  • Hi love bugs! Welcome back to a day in the life as a High School teacher! Things have FINALLY started settling down. Everything has seriously been crazy. From state testing, to planning everything to fit into these last few weeks of school! I'm just grateful that everything is now some what relaxed and organized. I can't believe school is almost over--it truly went by so fast.

My name is Brittany! I teach 9th grade English as well as Introduction to Drama. Teaching is a huge passion of mine and that all begins with the opportunity to communicate with others with the hopes of making a positive difference. In addition to teaching I have a passion for giving back through Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s. Content creation and RUclips has also always been a passion of mine-I love creating in a way that will motivate others to become the best version of themselves. I took a leap in 2017 and decided to create my RUclips channel where I share my life as a teacher and all things health, beauty, and positive living. I am never trying to be anyone else besides myself. I keep it real and true to who I am, I promised myself that would never change. I’m so grateful that you are here and I hope you stay, join in on this family, and continue to better yourself-you deserve it.

Eleanor and Park is one of my all-time favorite books in the entirety of this world and it has impacted me so much and made so much difference into my life especially in terms of my mentality with life and it was honestly such a beautiful book! I absolutely love how you're incorporating it into your class as a unit and comparing it to Romeo and Juliet (I've never actually thought about that correlation omg and it's so fascinating) because I just read the book on my own for enjoyment and I would've really loved to be able to discuss it in a profound and sentimental manner because the book legitimately had me screaming and crying! Thank you for everything that you do, for inspiring everyone to follow their passions despite what others say, and for shedding some light into this world!

I love that you're doing a fun YA novel with your kids and reading aloud. I always loved being read to in school -- i found it so relaxing and enjoyable. And recently, in one of my college classes, we took turns reading paragraphs from a letter out loud and I was reminded how much I love reading aloud. It's somehow so relaxing and yet there is something so powerful about it. And also Rainbow Rowell is an excellent choice.

There are LOTS of recipes for vegan yogurts (and less waste) which you can put in a big container when you meal prep :)
Also I’m still working on my teaching degree. I’m working on my AA and then transferring to major in education and minor in language! I want to teach Asian languages. 😊

Obviously, you know what you’re doing. You’re a college graduate and I’m sure an awesome teacher.
I hope I’m not stepping on anyone’s toes when I say this. My senior year my English teacher assigned us to complete a “This I Believe“ essay. I’m sure you know it, it’s a very popular assignment in the English teacher world lol. If you haven’t heard of it, google it. It’s pretty cool. Anyway, the essay examples encourage being vulnerable and to read your essays aloud. My classmates and I had been in school with each other since 5th grade, but even then we weren’t comfortable being vulnerable. So, to help us feel comfortable my English teacher wrote an essay and read it aloud to class. She was very vulnerable and really inspired us all. She reassured us that her classroom and our classmates were a safe place for us to be honest. Some students felt uncomfortable reading in front of us in a classroom, so we’d take a walking field trip to the park where things were less “intense” or “professional feeling.” Every single person was honest, open and brave. That last English assignment our senior year is all of the graduates favorite assignment. We all got close and were there for each other when we all broke down sobbing lol.
Just some ideas for you and other commenters!
