  • Stormsong Valley is the final major zone we need to cover for Battle for Azeroth launch. The kul tiran fleet has gone missing and the tidesages don't really seem to care. Their connection to the waves has brought them in contact with some rather dark beings... I hope you'll enjoy!

    Aaah, this was soooooo great! I've always loved water magic, and it seldom gets the chance to be showcased so, to see an entire organisation dedicated to it is just superb. The fact it mixes in with some lightning to show the power of the storm makes it all the better for me, though I'm glad it stays focused on water as is.
    Tidesages confuse me a little though. With such a connection to water, shouldn't they be shamans, with Neptulon knowing them well? It's kinda like how Kul'tiran druidism is weird compared to all other forms, but, I'm not complaining~ the voices of the sea ARE pretty mysterious though. All hints we've been given always point to Old Gods when it comes to the oceans, but then again, the seas lead the closest to the centre of the planet, and considering the first sources of power have been wells, as in lakes, could all this water imagery point to Azeroth herself?
    Pike really grew on me now that I've seen this; that small laser spell fight looked so neat! I can imagine what they intended with it. Also, Riptide? I think you Percied my Anaklusmos there, Blizz. Sam however was... not exploited enough, imo. I didn't quite catch what his personal stake on the Stormsong betrayal was, but I think we lacked hope spots to make his tragic death really hit as it should have.
    All in all, among my favourite things I've seen! To the point that I actually feel bad the Horde managed to steal the sceptre of tides.

    I think that there maybe some tieds between the Tidemother and the Tidehunter Neptulon.
    After all usually the shamans are connected to the water elementals to use thier water totems and the highest Elemental of Water is Neptulon. There has never been a mention of a Tidemother before BfA. Maybe the Tidemother is an offspring of Neptulon?
    Think about it. In Cataclysm the Naga were able to capture the Neptulon himself. Maybe there was something that happened between this and Legion where we see Neptulon again in the Shaman Order Hall? And this something is connected to the Tidemother? Now I wished they had put more detail into this part of the game in cataclysm....

    • @RileyRivalle2
      @RileyRivalle2 5 лет назад +1

      It's true they dropped the story of what happened to Neptulon after his kidnapping, but they later stated that he freed himself (likely as a result of Deathwing's defeat and his allies being weakened). I wouldn't mind of they wrote something more into that, like you suggest.

    • @andrewrenshaw2741
      @andrewrenshaw2741 5 лет назад +2

      Daelin was a tidesage. He had the ability to summon elementals and use waterbolt in Warcraft. I'd say it's a mix between shaman and mage, it's own class. Actually, it's unique enough to make it a playable class later on.

    • @RileyRivalle2
      @RileyRivalle2 5 лет назад

      But then you also have to throw the void in there, so it's rather like a shadow priest crossed with a mage (specifically for water-related powers). The deep oceans have a natural connection to both the water element and the void, so if they draw their powers from there it all makes sense to me at least.

    • @stormstrider1990
      @stormstrider1990 5 лет назад +1

      Daelin also had so called "Hydromancers" in his army that used water magic, so the concept of tidesages goes way back to Warcraft 3. Blizzard must also have taken some inspirations from the Drowned Priests from Game of Thrones, given their role as priests and the kraken motif.

      Its always odd when multiple characters share the same voice actor and Gideon plays quite a few in WoW (and other games ofc). Kind of gives that weird feeling you'd get in Elder Scrolls games where you constantly run into characters that sound the same. Its not helped by the fact that he has a very distinct voice
