My rug! I teach 8th graders and I bought a larger indoor/outdoor rug from Target for my room. The kids LOVE it! They all rush to sit there and work during independent work time. Our school does restorative practices and the rug is where we go for circle time. 100% would buy again.

My best classroom purchase (I didn't actually purchase it, he was given to me) is my magnetic stuffed sloth. His name is Sherman. He hangs on the air vent and stairs at the door. It's great when people don't realize he's in there and he scares them. The kids love him. Sometimes he travels around the school with me. :D
I’m studying to be a high school English teacher! Your videos gave me the motivation I needed going into my next semester. It’s taking me what seems like a lifetime to get this degree, and sometimes it feels like the fire is extinguished but you made me feel SO excited to be going into this field. I love the part about representing students in the classroom. During my sophomore year, we had a "get to know me" project in english and I created a get to know me box. The outside was a lot of basic information about me but the inside had more of my personal dreams and things my classmates didnt know about me. My teacher had my box on display all year long and I loved it!! I felt so appreciated because it took me forever to make that box.
*The laminator saved my life!!!!!!!! It's my favorite thing in the world. I also bought my own paper cutter which has been amazing as well. I'm constantly cutting papers into strips and things and now I can do that from the comfort of my classroom :) *Worst purchase: ELA themed posters. I NEVER refer to them and they just take up space on my walls.
I bought an amazon laminator about a month ago and it was THE BEST purchase I have ever made in my 20 years of life. I can’t wait to use it for student teaching this year!

As someone who struggles with extreme anxiety when it comes to school and my teachers. I so wish I had a teacher like you where you make the classroom feel so welcoming and you make your students feel like they can talk to you about anything and everything.
If you love organization, get yourself a document sorter for turning in assignments! Give each student a number, they turn in their paper to the sorter, you can quickly check which ones are missing, and then pull out the stack in order. Makes input into your grade book so much faster. Plus, if you have numbered mailboxes or mail files, it’s easy to pass back because the stack is in order.
I can say that the microphone helps give my students a voice in the classroom. Or if I want them to produce letter sounds they love when it's out. I got a laminator this year and a printer donated to me. Such game changers

I definitely agree with you about being in your room and assessing the bins you will need. I have about 25 shoe sized bins which I use to sort my many small items (I teach preschool and everything is small) and I realized that they were not practical for organizing things in my cabinets. I went out this past year and purchased latching bins for my math cabinet and I bought labels for them on TPT. It was a game changer. I can open the cupboard and find what I need. This was the first video of yours that I watched. I'm going to go check out your channel. Thanks for sharing your opinion.
I teach in a mod/severe classroom and my favorite thing by far is the calm down corner. The kids love it and I love to do my planning in the bean bags while my kiddos (the ones who do not go to specials) hang out around me. 💁🏼♀️
My senior year of high school, in my Future Teachers class, I was in charge of making a bulletin board and had the bright idea to making glitter letters... let me tell you, the janitor was not happy with me or my teacher. It was a massacre of red glitter and spray glue EVERYWHERE. So glad I learned that lesson before becoming a teacher.
My partner starts her first year of teaching this upcoming school year, 3rd grade, and I’m honestly so excited for her. I'm an aspiring teacher:) I bounced around from a few career choices and I've finally decided on teaching. Part of me is still hesitant cause I do get nervous speaking in front of people, and just wanted to know if there were tips to calm nerves about it. My family is full of teachers and they all love it, so I'm trying to surround myself with people like that❤
i’m unsure of what I want to do in college but education has been a passion of mine and you just inspire me to pursue it further. sigh--gotta figure it out soon
