I miss when Sci-Fi creators would add all these (ultimately needless) little details, accessible for those that look for it -- For those that genuinely get involved in a story, it really helps them connect to it. On a separate note, I always liked the name "Metaltron' and always thought the episode should have been named this. The reason is that the scene that reveals the Dalek was brilliant, both in regards to Writing and Directing, and I always felt it a shame that the episode's name acted as a spoiler.
Tbf, the reason it’s titled like it is was to increase viewership in the middle of the series in case it dropped off halfway through, which worked if you check out the viewing figures
He woke up on a cart, his mind erased, and the guy next to him said “Hey, you’re finally awake. Got caught up in that Imperial ambush, same as the rest of us…”
If you "fully buy out another person's company" that's not gonna bankrupt them. That's gonna guarantee them some pretty big shares payout and with a company worth in the at least tens of millions (probably hundreds of million) the former CEO afterwards is still gonna be a millionaire
This is very interesting I can’t believe there is so much on this guy. Also I wonder if Henry unearthed international electromatics as he had IE transistors and that cyberman head which is stated to be from the same invasion force that was involved with international electromatics
I recently played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and when looking up for the voice for the character Amalthus, I was like, "OH MY GOSH! IT'S HENRY VAN STATTEN" so I've been thinking about this character a lot lately and it's cool to learn more about his history 😊
If you have any idea how the internet works then "secretly owning the entire internet" is just absolute nonsense. What would be possible is that he like owned most or all major nodes or long range connections but "owning the internet" is just theoretically and practically impossible
Yeah, the thing with y2k was, that nothing happened because we managed to upgrade critical systems before that. So saying that the fuzz about it was for nothing is a tad wrong
I get why they dumped him in Sacremento. It's close to Salt Lake City. But wouldn't it have been great to dump him off in say Santa Fe, San Antonio, or Scranton. You somewhere not that close to Salt Lake City. Heck why not just plant on the side of the road near the Tapen Zee bridge on Interstate 87, here in New York.
I love how deep they used to go back in the day. They created the search engine rose uses in the first episode and if you typed in her search terms it would come up with the same results. I used to think it was so cool.
We have a really weird perspective 23 years out from this because engineers solved the issue and the general public seemingly now fully believe it was fake.
haha I was looking for this comment before I made it myself. Y2K is now seen as just something tin foil hat people believed in because nothing ever happened. When actually it was juts an example of a collative known problem that companies HAD to invest to fix... and. Did. Successfully for the most part *shakes fist at kids in older millennial 😅*
Did he sleep throught the events of Army of Ghosts/Doomsday and The Stolen Earth/Journey's End, as well as every other story set between 2006 and 2012?
Fun Fact. Van Statten says that the next President should be Democrat and in 2012 when we had the US election We got a Democrat president because Obama was elected into his second term so Doctor Who kind of predicted the future
@@zarrg5611 This was 3 years before Obama was elected for his first term and 7 before his second term. The US was in the depths of the Bush era after a chain of Republican presidents. Like when you get politically stuck in a rut for ages with the same party making all the choices it can be hard to see the other option in power. But like this was 2005 RTD and the Doctor Who producers weren't to know what was gonna happen in the next two elections so they just wrote that line and put it out into the world. It just so happens that what was said in that line actually happened.
I wouldn't know if I'd call it 'tragic' because that implies I feel sorry for what happens to him for being the person he is, as its a fate that Elon Musk totally deserves.

@@thetasigma412 They also revealed it in the preceding episode’s “Next week on Doctor Who” epilogue, which I assumed was for that very reason.
If they made this episode today, Bob Odenkirk would definitely have played Van Statten
Why? Because of Saul Goodman? The only thing Van Statten and Saul Goodman have in common is that they both wear suits and are balding.
other actors exist, u kno
He’s in some place beginning with S

@@RomeroDiseaserewatch the episode 👍
Wow I wasn’t expecting this video until the Sontaran 2-parter
Ratigan is more like Zuckerberg tbf

Oddly enough, he had named his telescope "rosebud".

And if anyone would theoretically own the internet in Alrest, it would definitely be Indol... Amalthus would have some really good PR people.
I played in Japanese so when I looked up Amalthus/Marubeni’s VA, I was SO shocked that it was him.

It's fiction. It really doesn't need to be analysed like that. Just enjoy it for what it is

Intruder window was indeed funny. Laugh.
I'd love it if there was a paper headline in the background of the 60th saying 'Van Statten and Lumic RICHES TO RING'

So glad someone covered this! I love the Dalek novelisation. Great video as always!
When I clicked on this video, I did not expect to finally learn what Y2K is
the reason why y2k was such a non issue IS because millions of dollars were spent on making sure it wasnt a major problem
I love how deep they used to go back in the day. They created the search engine rose uses in the first episode and if you typed in her search terms it would come up with the same results. I used to think it was so cool.
Do Adam Mitchell next
I'm pretty sure he has
6:30: plot twist it’s bill
A "minor issue" IT had to solve, the Y2k Bug cost $100 Billion dollars in 2000 money to fix. Hardly minor. lol

sleep no more ,when???
I kinda thought Luke Rattigan from S4 was the Elon Musk predictor character
This was really interesting. Please do more, if you like it :)
Did he sleep throught the events of Army of Ghosts/Doomsday and The Stolen Earth/Journey's End, as well as every other story set between 2006 and 2012?
In the episode, I was honestly hoping for the Dalek to exterminate Van Statten.
Interesting how he seemed to be regaining his memories.
I wonder if anyone else did?
Hes in the first mummy movie hes one of the American cowboys in the film.
I love the novelisation
YEO THE TITLE
Great vid
Very informative video!
Where do you get all the info about his past and dad?
Damn...Sacramento
Well, atleast she is not evil and heartless..than he would´ve been sent to Detroit
I heard he’s in Aberdeen

Well there are only 2 parties that have any power, so its a coinflip on if you get it right.

It could have been worse. He could have been dumped in Swindon.

Nice!
Womp Womp
I take issue with that title...Van Statten is far more charismatic and interesting than Musky Elon.
Had no idea Diana was a fbi agent undercover even in the show
