      Because you might have the best sentence later and you mess up initially..so when editing from end youll see the better version initially and you keep them.. whereas if you start from front..you'll need to play all the way to the end and then come back to cut down the bad part

    OMG I LOVE TIP #1 with editing through the audio wavelengths. I clap when I make a mistake and then use that wavelength to clip out the blooper. People tell me they think I am a natural LOL. Who else loves talking head shots?

      Joy Mae - Millennial Money Talk I do something similar (or did, until this video)...I use hand signals on video - shaking my hand (like I'm standing on 2 Queens, or a thumbs-up...just something I can quickly identify and cut out knowing a better take is right after

    • @greencertifiedweb
      @greencertifiedweb 4 года назад +9

      I got tired of wearing out my hands... Went to Petco and bought a dog training clicker for about $2...
      3 clicks = Starting/Ending video (for timing separate audio channel to camera)
      2 clicks = starting a topic/paragraph/section
      1 click = I messed up, doing it again
      I'll also put my hand over the lens and remove it if I'm going to make some verbal notes about editing as in, "I actually liked the second take better than the 4th take so check if I'm right and I just got an idea to do a video about puppies, write that down in our topic list!"
      It's saved my hands and a fortune in time!
      One more trick if you record time separate from video... I've noticed a dealy with OBS Studio so you can't actually line up the spikes in audio. When I start, I do 3 clicks then say "One, Two, Three." I over emphasize the mouth movement and drag the words out (Threeeeeee) then line up the audio with the mouth. One is the best word, two just verifies and the three should end when I relax my moutn.

    Thank you SO much! Great "hacks", especially the very first one. I was already using the waveforms a little when finding clips, but like a dummy I've still been listening to each one and only skipping forward to the next clip when I hear a mistake. Just jumping ahead to the final take is a HUGE time saver.
    And I'll be honest, the main thing that gets in my way when it's time to shoot a new video is thinking about how much time I'm going to have to spend afterwards on editing. It's a huge motivation crusher some weeks. Cutting that time down ups my enthusiasm for doing the part of this that I actually like: the filming. So thanks!

      @DFDuck55 4 года назад

      I've been using this visual audio wave form editing technique for about 40 years when recording voice overs for radio. A lot of times I don't even have to listen to it, I can edit it simply by looking at the sine wave display. In addition, if you can see the entire sine wave of the audio, which apparently you can't in Final Cut, make your cuts exactly where the sine crosses the 0db line (zoom "way" in so you can get it exact.) That will help a lot in preventing spurious digital clicks.
