For me the remaster is wonderful. I’m glad they gave us an option for modern controls too while letting us old heads use the og controls if we want to. For me this game is a classic like god hand and I’m fine with some of the jank the game has because as a whole it’s just an unforgettable experience and that time limit is core to the experience for me
wish Capcom just made a new Dead Rising similar to DR1's tone. DR1 had actual scary/crazy moments and wasn't too wacky. Prefer DR without combo weapons.
I’ve played the original a lot lately so in some ways there’s no point buying the remake because it’s similar, in other ways it’s going to have improvements and be a shiny new toy, I’m interested in going for all achievements straight off the bat as well but I don’t know if that’s good enough reason to get it super early.
Perfect example of how incompetent these devs today are.. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TAKE THE BEST OF WHAT PEOPLE LOVED ABOUT THE ORIGINAL AND JUST ADD MORE!! DAMN
Just finished ending S OT and wow I was scared the tank scene was going to be hard but was easier than I remember and also fighting Sargent really was an quick beat down just like the OG just better in every way. Love everything about the delux it comes with its cons and pros but worth it.

One of my favorite games of all time, a great franchise. I remember actually going to GameStop somehow getting my mom to buy this back in the day. This being in the RE engine. Looking at the success of resident evil 2 & 4 remake . Why not make a full remake? It is disappointing. While having to budget more and more with prices of everything let alone games. I’ll wait for a deep sale…
This game used to look so good back in the day everything was so detailed and I don't think that the visuals will ever live up to what I picture it in my mind
I can't wait to play. I played the og 06 endlessly and have so much fun with it. This version looks really good and huge upgrade. I do wish they had a difficult setting to play like the original version.
im gonna support DR1DR if for no reason, other than if this succeeds, we will get DR2DR one day. and imo DR2 improves upon DR1 in every way imaginable. i really hope people end up enjoying the game because the DR franchise is on its last leg, and capcom doesnt need this ip in the future to be successful.
yes DR 2 ddid improve upon it ... i jsut hope they don't wste time doing DR3 remake ... i hated how they cahnged the npc saving in DR3 .. i loved the mechanic of leading a bunch of idiot Ai's through zombie filled mall (and mini vegas) , having to hold some of the girl's hands or carry the occasionally gimpy npcs ,. that shit was fun .. and DR3 jsut kinda meh with out it.
Some people have this weird delusion that Dead Rising was ever some sort of massive series. They don't seem to grasp that the first game barely sold a million and the 2nd game which was better in every way barely sold above that and the series just hovers around the million or less
I like the first one better just because of story. Plus I love celldweller’s music in game. But you don’t have much impact when you out to the courtyard and hear “WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL”
@@lutherheggs451 2nd game wasnt better in every way. Aesthetically inferior, and the weapon crafting system missed the simple brilliance of killing zombies with everyday items youd find in a mall. It was a good sequel tho.
I once bought a X-Box 360 JUST to be able to play this game. This is how much I loved Dead Rising. But from the things I see they changed in comparison... I really can't give a crap about this "remaster".
So, changing a literal handful(maybe 6 lines total) of dialogue and one VA is that egregious? Betrer never touch RE4R then, with that logic. Changed way more yet most people seem to agree it's a very good game.
@@CommanderRedEXE No they are mad that they changed the "erotica" crap and they think making a character look like a real person instead of an asian cartoon character is some DEI shit. Simple solution, don't be a snowflake and you'll have more fun in life. Imagine caring about that crap so much that you'll avoid playing a great game.
The first time I played this game I couldnt believe how incredible it was. I even got the achievment for killing as many zombies as lived in the town. It was so bad ass. I want a full remake so bad.
I would pass but it’s gonna be tempting to play early with how many people in my feed make videos on it. I feel like because I’m a huge fan I should still buy it early even if it’s not very good, huge fans don’t sit on the fence and wait until January.
The game also got dragged into weird Culture-War nonsense. The forums and general discussion around the game are basically toxic waste-land where nothing of consequence will ever grow. Is it perfectly identical to the original? No, they did change and censor things. But, they are largely insignificant changes that don't radically alter the game or it's story. Most of it is either throw away dialogue or Cosmetic Changes that are of no consequence.
2:37 to be fair there wasn't much of an alternative for that. The massive hordes are a staple of dead rising and you can't really cut it without cutting a massive chunk of the game's identity. Otherwise you'd end up with a situation like 'Chop til you drop' for the wii where there's only tens of zombies on screen and the mall feels insultingly barren.
@@__G___ The long and short of it is they removed mentions of "erotica", removed being rewarded for "erotica" shots, removed vietnam/vietcong references, and Larry looks far less Asian and far more white. It all now reeks of DEI influence. Depending on your threshold for it, you may or may not be bothered by the changes. Personally I dislike seeing older games be watered down by current era politics. If those things I mentioned weren't in the original game, I wouldn't have cared. But they were, and remasters imo should be a preservation of the original only with improved graphics and systems. They should not have current era bs injected in them. That's just my opinion of course. Like I said if it doesn't bother you, go for it.

No matter what Capcom and people say, I am calling this a remake. New models, engine, physics, animations, sound effects, actors, weapons, but the same level geometry and scripting.. that's just a 1to1 remake to me. Similar to Medievil, Crash NSane, and Spyro Reignited.
That’s what I’m gonna do. They already made me mad with the needlessly race swapped boss and censorship and not bringing Frank’s original actor back. No. If they wanna remove stuff from the game, they don’t deserve full price.
I’ve always really liked dead rising especially the first 2 and off the record but i can’t support the censorship dialogue changes and some of the voice actor changes, especially for Frank it was meant to be a faithful remaster and unfortunately it is not after they announced this. I was super excited thinking the franchise might be back after the disaster that was Frank’s big package but given all the backlash from fans, I can’t imagine it’s going to sell well enough to warrant bringing the franchise back so unfortunate
@@Dreadpirateflappy Its really not either. It's rebuilt from the ground up, which would qualify it as a remake, but its rebuilding an almost identical world, gameplay systems, and story, which would qualify it as a remaster. Thats why its called a deluxe remaster, its a lot more than a straight remaster but it would be scummy to call it a remake because its so similar to the base game
I appreciate the effort.. but if I wanted to play dead rising I'd play the 2016 one. This game didn't need a remaster we needed a new dead rising to revive a very much dead series. Also where the hell is TJ? how has he not been back as Frank yet?
This is Dead Rising not Dead Island.. lol. I don't see how having game mechanics similar to how it was previously is a bad thing? The internet speaks on how great things seem to have been and then when devs relaunch a game and keep similar mechanics it can be off putting? This is a relic in time, I remember picking this up day one with my chop till you drop t shirt. The game was amazing and unique. It really captures that feel you get experiencing those 70s-90s horror movies we all adore in video game form. If the move set is the same as it was 2006 that's not a negative but a positive in that it stayed true to the original. Not everything needs to be improved upon because we've advanced in time, sometimes just relaunching something classic is enough. Can't wait for 9/19/24 and the fact we get this 18 years later. The escort missions and the psychopaths getting stuck on trees for you to kill make the game. Again, keeping it the same shouldn't equate to a negative score. The game mechanics being quirky make the game.
This game has always been one of the few zombie games I wanted to, but I could never get into. It looks just as unappealing now as it did then. The time restraints was my biggest beef with the game even above how wonky and corny the game looks. Thanks for the honest review!
I'm not a fan of modern lighting updates to older games that had assets specifically designed for a way different lighting environment. I've been a game artist for quite some time now and worked during this era of mostly pre-baked adhoc lighting. Reason why it doesn't always work when you update the lighting is because a lot of the texture work had lighting painted into the maps and the art looks correct when there's a default ambient global illumination brightness baked into the entire render. So having more realistic shadows and lighting doesn't always work with the older art style and limited polycounts(which you don't notice as much when the shadows aren't as detailed) unless you redo all the texture and shader work as well, along with increasing the polycounts of everything. Similar issue with the Lolipop Chainsaw remaster.
Pretty fun but also even with the improvements the games mechanics are rough. While I love it, I find myself just questioning why they only did half the improvements it could have had.

So hyped been playing the original for over 13 years since I was 8. My favourite Capcom
Franchise, I wasn't expecting this to replace the original entirely as im sure there will be things I like from the OG. But I've been dreaming for an RE engine version of dr
Damn I remember playing this damn near 20 years ago… Where does the time go damn!
Damn, had hoped this would be better.
I bought a 360 for this game back when it launched, I hadn't been so excited for a game since Final Fantasy 7.
I can't wait for this, warts and all. People are moaning about the censorship etc, but most (not all) of them seem like positive changes for me.
Upskirting always seemed a weird thing to get points for.
Very good to the point review and no boot licking. Love it
I’ve played the original a lot lately so in some ways there’s no point buying the remake because it’s similar, in other ways it’s going to have improvements and be a shiny new toy, I’m interested in going for all achievements straight off the bat as well but I don’t know if that’s good enough reason to get it super early.
4:25 “State bird is Mac n cheese”!!! Dude wtf… half of this Redbull came out of my nose so thanks for that 😂
Perfect example of how incompetent these devs today are..
I can't wait to buy this. This weekend. Going to be jumping between Astro plucky and dead rising. Good times good times
I'll be honest. I am only buying this game in hopes they remake or remaster Dead Rising 2 cause i juat played it recently, and its so fun. I am annoyed with the changes and censoring, but i am still excited cause it's one of my favorite games, and i want to see Dead Rising 2 it would be so fun!!!
indeed brotha i hope the do dead rising 2
One of my favorite games of all time, a great franchise. I remember actually going to GameStop somehow getting my mom to buy this back in the day.
This being in the RE engine. Looking at the success of resident evil 2 & 4 remake . Why not make a full remake? It is disappointing. While having to budget more and more with prices of everything let alone games. I’ll wait for a deep sale…
As long as I get to hear "Gone Guru" every time I go into the courtyard I'm happy.
Anyone else remember the Dead Rising mobile game? Man it was pretty awesome. Can't wait for this remaster despite the changes.
I personally liked dead rising 2 much more than the first
Some people have this weird delusion that Dead Rising was ever some sort of massive series. They don't seem to grasp that the first game barely sold a million and the 2nd game which was better in every way barely sold above that and the series just hovers around the million or less
Same.
Same. I preferred the vibe of Las Vegas
Agree! No need to change those things
@@kitseu People are that mad that they can't upskirt in a game? I can smell the desperation from them.
I like how the most replayed part of the video is the "see-through ass pants" part...🤣
I really enjoyed this shit out of this one! Great revisit to a classic I played back on 360b
I wish we could get a megaman legends 3 or remake or remaster of 1 and 2 i loved those games growing up also resident evil outbreak.
Should have been $20 for base and $30 for deluxe. This is WAY overpriced.
“The guy looks like the state bird is mac&cheese” - 4:26 - Just another absolute banger of a joke from ACG 😂
ACG was a kid when this came out? Bro looks 50 years old. Gamng must age you faster.
Great video as always Karak but in my humble opinion Capcom should've remastered or remade Dead Rising 2 instead of this
The stutter in the tunnels have me worried since i plan to spend my first few hours down there just to unlock the megaman blaster gun.
I am a huge fan of the original. This is day 1 for yours truly!
@@Vaniity_Velvet what was censored specifically? Seriously wondering what it is I have no idea what the complaints are. I have the original on xbox.
I love deadrising and I pre-ordered. But I truly hope it sells good as I prefer deadrising2 that’s the remaster I really want. 😊
I’d rather we just go straight to Dead Rising 5.
@@SleepyMook that’s fair. But let’s get deadrising 2 remaster first. That way if it fails I can fall back on the 1st & 2nd lol
dead island 12:20 lol. great video though, right to the point
I always carried one or two skateboards for travel
12:28 you said dead island as opposed to dead rising, sir.
This new trend of remastering or remaking and changing so much it ruins the original is getting old.
Removed features and censorship had soured me on this remaster immediately, and I enjoyed the original.
Wait, what censorship, why would they do that
Look it up man
@@__G___ The long and short of it is they removed mentions of "erotica", removed being rewarded for "erotica" shots, removed vietnam/vietcong references, and Larry looks far less Asian and far more white.
@@soulechelon2643 that's terrible. they must not offend people yet at the same time offend people
@@soulechelon2643I can even take you seriously with that weirdo pfp.. DEI? Oh white people being mad that games include people of color more you’re people play anime games with nothing but white people & watching the shows with nothing but white people that takes place in Japan lol 😂 but this is a problem? None of you cry about the internet forcing censorship words but still using words like “unalive” when there’s no reason to do so. Everything you named isn’t a big deal in the first place but yk you creep weirdo anime fetish nerds
No matter what Capcom and people say, I am calling this a remake. New models, engine, physics, animations, sound effects, actors, weapons, but the same level geometry and scripting.. that's just a 1to1 remake to me. Similar to Medievil, Crash NSane, and Spyro Reignited.
It’ll be a solid grab for $15.
No need to play this one again for full-price.
That’s what I’m gonna do. They already made me mad with the needlessly race swapped boss and censorship and not bringing Frank’s original actor back. No. If they wanna remove stuff from the game, they don’t deserve full price.
@@corvega_joeyep 100% agree with u I will buy it but on a deep sale
I’m gonna buy it full price just to piss you guys off. I’ll be playing it tomorrow.
@@eddface316 why would it piss us off tho? That makes no sense its your money u do what u want with it
@@brandonmccann15 There are people genuinely angry on steam at people with the mouse icon...
New VA, new look for Frank, and censored. I think I'll pass on this one and hope this isn't a sign of Capcoms remakes deteriorating in quality.
Never played the original but I pre ordered this hopefully I enjoy this.
I wouldve rather seen a full on remake like they did with RE2, but will pick it up and enjoy it, atleast for a single playthrough, then maybe resell.
Too many other games coming out. Maybe I'll check it out down the road.
think ill stick to the 360 version
I'm definitely waiting for a deep sale.
Looking forward to this one!
The only review that matters !!!
Def unfortunate. Sounds like they should have done a Remake and not a Remaster.
This is a remake...
@@Bloodhurl67 Read the name of the game... it's a remaster, fancier graphics, and everything else is almost the same.
This might be good buy at a 20 dollar price... that's it..
So true agreed 👌🏻
Chugging review one after the other like its field day.
it's a good review
Jumping from a helicopter to a skyscraper 😂
Im excited as hell. Idc how negative yall talk bout the game. Was my favorite dead rising. Played the hell out of it and im going to do it again
Best reviewer on RUclips. Hands down.
