I had a Baja version for About 10 years during My stay in Africa. Served Me well.
What s bike & what a time.
The Power Of Dreams ❤
I actually seen a video of a Baja version the other day, pretty cool
you were right. it is in very good condition for a 30 year old bike. what a find.
Yea got the carb cleaned now, it will be the next video!
YES! YES! YES!😁😀😎😁
I will be your biggest fan throughout this project/series! Great find! Beautiful bike! I know the feeling of going back in time and refurbishing stuff that I use to own, and wish I’d never gotten rid of the original one... Heck, sometimes I even have dreams when I’m sleeping at night that I still have something that I always loved and enjoyed, just to wake up and think to myself, “where did I put that?”, Lol! This is going to turn out fantastic! I think the only difference in the one I had was mine was an ‘86 with a red motor.
Did you ever look up the Elsinore MR50, which was my first bike? I came across another RUclipsr the other day, who just happens to be restoring a XR650 right now, and he mentioned that his 1st bike was a MR50, and he also said that there were very few of us who got to experience one of those bikes. So now I’m under the impression that Honda didn’t make very many of them, because you’re not the first Honda enthusiasts I’ve come across that had not heard of an Elsinore MR50... I’m also getting the impression that I might even be older than you too... Lol!
Yea that MR50 is pretty cool, I don’t remember ever seeing one but that has been a lot of years ago, it would be sweet to find one of those to restore
Had a 250L when I was 16. I was a scrawny kid and I thought that thing was going to eventually break my leg when it would kick back. Wish I had mine back now.
Yea it been a long time sense I had a kick start bike, I sure like the electric start lol
Gonna be a great series to watch . I had an 1984 XL 250 and now have a crf250 rally.thanks
Yea it’s just cool to bring back the old memories! I can still remember all of the good time I had on my 94 XR250R, I wish back then that I would have bought the L
What a great find! Looking forward to the next video!
Thanks for watchin Kurt, part to will be this evening
Like you i gor one wirh 2100 miles and one for 9456 miles. Both have been redone all rober gaskets and seals in engine, shoks and breaks have been redone. They run like new, the high mile one i added new rings and lap the valves. Juat so good. Dont ever sell it.
I'm in the process of restoring my 1991 xr250l that has only 1600miles on it. I've owned since new garage kept etc. I redid the carb and brakes mainly because anything that had touched ethanol fuel or brake fluid is in bad shape. One thing I found out is OEM parts are scarce and finding a pulse generator is like searching for the holy grail so hope your's is in good shape..
Yea you are right about that, OEM parts are getting hard to find for sure
Excited for you 👊💪
Thanks Dave, been busy working on it for the past couple days lol. Fun project
Wow, that’s a score!
Super fun project for sure, I have been cleaning on it today, next will be the oil change and changing the brake fluids. It’s pretty satisfying to work on.
Score!
I’d bet that bike would last longer than the 300L
Might do it! There is a lot of them around with a lot of miles and still tickin
Gona be a very nice bike to restore
Super fun project, took it for the first ride today
Were there any other XRxxxL models besides the xr650l and xr250l?
I want one they not many left though
Yea they are hard to find, especially with low miles
