Not really a corp (yet), but the Gray lantern Nathan Allen Broome or "Sorrow Lantern" is the newest 2024 edition to the emotional spectrum embodying Sadness. The comic he debuted was released this year, forgot which though.
9. Grey Lantern Corps Emotional Power: Sorrow Oath: "In Painful Day, In Frightful Night No One Will Never Escape Our Spite Those Who Challenge What's Naturally Right Suffer The Power! Grey Lantern's Light!"
There is so much potential for the Lantern corps. Orange, for example, could be expanded into an organization dedicated to protecting commerce and free trade, putting emphasis on the idea that the Orange light can be a force for good as well as selfishness.
I've struggled to figure out the good side of Orange myself. Best I could come up with is somebody who was more greedy for friends and experiences than for objects. I'm probably going to incorporate your idea into my head canon as well. I think all of the color corps should be viewed as having both a good side and a bad side. Red - Rage is bad, but righteous fury can be good for society if it is truly just. Orange - See above Yellow - Fear can cause beings to cower in terror, but it is also our own internal warning system. Fear as a positive would be its ability to warn of danger to the self and others. Green - Will can lead to courage, but it can also lead to arrogance and maybe even self-worship. Blue - I've always loved the idea that Blue is the weakest of the spectrum by itself, but the strongest if a Green Lantern is near by. Hope can be the most powerful force in the universe, but without the will to enact that hope, it's just wishful thinking. That said, I think thought is also an important aspect to hope. Thoughtless hope is just a fool with blind faith. It's only with intelligence and foresight that hope can be truly directed as a positive force. Indigo - Not actually sure what the bad side of Compassion would be. This is even harder than figuring out the good side of greed. Violet - The original version of the Star Saphires before the retcon to make them the Violet Lanterns works well with this. The ones chosen are usually those who love the Green Lantern of a planet. However, the power makes their love obsessive to the point that their ultimate goal is to kill themselves and the GL they are in love with. Their bodies then form the core of a new world. The violet power of love is not only reasonable love, but also obsessive destructive love. (Hence why its entity is "The Predator") (Also, this is why I think the ultimate Star Saphire in all of fiction would be Anakin Skywalker.) Black/White - Opposites, but necessary to each other. Without life, death cannot occur. Without death, life stagnates, overpopulation becomes insane and all creation becomes a miserable endless existence far worse than death. As to the others (Grey, Gold, Ultraviolet, etc...) I prefer to ignore them.
@AustynSN the downside of Indigo is having so much compassion that you need to control others to make sure they don't hurt themselves or others. Otherwise yeah good information here. I don't like the incorporation of the ultraviolet and gold and other crap either.
There is only one Problem. Each of the Corps has a Weakness. The Orange Corps was shown in the TV Show about the GL Show and we saw the sole survivor of that Corps. Each member is eaten inside and completly rotten and corrupted by greed without being able to share anything. Think about Lex Luthor, who wants everything for himself but without the Ability to hold back, even if it's just for show and than ad it with 1000 and you get close to that sole survivor of the Orange Corps. There is no sanity left in Members of the Orange Corpse and that one Guy killed all the other Members, because he was there the longest and was simply the most rotten among them. In other Words, the Orange Power itself is it's own Weakness. But i do understand your wish do expand it, just like the others but this one Corps will never be able to work together or helping others. Each second they are part of the Orange Corps makes them more corrupted and more insane.
@markomarinic3073 It's the same with every Corps though. Their own power is their weakness. Green is will but also arrogance for example. There should be Pros and Cons instead of this inherent weakness.
@@J.Starkweather Agreed, especially about the Will and arrogance Part. If they are not careful, they could be seen as or even become arrogant. But perhaps Sinestro is a good example for that. He thought he had it all under control. So maybe the GL Corps must always know where their Limits are. The Red Lanters can easily loose themselfs in anger, rage or wrath. So yeah, the more you think about it the more i would say you are right with that.
Yes. However, the ring actually stopped in the middle of the recruitment and switched to recruiting Bruce Wayne instead. Said ring was captured by Batman shortly after starting it's redirect of its recruitment speech.
To me there were too many different corps. It just became so convoluted over time. They should have just stick to 4 or 5 of them… green, yellow, red and black.
The Blue Lantern corp is my favorite.
