Isn’t it weird not seeing anyone with cell phones in these old movies? I find it comforting.

Bill grahammer it was down to earth back then but like 100 years before that it was the same money grubbin superficial materialism pushing for todays superficiality of materialism.Every eras just as corrupt only the actors on the world stage's characters change for better or for worse & vice versa. When things change they always fluctuate with the times.History is full of the new found contradictions with the same old dissapointments. Its designed to confuse ,mix up & screw up the human race. But the extreme diffrences of those opposites is what makes hope & happiness alot more sweeter.Classic movies rock becaus you notice the nostalgiac detailed nuances that differs substance from substanceless..

Sam Newfield directed quite a few of these noir-type films in the 40s, all are excellent...at least the ones I have seen so far. And yes, the best noir films kept film fans guessing until the end.
I never was a big mystery fan but I am really starting to enjoy these types of movies. It ALMOST makes you wish you could have seen them when they were first shown in those dark, somewhat smokey theatres in the 40s.
Thanks for posting this for newbies to the genre to enjoy.

Nice to see Hugh Beaumont in his days before Ward Cleaver. Also surprised to see a very young Joi Lansing as the art model student on the table. Must have been one of her earliest roles.

Doris Merrick played Margo. She had 3 husbands. Divorced two and widowed by the last. She quit movies in 1955 when she was 36. She died at age 100 in Yuma Arizona. Never had children. Not much else known about her. She was a model and a singer before she started acting.
