Also, loving the fact that this is a budget build.
Trying to stay true to that!
Looks like a good SRAM NX copy
That is what my thought is as well! Appreciate you, Jeremy!
Thanks for the rundown on these cranks. I decided to go the same route and ordered them up from Amazon for my dirt jumper pump, track bike and just like you throwing a spare five Dev chain ring on it. Can’t wait to ride it rip it and see what it does.
Let me know what you think when you get them man!!!
The difference was probably in the heat treating of the aluminum. The one that broke easier is probably the one that would’ve lasted longer because the metals probably hardened more but when you try to bend hard aluminum, it tends to crack.
It definitely felt different as well. I am sure it would have been absolutely fine to ride on 😁
Coming along nicely!
Thanks man!!! We are almost there!
7:48 People post pics of light weight chainrings bent like this and comments say they suck, are fragile, weak, too light. Including Absolute Black I got. But clearly requires major force, but it's not meant to be smashed into rocks, a bash guide will help. Protecting the chainring and the chain. Yes stronger ones will hold up better to abuse, but still I would use a bash guide.
But nothing will save from a hammer.
Never had issues with mine. But as I mentioned I use a bash guide.
How is the crankset holding up? Thanks 🙏
You know I’m working on the same frame for somebody and I used a 3 mm offset chain wheel adapter and my chain centerline was like almost 54 mm so I have a 6 mm on order. different cranks set though the one I have doesn’t have the adjuster on the other side has the center preload nut
Let me know how ot goes for you!
5Dev Chainring retails for $100 but currently on sale for $50 shipped
I actually looked it up as well HAHAHAHAHA Seems like a good deal!
Great video 😊I’m new to bicycle and I am watching a lot of videos so that I can upgrade my new gt avalanche I got for Christmas
Very nice!!! I am glad you enjoyed it and welcome to the MTB world 😁
What length did you go with on those cranks?
I did 170mm 5:58 😁😁😁
3:55 It's an open patent if it was not others would be in trouble long ago. Some people attack brands for copying stuff, but if there is an open patent or patent had an expiration date, not been renewed it's free for all. But this is a mounting ''standard'' So it's open patent. I've not looked at the patents for it.
9:29 This looks well designed. For a low budget BB this is not the norm. But no idea if spare parts are available.
3:13 Amazon description says 29mm axle, but Sram dub is 28 and something. So if that's true they won't be compatible with eachother.
Good thing these come with the bb so it is all good 😁
Hell yeah looks nice
Making some nice progress for sure! 😁
Have you used it on the trail and what can you say about its durability???
Yep! Hopefully will have a "real world" review soon! Feel and work great. Especially for the price 😁😁😁
The axle is aluminum?
Will you recommend this for gravity riding?
Without having gotten to ride it extensively yet, I do not feel like I can answer this yet. I can say it seems very well built and safe though.
How was the crank now?im planning using that for enduro
Still holding up fine!
Nice!! Thanks
@@diaboluspepito5103 of course! 😁😁😁
Thoughts on this crank set on my soon to be new DJ ??
I'd say for the price give it a go! 😁
SRAM stuff is always the best 👌 unfortunately doesn't mix well with SHIMANO, some names of various brands can be hard to pronounce.
I am feeling pretty optimistic over these cranks as of now! Look very nice for the price 😁
Can you use it for 2x setups?
Sadly not with this style of direct bolt on. Set up for 1x only.
I would've sold you the Sram X1 crank for the same price
It is all good my man! This was definitely worth a look for the budget crowd!
ride check
@paulitolade456 I do need to get that on here. Definitely time!
7:01 Sram chainring = steel, Senicx chainring = aluminum alloy! 🤦♂
@@S.Andras yeppers, definitely with the weight differences
What is that banging on the crankarm supposed to prove?😉😅
Verifying it was not hollow.... I guess..... Seemed appropriate at the time 🤣🤣🤣
First!
KEO IS ON IT!!!
1:14 Actually 6mm offset is better, if you can run it do it! It will have a better chain line, so it will be smoother. I've tried both on my bike. There's no way I will run a boost chain ring. First ride and it scratched the cassette, chain dropped at back pedalling, on DT Swiss 350 hub, Garbaruk 11-50 T 11 spd cassette. Atlas crank. shifts were worse, still acceptable, but not optimal. 6mm is smoother. If the frame allows it, run it.
Interesting input on your experience! Since I got the boost oval I will go ahead and run the 3mm.
@@chickensendies If you can test both. I wanted a spare chainring, but øaø there was in the whole country was one boost chainring so I ordered it. Tested. But will sell it. Will only run the 6mm.
lol sram style, literally SRAM Scenix manufactures cranks for sram and others, it's literally the same thing...
HA! The more you know. So, these are a pretty good deal at $50 for sure then. Appreciate the info 😄
