I actually own a PSVR (my first VR HMD that I bought a few months after it launched) and eventually upgraded to an OG Quest, Rift CV1 and Rift S (got it for the upgraded resolution over my CV1). I still enjoy playing specific games on my PSVR (i.e. Astrobot, Blood and Truth, Grand Turismo Sport and ACE Combat 7 VR missions), but my biggest gripe with the PSVR are the damn "outdated" Move controllers and the at-times "flaky tracking". When I play either my Quest or Rift, I get spoiled by spot-on tracking and especially THUMB STICKS on the touch controllers. However, I'll eventually get a PS5 probably when they finally release the PSVR2 because I do like the VR games that get exclusive to the Playstation platform.
Try turn off flickering lightning when using move controllers. Because it uses light to detect move position, I have noticed that low quality lightning that flickers, affect tracking experience and make it flaky

The only down side on the Occulus Quest 2 for some people (not I) might be that you are required to have a Facebook account to use it because that's how you log into the system.
Why would this be an issue? Just sign up to Facebook log into quest and never use Facebook dont see how this is a problem do you sign up to psn or xbox live?
@@herbz2hot2 I agree, but there are a lot of people are very leery about Facebook, whether it gets used regularly or not. So it would be aodwnside for someone like that.
For me is not a problem too, but the real risk with facebook is on bans, if you get a ban for any reason (which can be without reason) you are fucked up cause you lose all the games you bought.
Just got a new RTX 2060 gaming laptop and an Oculus Quest 2. Loving the portability. I've single-handedly caused 6 people I know to want to get into VR now, because my entire setup fits in a laptop bag, and a drawstring pouch for my Oculus box. Being so easily portable allowed them to see games like Skyrim VR and Half-Life Alyx in person at their place, which blew them away. Many people have no idea how far VR has come since the phone VR days.
I need a PC to buy Half Life Alex on the OQ2? I just got one last week, I know you can buy games in the headset alone without a PC or phone, but some games do need a PC, sidequest is what I think it's called?
More like the PSVR was built to compete with the original oculus rift, a generation of consoles ago. Had much of the same problems of the old vr headsets, low resolution, too many wires and such. The next PSVR probably (and should goddamn be) a proper current gen VR head set, and with sony's current focus on making everything digital (with the new console having a whole version that only accepts digital games) i hope it is as simple as the Quest 2.
I mean I took my oculus quest 2 to a family event .. and my cousins bf had the ps5 and we were all trying out the ps5 (I really like the controller) but my oculus got everyone hooked.. I literally spent the whole night playing the ps5 by myself while they passed the ve around watching each other play with chrome cast on the tv. Lol soo it’s safe to say the oculus was my best purchase of the year for entertainment systems.
I have used PSVR for 3+ years and I got the Oculus Quest 2 this October when it launched. Here are my impressions. Games: Both have meaningful exclusives, but I find it annoying that many Oculus Rift games I was interested in cannot be played on Oculus Quest. In some cases you have paired down alternatives instead. So instead of Robo Recall from Oculus Rift, you get Robo Recall Unplugged on the Quest. Overall from what I have seen the past has been better on PSVR in terms of exclusives, while the present and future looks to be better for Oculus Quest. I imagine this is due to Sony having a PSVR successor for PS5 planned but not ready to show yet. This category is most subjective, so let's just call it neutral with future looking brighter for Quest Controllers: I find the Oculus Quest 2 controllers uncomfortable to hold / use for game like Beat Saber because there is not enough heft to allow you to hold like a sword. There are accessories available to extend the heft specifically addressing this problem for Oculus Quest (released last year) but not yet for Oculus Quest 2 (released this year). The Oculus Quest 2 controllers are fine to hold / use for gun games with many viable options that support full locomotion using the analog sticks for movement. Even so there are some games that only support teleportation instead of including full locomotion like Robo Recall Unplugged. So Oculus wins on guns while PSVR PS Move still wins on swords. Tracking: This is where Oculus Quest 2 controllers disappoint the heaviest. I can consistently get Full Combo in most Beat Saber tracks on Hard and Expert, but I keep getting missed notes due to tracking stability issues with Quest 2 that the PSVR PS Move controllers did not have (even when moving fast, like for Beat Saber on Expert). I can see this is a problem in aggregate by the % of players on Oculus Quest that have completed Achievements / Trophies related to getting Full Combo on Hard / Expert, compared to PSVR. I am hoping software updates can continue to improve the 3-months old Quest 2 controllers tracking capabilities. Gun games you don't move so fast or need to be so accurate, so really only a problem in sword games. It isn't like PSVR didn't improve after it first launched. Headset: The Oculus Quest 2 has substantially better picture quality, but I do miss the OLED of the PSVR headset. The PSVR headset is also lighter (less parts in headset, no battery weight, etc) and more comfortable for getting worked up and sweating. The Quest 2 has some accessories you can get to replace the VR Visor to be more comfortable for more active gaming. My biggest complaint with Quest 2 headset that there is no fix for is that it gives me VR face where it looks like my VR visor part of face got sun burnt. I think the screen is too bright / intense, or maybe the LCD screen technology is more intense on my skin than the PSVR OLED screen. My eyes like the higher picture quality, resolution but my face skin found PSVR more comfortable. I am hoping future Quest (3?) will use OLED but even without it is better overall than PSVR because of how much better resolution and refresh rate it has. I like that every other Quest headset compliant has an accessory solution available. I prefer PSVR for active exercise games like Beat Saber and BoxVR (the FitVR game shown in this video promoting Oculus Quest), but aside that Oculus is better. Functionality: The PSVR is constraint to facing your PS4 camera and there is a fixed play area within which it will track you successfully. Your room lighting also has to be optimal to ensure camera can track your PS Move controllers accurately. The Quest 2 is portable and you can use it for room scale. You can also play games utilizing 360 gameplay. My reason for getting Quest 2 was I want to play Beat Saber 360 levels not supported on PSVR. The Quest 2 is also better for non-gaming options like VR Desktop, watching movies, VR chat, etc. This one has Quest 2 as clear winner. Price: You will end up buying accessories for the Quest to make it more comfortable, but the entry price for the 64GB model is really good. The head strap accessory also comes in a variant that will include additional battery life. It also helps balance the weight of the Oculus headset better on your head. The cheap VR visor it comes with can also be replaced by something more comfortable. The controllers need a heft expansion accessory for sword games. The PSVR price which includes controllers and couple of games is good, but you do have to have PS4, PS4 Pro, or PS5 in order to use it. This one goes to Oculus even if you have to spend additional $100-200 to get totally comfortable. Less in favor of Quest if you want to get the 256GB because you can store lot more games on PS4 / PS5 than even 256GB Quest. But if you are fine with deleting / re-downloading apps, you can make even 64GB support having your most of your favorite games on hand while keeping space to try new games.
Ok ok you wrote a lot and it's late I'm looking for a vr I have a ps5 idk what to get and I don't know much at all I wanna play the walking dead zombie game and mostly shooting games and rec room. Any thing you wanna lmk or just anything???
@@ajfie. Unless you want to get into VR gaming on your PS5 right away, I recommend waiting for NGVR / PSVR2 over getting the PS4 PSVR. The PS4 PSVR works fine on PS5, but it will be obsolete to Next-Gen VR from Sony coming probably 2023 (next year).
If you buy a game that is for both oculus and rift, you only have to buy it once. You have to link to your PC to play the rift game, but crossbuy is supported.
@@Xen0xeroX I bought the Oculus Link cable that allows the Quest 2 to link to PC and play Rift games, but I found my desktop is not compatible. Specifically, my graphics card is not so I would have to upgrade that part before I can play Oculus Rift games on my Oculus Quest 2. I don't want to upgrade the graphics card as that is not the only part that is deprecated to current standards. I plan to wait until my next desktop which would be Windows 11 compatible (requires TPM 2.0) and have higher end VR compatible graphics card before I can try that.
the reason why it shows exactly the same even though the PS5 has a better GPU is because the system is limited to the VR headsets capability itself. For better performance Sony will need to make a more powerful headset for Vr
Standalone quest 2 isnt much better than psvr, psvr has a way better library of games and better graphics + bigger games, LOTS of discounts, better comfort, higher fov, aim controller and oled screen, quest 2 still better tho
@@stevnleo A lot of those things you said are pluses for the Oculus quest 2. The quest has WAY more games as you can hook it up to your computer and steam vr, it has a higher quality screen and has much better controllers. Also it can be wireless and you can take it anywhere without needing anything extra. Also steam gives discounts all the time on games. Also, the features of the Oculus quest 2 greatly outnumber the PSVR headset. Also the trouble he had to go through to get it started would be very annoying.
@I want to suplex Joe Cecot No. If it still needs a PlayStation to play on, and it is still wired than it would be bad. Also by the time that comes out the quest 3 would be out and it would crush it.
@@bingsmith3291 I think i would rather have the power of a ps5 through my headset and tethered than a mobile chipset, heavier headset, and a 2 hour battery life. @@Luna5829 no it's not. You just need to block out background lighting and have your camera positioned correctly and beat saber runs hella smooth (70+ hours on psvr beat saber with minimum problems).
I bought the PS4 Pro VR two yrs ago. I'm tired of always getting games a year after it comes out everywhere else. PSVR just got Gadgeteer Vr and I was loving it. It's just it can't run the full game. It got so buggy and crashing I had to quit playing it. I ordered a Quest 2 for $399 and got the bundle extra battery, strap, and case. It gets here Monday and looking forward to it.
Im pretty sure people were just wondering if the PS5 actually boosted the headset at all. Obviously not. Anyway I suspect the PSVR 2 will have better quality, but not better overall.
Allarian ps5 only boosted frame rate... graphics, resolutions are all same since PSVR device is the same... But, based on rumors, PSVR2 will be on pair with best pc vr like htc vive pro if not better.. I personally hope soo👍🏻
Decisions? I picked BOTH! Having both means you can literally access all VR games that have been and will be released for years to come. And don't give me the garbage of "but I can't afford both T_T" if you can't afford the 2 cheapest headsets in a niche tech then you are clearly in the wrong hobby.
I bought the quest 2 from my local Wal-Mart on an impulse buy. So if you don't want to wait on shipping check there first. Enjoying it so far. It's impressive being a AIO unit. I don't think you could get a better VR experience for the money. Haven't found any game's that keep me drawn in yet but I plan to try out some steam game's as well. It is fun to hop around on different game's though and the loading time's have been minimal.
I wanted a oculus quest but i buyed a ps vr cuz i didn't had too many money but i have to say it:i don't regret it but i still like more the oculus quest
Thank you so much!! My son is a huge gamer. Today is his 11th birthday and I couldn't decide which would be best for him! Thanks again!! I also like your entertainment set up (might steal your set up idea)!
The cameras do not track your hand for pass through, rather the headset can feel the taps on the side of the headset using the internal sensors. Probably the inertial measurement unit.
I was literally thinking of getting a psvr for my birthday (which was some time ago), becuz it can be used on both ps4, ps5 and pc (steam only), but a friend of mine told me about the oculus stand-alone stuff, so i decided to go for that. My decision on getting the quest 2 was from my best friend who has it too, and who had told me about an experience he once had with it, and it sounded rly cool so i went for it. No regrets at all (hand-tracking isnt rly the best though - but does the job, but incredible headset anyway)
On one u can play RE8, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Astro Bot, Wipeout Omega, Blood and Truth, The Impatient, Farpoint and Firewall Zero Hour(with aim controller)on the other one u can't. Is this even a match?!
On the quest you can play, every other pc vr title via link cable Sony doesn't have, and I'm not even mention ahem, adult titles on steam and elsewhere . Aim controller is Shiite compared to oculus touch.
@ I do have rechargeable batteries, but it's silly to stop playing for a certain time to remove the batteries from the controllers to charge them and put new ones
This is a pretty easy decision for me as I plan on getting the Quest 2. I have the PSVR and bought iti when it came out because it was the cheapest one on the market. I'm not going to hate on it or anything, but it is not a good VR headset at all and it was a nice and cheapest headset at the time so I appreciate that something affordable was finally on the market although it was still a bit expensive. Now that Quest 2 is out, it is another cheap stop gap for me until something really cool comes out in a few years. I want it mainly for the wireless feature.
Except its not. He is blantly lying about several things. The psvr is more powerful thanks to the ps4/ps5. There is just one cable from the device. Occulus mobile gpu cant run games like skyrim/halflife without a gaming pc which makes this a 1500usd not a 299usd review. The shooting is fine on psvr when set up. Not as bad as he said.
@@RUclipsr-lv6eh not only that he's comparing a 2016 product with a 2020 product. Never ever ever will I ever buy a wireless helmet & I don't own a PC nor do I want one
To be honest, i dont think this is a fair comparison because psvr was back in the early days of vr where everyone had a rift cv1 psvr or vive but the quest 2 came out in 2020. Also i think 8 generations ahead is a bit much. The ps series is only 5 generations but the latest rivals most gaming pcs and 8 generations is more than you may think.
Oh it will be, and don’t worry. PlayStation isn’t even trying to compete with quest. It’ll be quest trying to compete with PlayStation. With the tech Sony has and the hybrid triple A model they are going for it’ll be a no brainer.
First of all you have to buy a Ps5 witch is about 500$ AND Buy the PsVr Witch is close to 300$ Witch totals to: 800$ And its 4 years old, besides that its always wired to the Ps5 witch is uncofmortoble But the Quest 2 is 300$ And does not require a Pc or a consone lastly its fully wireless (Sorry if there is grammatical errors i was writing this while in a rush)
with the sale sony is having with psvr at the moment, im going psvr plus they all add to my platinum collection both are very strong competitors, i feel either way you go you are missing out on the other if youre a proper non biased gamer, go both
You don't even need a PC, you can wirelessly connect to a remote PC service (assuming you've got a good wireless modem) and play PC quality games that way.
To answer on there behalf... I just got mine impulsively.. I am amazed by how ‘immersive’ it is. You really feel like you are IN the game rather than just controlling some one else playing it (normal Xbox/PlayStation). Table tennis feels like the real thing - certain spin is required, and you even talk to people while playing. Can’t recommend Quest 2 enough after just one weekend using
Yeah You can even play any PC VR games on it Even if you don't own a gaming PC there are subscription services that allow you to log into a high end PC and log in to your Steam account and play PC VR games via Stream
I went psvr purely for the games I own already and after trying astrobot which is hands down the best VR experience I've ever tried in gaming but I haven't played half life yet. I'll get an oculous further down the road I'm in no rush. My missus was desperate in getting me the ps5 for Christmas yet all I use it for is to play ps4 games, I've no idea why people seem hell bent on getting it ASAP. Anyway the more competition and more popular VR gets the more games and hopefully even further reductions in price.
I've had the PlayStation VR for about 2 years now and I just recently got the new Oculus Quest 2, In all honesty I would have to say the Quest 2 over ranks the PlayStation VR by a ton! 1. Its cheaper since you need a PS console for the VR. 2. The Quest overpowers the PSVR in comfort. 3. The Quest is mobile and the PSVR is not. 4. Oculus has a better choice of games over the PSVR. 5. The Quest is a hybrid and can connect to PC where the PSVR cannot. 6. The setup for the Quest 2 is infinitely easier then the PSVR setup. PSVR is more of an early gen VR like the Oculus rift and the HTC vive and it has given me plenty of memories i will keep until it turns black for me.
I got them both, but even though quest 2 is better, my first try was in Psvr when it was fresh and new, and must say what Sony did was fantastic and the first entry to VR is special and hard to beat . but now my quest is charged and ready, so I guess I go back to the world of Re4 :)

Psvr screen door effect is gross though, and the tracking is what caused me to upgrade to a full on gaming pc plus vr headset.
The only down side on the Occulus Quest 2 for some people (not I) might be that you are required to have a Facebook account to use it because that's how you log into the system.
Yeah that's a no from me
Why would this be an issue? Just sign up to Facebook log into quest and never use Facebook dont see how this is a problem do you sign up to psn or xbox live?
@@herbz2hot2 I agree, but there are a lot of people are very leery about Facebook, whether it gets used regularly or not. So it would be aodwnside for someone like that.
They still did well (outsold all their previous headsets) despite people saying that people won't let FB do that
For me is not a problem too, but the real risk with facebook is on bans, if you get a ban for any reason (which can be without reason) you are fucked up cause you lose all the games you bought.

I know Sony is holding back if and when PSVR 2 comes out it could be big
More like the PSVR was built to compete with the original oculus rift, a generation of consoles ago. Had much of the same problems of the old vr headsets, low resolution, too many wires and such. The next PSVR probably (and should goddamn be) a proper current gen VR head set, and with sony's current focus on making everything digital (with the new console having a whole version that only accepts digital games) i hope it is as simple as the Quest 2.
With the fact that I can play PCVR wirelessly in the next room over with 0 lag makes the Q2 an actual end all be all headset;
if you need it to be.
I mean I took my oculus quest 2 to a family event .. and my cousins bf had the ps5 and we were all trying out the ps5 (I really like the controller) but my oculus got everyone hooked.. I got the oculus quest 2 for Christmas and it’s the best I recommend it %100000!
This category is most subjective, so let's just call it neutral with future looking brighter for Quest
Controllers: I find the Oculus Quest 2 controllers uncomfortable to hold / use for game like Beat Saber because there is not enough heft to allow you to hold like a sword.
@@ajfie. just wait for the psvr 2
I got a better question, which car is newer? My 1990 Honda Civic? Or my 2020 Honda Civic?
I just got the VR cover facial interface and AMVR's handstraps along with the elite headstrap. It's a must have for the hardcore users.
the reason why it shows exactly the same even though the PS5 has a better GPU is because the system is limited to the VR headsets capability itself. For better performance Sony will need to make a more powerful headset for Vr
Except we knew about psvr2 back in 2018
Psvr is OK I guess
I mean, compared to the quest two it stands no chance but the psvr is still a pretty good vr
Yeah but there are a few major flaws
