all by themselves. Maybe the criminals should stay in prison.

You could literally just put it in your backpack, toss it over the fence, go through and collect it prison style. You people demanding things out of fear are so strange. You can tell its just reactionary emotion because trust me that will not stop anything and nothing you people bring up does. Ban guns, bring metal detectors, put up signs. None of these stops someone with an illegally owned firearm. You do realize they could start shooting outside the school then just walk through the metal detector 😂? The real issue is the stressors of modern society and the lack of proper parental foundation. Due to modern weapons and these stressors there are cities in the world with a higher murder rate than medieval europe and early america by far which was surprisingly low. Modern society stress, its parenting, and lack of treatment of developing peoples psychological needs issues or even giving them good structure and support are the primary reasons for this. And it will not stop until its confronted
In this country kids are not getting any discipline and consequences at home so they simply do whatever they they wish . One such example is this incident kids committing Mass Murder . This is disgusting and heart breaking .
Solution : (1) Better gun control , some people should not own a firearm . (2) Discipline starts at home , sometimes as a parent you need to bring it back to basic , so that the child knows who is boss and there is a red line that should not be crossed . When kids have no boundaries , they commit crimes , they have sex and commit rapes , they take drugs and drink alcohol many of which happen only in this country . This is unacceptable .
Not every student shooting is a case of bullying. Think back a couple weeks when the kid shot a teacher and students. Not sure if anyone on here saw this but they interviewed a Oxford student who stayed home today because he had heard of this possibly happening today but my question would be why didn’t he say anything or report this to the authorities or school faculty or his parents…
Nothing new here or in this place and time. I was in High School in the mid 60's and always was afraid I would get beat to death with fists, feet, weapons such as pipes and baseball bats and whatever other handy weapons. I was a small kid in HS, I weighed only 116 lbs. and was only 5 foot 5 inches tall so I was marked by the scumbag big guys.
So sad for u. I hope u grew up to be big and no one pushes u anymore.
Children die on the streets of Detroit all the time. Where is your tearful lecture about how tragic that is? Do you only trot it out for special occasions?
@@OAT86 The streets should be just as safe as a safe school. No excuses.
Put armed security or armed officers in the schools, keep an armed security guard or officer near the most crowded areas of the school i.e. the cafeteria. It’s something that should have been done right after columbine why hasn’t this been done?
Cost maybe
Do you really think the government cares enough to pay for that?
because it takes money which means raising taxes which means Republicans and Libertartians will vote it down
How about sticking to facts and the letter of the law and stop allowing democrats to let criminals run rampant in the name of justice. Know justice! Know peace!

Love the way this lady reported this.
1. My heart goes out to the people affected by this horrific event.
2. The reporter did an excellent job at reporting what transpired.
3. There were no shootings during covid when everyone had their kids do schooling from home.
IDK about you, but I think you all should put your kids back into zoom school.
I hope nothing like this ever happens to my school

This is a tragedy, a gun killed people but only half as many as were killed by a rogue Ford SUV, an "accident".
When will we get smart and place ARMED security in our schools? How many more victims do we need?
They did have a armed cop, That's why it was stopped so fast.
Grew up in the neighboring town, this is just sickening I wouldn't have ever thought Oxford would have a school shooting
Respect to that reporter for being so blunt !!!! Prayers are with the families 🙏
PLEASE, Blame the kid who did this and the parents of shooter not the gun.
I feel for that guns family. So sad, tots and pears.
@Sweet T Mean E well it’s facts bud
@Sweet T Mean E anytime gun laws are brought up gun sales skyrocket
@Sweet T Mean E besides taking the “guns” won’t hardly put a dent in overall gun crimes in this country, since most gun crimes are committed with stolen guns by criminals who don’t care about gun laws, like the kid who did this today, he stole a gun that he shouldn’t have and used it to commit a horrendous act of violence, nothing would have stopped him, no gun? Yea he’d probably just commit an act of arson or drive a car into the building like what happened last week at that parade
@Sweet T Mean E definitely
Some people talk about guns and others about the security. I think its all just a massive failure of the school system to change and take care of children. I dropped out of a very wealthy school just because i was drowning in homework and bad social interactions, and i knew it was all ultimately useless. Its like a mental meat grinder. Not a good place for young developing minds
It’s not the schools responsibility to “change and take care of children.” That responsibility USED to belong to the parents but since we have absolutely no accountability anymore, the “parents” send their kids off and expect some staff member making $31,000/year to raise them for them.
That's what happens when the government runs education.
Another shooting in a gun free zone?
We never had shootings in Cuba, where I grew up. We had stabbings, bricks and rocks, machetes, wood planks, rebar and of course our hands and feet.
There were many times I wished I had a gun for protection.
Here in US some seemingly smart people think the weapon is the problem.
Haha, this is probably the most accurate statement I've seen. Everyone tries to blame the tool, not the tool using the tool.
Rebar attacks XD. You can't make this stuff up.
I hate how numb I’ve become to school shootings. It crazy because it just seems like a another regular day. Like someone can just shoot up a school because they had a “bad day” it’s crazy. Prayers to the families and victims they did not deserve this at all. I hope they punish the hell out of the shooter. I don’t want to hear he’s just a kid who made a mistake, when he picked up that gun and decided to kill his peers he made a choice and has to be held accountable for that!!!!!
Heart breaking news! This is a nation wide tragedy. My daughter who’s about to be in high school next year came up to me and told me about the shooting. 😓😓😓😓😓. We will be praying from Texas
It takes a good guy with a camera to film a bad guy with a gun...
We could allow teachers that wanted to keep and bear arms, but we wouldn't get the "tragic" footage and less likely to make a high score actually stopping the violence.
History shows that good guy with gun is bad and bad guy with gun is good. Just have to look at Kyle Rittenhouse. Bad guy won and probably helped cause this cause of glorifying bad guys with guns.
Nah, you would get funny situations like a teacher shooting themselves in the buttcheek when they accidentally drop their gun in the bathroom. Likewise, kids are mischievous enough already, why give them more access to guns via the teacher? More guns are how we got here, not really sure how we get out at this point, but ya know, guns are pretty cool, to be honest.
@@cieloscuro88 Everyone at my school had guns in their trucks (all unlocked, right in the parking lot), we didn't have any shootings. We still had fights, but nobody used them (if they had, they would be so severely outgunned, in fact I can't think of a single police officer that could beat our average shooter at school, everyone hunted and some people like I was, were on the shooting teams).
So, in a school with more firearms than students in a typical hunting season day within 2 minute walking distance, you're seriously going to say that making everyone easy defenseless targets with absolutely no hope of defending themselves is somehow safer than the place I went to that nobody was shot or harmed by firearms? Also to add, you could also bring your gun inside too, like if you were wanting to go to your friends house after school and hop on the bus it was fine.
Police are typically more incompetent than most general population when it comes to firearm safety, so unless you're advocating for even MORE defenselessness by removing guards or police too, then you'd clearly see there is a benefit to having adults armed (and most of the teachers at that school knew how to shoot better than most cops)
@@tristanrandall5893 Kyle isn't a good guy.
@@lenfer1607 I don't think he is a good guy. It was a joke that Republicans think all idiots with a gun that kill others and view guns as toys are good guys. Its the republican belief that a good guy with a gun can do more than cops.
Everybody needs to pass through a metal detector before you get into a school. Cameras are good but metal detectors are better
These schools are huge. I went to one with metal detectors there is always a way around them depending on how determined you are. We need to create environments where they aren't needed and listen to our kids. I'm reading on social media that everyone knew this was going to go down today, but the school didn't do much to prevent it.
If you truely care about children, dont let this distract you from ghislaines trial.
That's is what the Kenosha BS trial was trying to keep people from seeing. I noticed under ovomit...Every 3 to 4 months they have a school shooting. I don't remember even one under Trump.

Can you just imagine if the teachers were well trained in how to handle such situations and were allowed to conceal carry in the school?!? That guy would be Swiss cheese and that’s that! Now all we have to look at are horrifying videos of things that could have been prevented no thief or terrorist is afraid of video surveillance, they are afraid of a loaded weapon!
Lmao bro shut up. This is such an idiotic take. Adding more guns to the situation is not going to help, it will only make it worse. Teachers shouldn’t have to be trained to use deadly force, they should be trained to teach.
Our teachers should be teachers, not police.
