I’ve tamed 2 of these guys on official and learned quite a bit so here’s my small guide. Amargasaurs only gain taming bar to whatever they aggro on it’ll give a little roar to show its aggroed to something, the taming is not associated with the creature but the amount of health it has, it will not aggro on your tames once synced up so snow owls and a great way for cheap healing. I do not recommend a shotgun I would use something like a pistol or a fab sniper. The way I tamed them is I led it in the desert with a managarmr and used the frost breath on wild dinos until the amargasaur got close and I hopped off my tame and shot the wild dinos with my gun. Daedons, carnos and alphas are all good options for taming bar. Daedons and carnos give around 4-5%, whilst alphas give a good 20% to even 40% taming bar for a 140 amargasaur. I hope this helped happy hunting people :)
Definitely helps demystify the taming process/mechanics. I myself was leaning on precision (avoid friendly fire) and material efficiency, if you will. Meaning the best dmg% long rifle and pistols I can find, given their ammo is quite cheap AS WELL AS their own repair cost and easier repairability with a smithy rather than fab. Also, hats off for doing this on officials. I'm on my 10x taming LAN server and I'm still failing not just finding a 140+, but having it not get itself killed by a fruit fly before I can even approach it lol.... Day 4 .....
snow volcano and desert areas, also if you are up to taming one of these you would surely have a sino so argies are a easy kill and it can also give you a height advantage plus makes jumping off of cliffs safer
Hah I just thought about checking if you had uploaded a taming video for this dino yet, as I watched your previous two as well, which helped. And here it is 3 minutes after you upload and I come across it. Hah.
Just finished watching it. Man that took a lot of work. I can believe you when you say half a week. They're one of the more deceptively frustrating tames to get. I've had all my attempts so far die to attackers or turn on me from friendly fire lol. Gonna try to lead them away from snow and see.
Step by Step. 1. Prepare soups and kibble. 2. Tame an argy. 3. build a small Fodder pen you can fill up with wild dire wolves and daeodons. (Good idea to put this next to a cliff in case you need to lead pesky stuff or unwanted amargas off the edge.) 4. Fill the pen with 30 to 40 of them. (probably don't need that many but you can't leave once you start taming so better to have a surplus.) 5. build an amargasaur trap. 6 dino gates snapped into a rectangle. (Make absolutely sure this pen is far enough away from the first that the amarga can't detect the fodder pen prematurely but close enough that you can grab a tame with the argy without losing your tame link. Get familiar with the distance by testing it on some garbage amargas you don't intend to keep.) 6. Immediately in front of the amarg trap. build a pen for dropping fodder wolves 1 at a time. Make sure it has 3 high walls on the side facing the amarg pen. You want this drop pen so close that when you open the doors on the amarg pen it still can't escape due to the drp pen in front of it. (opening and closing the doors repeatedly becomes useful for getting the amarga to aggro.) (test on trash amarga first) 7. Lead the real McCoy into the trap and begin. (Good idea to just sync with every amarga you encounter along the way then simply lead them off a cliff when you get to your trap and put the good one in.
It doesn't work on alpha creatures, but the net gun can pin small creatures, and in a place like this where you can control to a degree what your tame encounters, it helps greatly.

What an awkward thing to tame! Personally I love these new taming methods. Putting 200 tranqs into a tame doesn't take skill only time. I love that skill is now the way to get good dinos. Big thanks for doing the research for us! You are awsome!
Yeah, that's what I said lol. Cut to 4 hours of taming a max level Amargasaurus, and... I still love it but you're right, it takes quite a bit of skill!
wonder if a "air gapped Dual Trap" would work. one side for Amargs, one side for hostile creature. Air gap prevents damage from hostiles to armarg, but with its range can still aggro/attack?
The air gap works. (Some issues with getting aggro but only on about 1/4 of enemies.)The problem is having enough enemies on hand to see you through the process. Fill a nearby pen up with argy grabbed wolves and daeodons first.
Two traps next to each other with one foundation in between. Lure Amarga into one trap which is partially defended by door frames. Lure other creatures to trap next to Amarga. Kill and enjoy taming bar going up with minimal risk :D
Problem is the tame cancels if you go too far away and you'll run out of enemies to kill. Build another pen nearby and Argy drop a bunch of wolves into it first. Then you can burn through them one at a time to tame.
@@jontobin5942 Yep that's the point I was getting to with luring additional creatures into the neighbouring trap but I also like your idea of use an airship argy to replenish diminishing creature stocks :D Thank you for adding to the discussion, I'm sure people reading your comment will find it useful.
Idea, what if you take baby Rex’s or Gigas if you have them to spare. Whistle them passive and unclaimed them near the amargasaurus, but outside of Agro range. Then lead your new hunting buddy to the slaughter house.
I'm putting my guess in now. Steve will trap his own tame so he can pre-damage the Alpha whatever and then kite it back to the caged tame for the easy kill. It's the only way I can see it being done with an alpha without completely losing the tame.
I haven’t played ark since aberration it’s crazy how far this game has come, nooblets is the only ark channel I watch even though I’ll probably never play ark again lol
I wonder if it's possible/better to build a pen, lead it inside, create a defensive wall beyond it, and aggro creatures to come near before killing them youserlf.
Good God, Man! That looks time-consuming. Thank you for the info. Appreciate your vids which are usually short and concise, but I can see where this one required more time.
Here's a tip if none of you tamed on yet. You done have to kill the argo ones you can net them it will help so you don't hit the amargas your trying to tame, then all you do is run behind the amargas and it will show a text letting you tame it use exceptionally kibble works best from what I know. Note doesn't matter what armor you have on jus as long as you take both soups and will be fine 🙂
The Volcanic Area can also have Armagas (a.k.a the Walking War Crime) but you'll have to be more careful with it as Magmasaurs spawn there. There are other things like Allo Packs, Wyverns, Scorpions, Mantises and Centipedes, but Magmasaurs will be your main threat. Lava flows are also an issue. Rexes and potentially can wander into the biome/spawn in, too. So, to anyone who dares attempt to find a Armagas in that area to tame: Good luck with that.
Me and a buddy had a pretty easy taming session. We trapped a giga in a 3 gate trap near a cliff. Then brought an amargasaurus to the lower area where it could see it. Then one of us just shot at the giga and the other healed it with an owl. It didn't take too long and we had to heal the giga back up about 1 and a half times for each amargasaurus. Haven't seen anyone try this. So thought i would mention it.
If u have an engram mod or have learned the engrams from genesis 2, u could use the nets to stun creatures. I u choose to do he dthis, I would recommend trying to tame the amargasaurus in desert biome as almost every creatures there can be netted and is not nearly as dangerous as the snow.
Does it only target wild aggro creatures? Theory, can you use enemy's creatures? Maybe you can use baby creatures? Perhaps unclaimed baby's like baby rexs, carnos, even baby gigas? For PVE official this may not work but PvP could test it.
You can easily tame one of these using a giga solo, although you just need to be careful the amaragarus always does a roar when ever it gets agro which allows a pause that the giga rider can use yo kill the dino which enables taming effectiveness.
Some of the best areas to tame them as well is by red obb since they are a ton of magmasaurs that boost the effectiveness a ton. Tamed a 150 on offical (xbox) and several low level females.
Love your videos, and you usually have THE most accurate guides I've found, but you got 1 thing wrong in this one. Try the sniper rifle instead, and a pike for close range. That way, you don't shoot it in its face over and over and reset it
Build a trap for the amargasaurus. Use a shadowmane to hunt with it. If you have a pack of them, you deal more damage and in a pack, the male shadowmane does a bleed a tack. It also does a roar similar to the utiranus, The female turns any creatures that are tamed invisible. You should also have a trap nearby for keeping the aggressive creatures you want to use. Good luck.
(I rewritten this comment after testing my theory) So I built a trap to tame Amargas, I don't recommend this trap because it's quite flawed. I built a stone gateway, that is 4 foundations wide, and 8 foundations long. I put 2 high stone doorways on the outer side of the foundations. I made 2 doorways 4 high, added 2 ceilings, and ladders. I filled the trap with 16 carnos. And I used a quetzal to bring my wild level 130 amarga to the trap. I used a flame thrower from the ceiling to kill the carnos easily. I put random levels in there, but I don't recommend adding creatures over level 80. Taming more than one amarga at the same time is too chaotic, so I did it solo. This actually works! You can tame an amarga this way, but you can't guarantee a perfect tame. I would've tamed it, but I shot it with my assault rifle🤦. Putting two layers of stone doorways or windows if you'd like, protects your tame better. But I don't think that half of the kill counts were counting(I did use raptors and carnos on that run tho). Again, this trap could work, but it's challenging. DON'T BOTHER KILLING RAPTORS, THEY ARE TERRIBLE( avoid direwolves too, they're pack boost is deadly). Btw, I put the gateway on the 4 foundation side. If you want to try this, be my guess. My advice, strew traps, you're better off taking the risk by killing foes in safer zones. These tames are HARD, and take a LOT of patience. Get some good weapons, good armor, your taming resources, and wing it! I hope my experience was helpful, good luck!
The desert is infinitely better than the snow area for taming amargasaurus. There is no huge pack of wolves that decimate health. The desert area they spawn usually has solitary creatures so it's alot better.
have you thought about carrying like an advanced pistol or something as an alternative weapon you could switch to for when dinos get in close? would give you less chance of an accidental shotgun blast
This taming of the snow area Amargasaurus is a lot easier than using the desert ones. The taming rate is based on the 'danger rating' for creatures you kill. Both Manas and Wyverns that spawn near the snow area and are easier to kill and higher value than the creatures desert Amargas' territory. The Desert has creatures like the Thyla with bleed that will quickly drain the HP of the Amarga down to bellow even half. Note that you can often net the Amarga and often the Amarga won't aggro even if the message about 'Doesn't like being attack by your tribe' appears. This can be useful for keeping the Amarga out of fights it will lose (e.g. Alpha Carnos) that are extremely efficient at raising the taming. The net is also super effective for dealing with creatures that you do not want to attack the Amarga, such as impossible to hit vultures or Manas. If you have Genesis Part 2, use the Tek Pistol. You can quickly see the health of any wild creatures with the healing mode. If you have enough element on hand, you can also heal up any high level but heavily damaged Amargas before (or between) taming sessions.
I would build a oen with stone doorways. Trap my tame in it, then lead other dinos in, so that i can control how much heat i put on the amargasaur. If i find something too strong, i can damage it and then lead it in.
Thanks nooblets, always helpful when it comes to my favorite survival game of all time, been watching you a while, probably gonna start my own Lost Island series on my YT channel

Nooblets if you tamed a lot of snow owls and then leave them on passive and let your amargasours kill it dose it get Xp because if it dose then couldn’t u feed your owls to the Dino
⭐ what if you just build a taming pen and lure the amargasaurus inside where it's relatively safer... Then you can take aggro flowers, run around and aggro creatures nearby to follow you to the amargasaurus, then kill them near the amargasaurus and whabam..!
If you’re good with a fab sniper I’d use one of those just so you can ensure you’re not hitting your tame with headshots from a distance keep a shotgun on you for close range
Since Fjordur has come out have you tried using the desmodus to help with the hunting? Im finding the ability to pick up creatures and kill them useful but the bat has a wide attack box that I accidentally hurt the arma with.
I’m stacking muts on these guys now, after a lot of headache I think for me the easiest was using a giga in the snow area try to run ahead and focus rexes and Yuti. For wolf packs or pigs many times I charged em even if they didn’t help to tame. I also brought a fab sniper and shotgun for when the Amargasaurs was to close to the hostiles or my giga would 1 shot em. Hope this method helps someone. Oh and def leave giga on passive even when the amarg randomly attacks it some times.
Can you just build A trap around it after your synced to keep other Dino from being able to damage it then just lure stuff to your trap and kill it by the trap?
Trap the amargasaur with dino gates, when you get a skiff its easier. Then just hurt stuff and drop it in the pen with the amargarsaur to easily tame them without them taking damage.
I found these in the desert biome on lost island. The best thing about that area is all u fight is mantis, carnos and the like. Might take a bit longer but way safer.
You might want to consider a single shot weapon that only shoots a single bullet rather than shotguns. While they're good, you can much more easily hit the amarga with a shotgun.

Amargas aggro on megatherium (giant sloth) as well. Taming is based on damage dealt to enemies not kills so a beefy enemy in a cage works.

That is actually a really good idea. Net gun the dinos and let the amargasaurus do the rest
Nooblets if you tamed a lot of snow owls and then leave them on passive and let your amargasours kill it dose it get Xp because if it dose then couldn’t u feed your owls to the Dino
No, it only gains effectiveness with wild dinos.
Thank you for the tips I've been answers for two days straight and still haven't managed to do this
thanks for all the time and hard work!!!
Thank you very much for the video!
⭐ what if you just build a taming pen and lure the amargasaurus inside where it's relatively safer... Then you can take aggro flowers, run around and aggro creatures nearby to follow you to the amargasaurus, then kill them near the amargasaurus and whabam..!
Love the vid the time it took to tame ,i wont be doing this for awhile. Thankyou for the help as to what to do.
I wonder if unclaimed dinos would count. if so, you could breed up a bunch of rexes, spinos or gigs, unclaim them and kill them.
9:40 Why aren't you using the tame tracker...??
Best taming guides, great job again
If you’re good with a fab sniper I’d use one of those just so you can ensure you’re not hitting your tame with headshots from a distance keep a shotgun on you for close range
Since Fjordur has come out have you tried using the desmodus to help with the hunting?
Im finding the ability to pick up creatures and kill them useful but the bat has a wide attack box that I accidentally hurt the arma with.
I have been subed for a year now
I’m stacking muts on these guys now, after a lot of headache I think for me the easiest was using a giga in the snow area try to run ahead and focus rexes and Yuti.
They also spawn in the far south in the oasis like area
Ayo thank u for the tutorial man! I needed that.
Thanks man! Very nice!
Trap the amargasaur with dino gates, when you get a skiff its easier. Then just hurt stuff and drop it in the pen with the amargarsaur to easily tame them without them taking damage.
You can just use a quetzal to pick up one.
I found these in the desert biome on lost island. The best thing about that area is all u fight is mantis, carnos and the like. Might take a bit longer but way safer.
It's actually much worse if you aren't able to spot troodons/vultures before the amargasaurus does.
Are you able to use sinos while taming these?
You are awesome Nooblet. Thank you
Why does Nooblets love the shotgun so much c’mon dude 🥴
Great video.
Thank you.
You might want to consider a single shot weapon that only shoots a single bullet rather than shotguns. While they're good, you can much more easily hit the amarga with a shotgun.
Thank you, man...
Keep it up Nooblets 👍
I wonder if this works with multiple players at once?
I think you can find them in the lava area to
can you trap it in a box and fly in raptors and wolves in another trap near by?
Can an otter be used to regulate your temperature?
Hey does the taming speed multiplier helps?
I don't see any difference between x1 and x6 speed
i had it x1 on that video
Can I just make a lot of crossbows and trans dart and just sleep him then feed him????? That’s what me and my squad do our taming
Do the amargasaurus have to damage the target prior to the kill to gain taming, or can you just kill things for them?
You can just kill them as soon as it's agro'd
You can help him kill the creatures you're attacking.
you could give a shot at trapping the amurgasaur and leading enemy to the trap with a tank stego or trike idk if it will attack your herb tames
How do you do that solo without going out of taming range? :P
By making a mobile trap
Can you ride around on a monkey with a gun to do this or will it not count? Figured if you could ride a monkey while shooting it could tank for you.
Just go into your menu and select track team. Then the game will keep track of your tame for you
