    I own a Lexus is250 for 2 years now, ZERO problems compared to my previous ownership of BMW E90 of 2 years, all i can say is BMW = Endless Money Pit

    I have a lexus is250 with over 200k. Havnt had to deal with any major issue. I do have carbon on my exhaust tips but never had any issues or codes. I do give it the italian tune up about once a week. Even if I do have any of these maintenance items come up, its not going to turn me off from the car considering how reliable its already been over the past 15 years. Sun roof works fine. Suspension does not make any sounds. Rear view mirror is faded but not a big deal for a 15 year old car. Dash is fine, not cracked or melted. I like the car because its lexus reliability with awd (amazing with winter tires). I do not baby this car, its my daily beater and I love it because its comfortable and reliable. The only thing that annoys me about the car is it requires 91 octane.

    • @hayden93
      @hayden93 Год назад +3

      Lexus experimented on the 2.5l engine and made it only direct injected and not dual injected which was not the best move, common to have carboned up valves and that becomes a maintenance item every probably 50k miles. Carboned valves lead to loss in performance and efficiency and in extreme cases potentially damage

    • @jasg1240
      @jasg1240 Год назад +3

      @@hayden93 I agree with what you said. I'm not discounting the science behind carbon build up. Personally for me, I've never had the issue and I've never done any sort of carbon cleaning ever! There is no loss in fuel economy at all and as for loss of power, I've never put the car on a dyno but I can tell you it doesn't feel like I've lost any power and the car isn't known for power so who cares. The car has been paid off for many years now and it continues to be a low cost reliable commuter. Let's be honest, the is250 is nothing to brag about. I've been waiting for a long time for this car to give me a reason to get rid of it and buy something else like a B58 bmw, but the is250 never has even given a hint of an issue. Also with over 200k how much can I get for the car on the used car market? Not enough to warrant a carbon cleaning or walnut blasting. Again I'm not saying there isn't a carbon issue with these cars on the internet but my personal experience tells me its been grossly exaggerated.

      My IS250 has also hit 200k miles and it has been trouble free. It’s also easy to work on although the spark plugs on one side are hard to get to. I haven’t had any suspension sounds or carbon issues. Nobody makes perfect issue-free cars but I would not advise against the IS250.

    • @digi051669
      @digi051669 Год назад +1

      In the US you have crappy fuel. In Asia the carbon build up isn't such a big issue. Dash melt yes but the 3is also has the same problem, suspension is fine, quiet and so far as a daily driver with 120,000 km runs like a dream

    Your videos are very informative. I have a 2011 E-350 Cabrio that has been great fun to drive. However, the trim issues you mentioned are very real - most of the “wood” interior trim had to be replaced because it came unglued. The most serious problem, however, came last year when my dealer told me that the rear subframe was so badly rusted that the car was unsafe to drive and said it would cost $6000 to replace (they finally agreed to provide the part but I still had to pay the $3300 labor bill). After some research, I learned that this is a widespread problem for a range of W212s and C-class cars between 2011-2016. Class action lawsuits and recalls in the UK and Canada. My dealer in Arlington VA had more than 40 subframes on back order when they finally fixed mine after a two month wait. Great cars to drive, but Mercedes isn’t stepping up to own the problem.

    The Mercedes w212 has literally one of the most reliable engines that MB has ever produced. The brakes don't wear easy unless you drive it like an idiot and the car you have is at most a 2012 bc of the prefacelift body. What do you expect of the bumper of an 11 year old car? Ask any mechanic working on German and they will tell you that the w212 can run to 300k miles without a problem

    I remember a time when people bought a Mercedes because it had quality that would last. Now they are rolling pieces of crap. The only people that purchase these today are people that know absolutely nothing about cars or they “ think “ it’s a status symbol. When I see someone driving a Mercedes, I just assume that they belong to the “ more money than brains club “
