What's wrong with the mechs? They feel like they belong in the series. It also made the Equalists more menacing since it was really hard to take the mecha tanks down.
@@raheemsmith2996 Well... you are correct and in my opinion that was kinda the point. Technology leaves behind tradition, we've seen it happen in our world and we also see how it is happening in their world. In the past bending was important because it was a matter of survival, most non-benders had to subjugate themselves to powerful benders. Now with the development in technology things are becoming more balanced to everyone. I actually really like what the creators did with the bending, by developing technology people seem like they don't practice as much, which results in making the benders into more regular people because they don't require bending for their survival. Besides, technology involving is normal and even in Atla the fire nation was already quite developed. The mechs may seem weird to some people (I also thought it was a bit out of place at first) but after looking at the bigger picture there is no reason as to why they don't fit. It's a different world, they are bound to evolve differently from our world.
@@brunoss.3273 The disappointing thing about it all is that Legend of Korra took everything that was interesting about the avatar world and made it all a whole lot less interesting. The art of bending, the mystery of the spirits and the spirit world, the cultures and traditions around the 4 nations. In the span of 2 generations bending became punches and kicks, spirits became just animals but with color, the spirit world became just trees but with color and the culture and tradition was replaced with modern New York City. They took all the things unique in ATLA and basically either turned them to simpler familiar to us in real life, or made them so common in the avatar world that they lost their attire. How can you set a story in a world and remove all the interesting things about your world from your story? I think Aang's statue is based more off of "The colossus" considering the pose. But with the style of the city and the copper tarnish color it does seem like it fused with the statue of liberty. Yay.

No matter the flaws in this show I can’t say I don’t enjoy revisiting it, I swear I could watch endless stories in the avatar universe and still enjoy it it’s just such a fun world to explore. I think they did some things really well, I love the animation of course, I like that Korra is the opposite of Aang, I like that they question the role of the Avatar in a new time, I like that the villains seem like real political movements that make sense within the history of the avatar world, I like that korra takes a significant amount of time to get over her disability, and I like Osami a lot and I’m glad her and Korra got together and went against the love triangle bs. There’s so many little gems of greatness in this mess of a show, it feels like it’s constantly held together by spit and duct tape but I can’t help but love it.
I agree with your opinion I too enjoy this show but wouldn't like to rewatch it. The world isn't the same as ATLA but it isn't as good or better either, it's just too steampunk and modern at the same time, people making technological advances is just too fast on this world, they already had Morse codes, radios, and ferris wheels.I think it's just too quick. Imagine being Aang and in just about 40 years they already has Zeppelins and communications. I don't really like the Osami ending up with Korra, not being sexist but it just doesn't have a build up and feels like the show just wants to appeal to LGBTQ+ so hard and earn respect but in reality, this show is dying.
The show questions the role of the avatar? The role of the avatar doesn’t really change that much by the end of the show. I feel like the show kind of dances around the question of what is the avatar’s place in a modernized world by constantly dishing out new bad guys for Korra to fight. I would have loved to have seen her try and figure out what her place in society is when there’s no villains to fight. Speaking of which, the political ideologies of the villains kind of get strawmaned in some ways. Especially Zaheer’s anarchy is mostly chaos shtick.
@@austinjohnsen4430 Yeah I see what you mean, I think the villains set up a lot of good questions about the avatar in the modern world but it would’ve been nice to see Korra figure out how she wants to use her position, albeit I understand if the show didn’t want to offer a concrete answer for that. I don’t think it’s fair to compare the villains to real world ideologies as if they’re supposed to be a 1 to 1 allegory. I think the villains work well in their own fictional universe and make sense in that world, but when you compare them to real political movements it gets messy. The worst example is Amon = Communism, Amon makes perfect sense in the world of Avatar where there are literal superpowered people who oppress others with their genetic superiority that an anti bender movement would arise. Comparing benders to the rich upper class is not a good comparison because one is genetic and the other isn’t, they’re completely different circumstances that would lead to different political movements. Similarly Zaheer shouldn’t be a direct representation of our real world anarchism, he’s meant to represent air bender philosophy taken to the extreme. He has surface level similarities with anarchism but his core values are taken from an entirely fictional culture and I don’t think he was ever meant to be a perfect representation of real world philosophy. Like, of course these characters aren’t good representatives of real world political movements, I don’t think they’re supposed to be when they’re so closely tied to the fictional lore of that universe. Actually now that I think about it my original comment was kinda dumb for even comparing them in the first place so my bad on that one.
@@frickinfrick8488 Korra’s actually pretty similar to Aang in the sense that neither of them need to make a difficult choice for the greater good in the end. Aang doesn’t have to kill Ozai as he feared he would, and Korra doesn’t need to give up her role as the avatar as she knows it in a modernized world. It obviously would have been much bolder if these shows went the opposite direction with these characters. Of course if they did that with Korra we probably wouldn’t get any dope bending fights, which is kind of one the main appeals of this franchise, so yeah. You hit the nail right on the head of why we shouldn’t really bring real world political ideologies into this too much. And on a side note, Zaheer’s kind of an idiot. Did he have a plan to account for the inevitable power vacuum that killing world leaders would create? Like maybe keep a watchful eye to make sure no other dictators rise up?
This season would have been good minus the love triangle, the mechs/the entire thing with Hiroshi, and the bloodbending reveal. And the Deus ex Aang. Season 2 is a lot harder to fix. But seasons 3 and 4 were great!
Honestly, I think season 2 would be the easiest to fix since it actually had some really interesting concepts. A civil war between the northern and southern water tribe sounds cool af and I wanted to see more of that. The spirits were also pretty cool and I actually liked the origins episodes. The biggest problem I have is that neither of those stories connect with each other very well which causes the execution to be poor. Either do a season about the spirits or about the civil war and bam, fixed and amazing.

Bro the reason LoK has such god awful love triangles hindering the actual plot and snuffs the possibility of having a wholesome gang like Atla is because of Bryke lol. They literally wanted to pull the same shit with Aang, Katara and Toph, but the headwriter Aaron and Liz Ehasz vehemently opposed the idea. They were also behind Toph, Azula, Iroh's character and Zuko's arc. Unfortunately LoK didn’t have the Ehasz duo in their team, thus the catastrophe.
AngieWinchester338 I also love the show even if it does have some flaws but the korra is a Mary Sue thing was always so stupid to me because in the original avatar azula could easily firebend as a baby but korra the avatar doing that is forced ? two words double standards
Carla Carrero Azula trained for her power she was a prodigy one of the episodes showed her training to bend lightning . How is it western? The architecture of Republic City doesn't look particularly western. It's not 20's New York. It's Hong Kong. Open up image google and look for 1920s Hong Kong, and you'll see Republic City.
@@Carabas72 You do remember Hong Kong was a British colony at that time, right? The architecture you see from such old photos is Victorian and Edwardian: heavily western influenced in their aesthetics.
That being said, Republic City does feel a little out of place as a modernized urban metropolis when we still kinda feel like much of the world is still rural and agrarian.
@@gtf234 It doesn't feel out of place at all. If feels like a highly advanced Fire Nation city with Earth Kingdom influence.

I can agree it's fun to watch though. The animation & fight choreography were on-point.
My biggest problem with this season was the mechs. They really weren't necessary. Plus the romance stuff was rushed and I didnt care about it, especially where it ended up.
What's wrong with the mechs? They feel like they belong in the series. It also made the Equalists more menacing since it was really hard to take the mecha tanks down.
@@vetarlittorf1807 Dude, have you watched avatar?Everything involved bending but now,it's barely important anymore.
Blake Bridges my only grip is the love triangle everything else was awesome
They didn't need to take the Earth Kingdom to skyscrapers this early, or at the very least they could have set the story at a more interesting time in avatar history.
LoK in a nutshell:
S1 - Overhyped because of its legacy. Not bad per se but didn't need to exist
S2 - Improvised dumpster fire that exists only because S1 was successful and Nick wanted more of that green paper. Everyone pretends it didn't happen
S3 - The writers realizing this is an actual show now and try to patch the glaring plot holes and errors from previous seasons
S4 - I honestly have no idea how to describe this season but an amalgamation of the previous 3
What plot holes?
I thought there were only 3 seasons?

Nope, there was 4
That whole lion turtles giving people bending didn't really make sense

Why so many comments on the blackmail against Tenzin I can’t stop laughing
I think Aang's statue is based more off of "The colossus" considering the pose. But with the style of the city and the copper tarnish color it does seem like it fused with the statue of liberty.
Yay.

*GOD OF WAR FLASHBACKS*
Ha

Korra did train yes but what is bullshit is her bending 3 elements at like the age of 5 that’s stupid because it is out of no where and impossible because every avatar had to train to bend all 4 but kira can already bend at the age of 5 aang knew he was the avatar before he trained but he couldn’t bend fire water or earth at all.Kora breaks the rules of bending of that alone.
Carla Carrero Not saying you and the other guy can’t love the show but the flaws are there and not a double standard cuz azula and Korra are written very differently
