I seriously wish more people did Super Sentai Retrospectives on RUclips.

The serious tone of JAKQ was the reason it got low ratings, Gorenger got a lot of children viewership with its goofy monsters and colorful main cast, plus the ridiculous and extravagant fights, JAKQ, on the other hand, tried to be more serious and down to earth, maybe as an attempt to get more teenagers and adults to watch it, but probably didn't work as intended since most of the children tuned off of the show. This had happened before to Toei when they aired Kamen Rider Amazon, that show also tried to be more adult to try and give a fresh air to the declining franchise but did actually worse than the previous KR show and got cancelled at only 24 episodes. Later on the writers would find a good balance between light hearted and serious tone for their shows ofc and JAKQ and Amazon remain as examples of how not to reinvent growing franchises.

Big One is easily the most well known of the early Sentai Heroes. Man basically became the crossover ranger before the concept was really a thing.😆

According to a youtuber called cammis circus, a publishing magazine mistakenly thought ninja captor was a sentai which is why it was sometimes seen with other sentais.

When I watched the show, I definitely felt the disparity and the show clearly being cut into three pieces. The first is the dark spy detective kind of show that was honestly pretty dang good. The second was the lighter more kid-focused one. Which, wasn't bad, just heavy tonal whiplash. And then once Big One showed up, it was all over. The rest of the team got sidelined for the rest of the season.

in Dairanger one of the main villains was a kid, said kid got killed twice in the show. JAKQ wasn't the only time a kid got explicitely killed but it was no doubt a first. I would also mention certain villains from Jetman and GoGo-V but they are aged up at a certain point of the show.

What i like (and also dont) was a henshin capsule thingie. It was like "The bad guys are coming! Quick! Into the bulky capsule!"

Jakq is far better than Goranger. The characters are flashed out more, the villains are more threatening, and the plots are far more relevant. Also, the fact that this is 35 episodes makes it easier to watch. Also, Jetman's 2nd episode has two kids getting killed.

Showing the symbol wasnt really a big deal I think especially since it doesnt really just belong to the Nazis.

  • @ShoMeYourMoves

JAKQ wasn’t the first onscreen appearance of Kenji Ohba,he was actually a EAGLE soldier in episode 75 Of Goranger

Apparently the reason a sudden romance between Sakurai and Karen happened was because their actors became a couple during the show's production and I guess this was included to give their characters something to do in the finale.

I just watched both of the retrospectives back to back without skipping a single second which is rare for me. These videos were spectacular I greatly enjoyed watching them! I cannot wait to see your retrospective on Battle Fever J! Also I really enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes in the middle of the video where if you blink you miss it!

  • @anthustenebris9202

One of the transformation capsule props shows up in an episode of Battle Fever J.

  • @byn2644

Can't wait for the Battle Fever J retrospective!

As a content fiend who subsists on long videos, the 51 min runtime excites me. Excellent video man, I noticed your pace of speaking was much more even this time around, keep it up!

  • @Tasty_Tango45

This is the first video on the channel I’ve run across and I think I’m addicted to the content already haha

  • @Deoxy360

It's cool to see the early showa era get some retrospectives.
