I just want to take the opportunity to thank The Gentleman's Gazette for providing me with the knowledge and personal skills from the plethora of videos they have made as through all of them I've been able to land my first and ideal job at 16 years old in a Moss Bros shop local to me. So thank you to Preston, Raphael and Kyle for all your help these past months and overall year and in videos both past and future. Also great video guys and keep up the good work
I was surprised Sherlock Holmes was absent from your recommendations...a tweedy suit ,deerstalker and calabash pipe would be instantly recognizable. As a Baker Street Irregular, this is my go-to outfit. Many thanks for the great videos
Solomon The Tailor The deerstalker didn’t become a staple of the look until the stage/screen adaptations, wherein his country garb became the standard. Really, he only wore the deerstalker in one of the originals. Correct me if i’m wrong or if you only included it for the iconic look.
A bit late on this one, but another idea would be Sweeney Todd. Lots of ideas if you Google shots from stage productions. Pretty much all classic formal clothing, with maybe some suspenders or vest, or ascot or scarf. You might want a little makeup and definitely a razor blade! Also, Raphael acting in the Chaplin character made my day! Lastly, love the old Captain Cold costume, Preston!
Trying to keep it in the real of mens style I'd say: Kingsmen Eggy's orange blazer tux, American Psycho's Patrick Bateman, Addams Family's Gomez, Bonds iconic white tux with red lapel flower, John Wick (though you may need prop guns to sell it), The Blues Brothers, Generic 1940s/50s fedora and trench coat detective (or you could be Rick Blaine), Public Enemies John Dillinger, Scarface, a Peaky Blinders character, The Joker when he wore a black tail coat suit, The Penguin (another Batman villain), Black Mask (yet another Batman villain), Hitman's Agent 47, Ace Attorneys Phoenix Wright (the hair is what sells that look once the suit is on), Max Payne, Nathan Drake (though this look is usually pretty dirty, you could rock a clean fresh on adventure version).
With the exception of the coat, my Eleventh Doctor costume came from pieces at home. Same thing with the Twelfth. While I did Edgar Allan Poe for Comic Con, sadly even an author who did a graphic novel inspired by Poe, he did not recognize the outfit.
A teen or teenager can do the classic Peter Parker / Spiderman the same way you did Clark Kent, but with a sweater vest instead of a jacket, a vintage-looking or actual vintage camera, and of course a Spiderman t-shirt instead of Superman.
I would like to formally thank the Gentleman’s Gazette for everything you have taught me. Granted I might forget most of it, however I’ve been watching for about 2 years now and I’ve learnt a lot.
Agent Smith... my first thought was one of the Agents from Men In Black. A well copied morning dress would also do well for Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin. I've pulled that one off a few times at ComiCons.
I bought a Captains hat, a tee shirt that looks like a captains uniform, dark blue shorts and white canvas Converse. I'm going as captain of the Love Boat and I can wear all the elements of my costume all year long. Cost less than $50 for everything (I already had the shorts).
Great video. Loved Preston as Clark Kent and Raphael as a vampire! May I suggest classic black tie with a martini for James Bond, as well as a grey suit with skinny tie, a cocktail glass, and cigarettes for Don Draper!
Fun fact: Brandon Ralph who played as Clark Kent in Superman Returns won a costume contest dressed like Clark transitioning to Superman. Because of that, he ended up with the role.
Great costume ideas for someone like me who never enjoys dressing up because it means I look silly all evening. I must admit though, when I first clicked I was SURE Gomez Addams would be in here. I've gone as him three years in a row!
thumbs up for clark kent mid-transformation. i would love to see an episode about the men's styles in the comic book Tintin... probably a bit too niche to warrant an episode, though.
there are so many choices: don draper, jay gatsby, the prince of wales, ronald regan, james bond, jimmy kimel, jimmy falon etc, take your pick boys, take your pick
Not something I expected but it is well executed and classy. I am rather impressed with the video itself and the choices are inspired. Happy Halloween to Gentleman's Gazette as well!
The Great Escape. There is probably something to do with that theme. Better with two friends. Classic tweed stuff, not too much stylish, at least a jacket (wool), maybe turtleneck sweater and trench... Mandatory: hat, flat cap, beret. Mandatory plus: some package = anything that you package with Kraft paper and tie with kitchen string.
I'm bitterly disappointed that Raphael didn't take my suggestion of channeling Peter Lorre. He's a natural for Lorre's character from the Maltese Falcon.
The costume with the green jacket looked like Bruce Willis. I don't know which movie, but you could pick one you like o heard there are several of them.
It requires some odd colors but I thrifted a decent Joker costume. Just a 3 piece suit with odd color vest, focused on green and purple with orange/yellow/red accessories, black cap toes. The face paint makes it instantly recognizable.
the agent smith costume could also pass for a men in black costume and I feel like Mr.Bean would be an easy coustume to do if you have a white shirt, black pants and shoes, a red tie and a brown sport coat you'd just need a teddy bear for a prop
Dark suit, black cape, red scarf over the mouth, with a black broad brimmed fedora & you have The Shadow! Who knows what style lurks in closets of men? The Gentleman's Gazette knows!
Dressing up as Eggsy or Harry or maybe even Merlyn from "Kingsman The Scret Service" or its sequel "Kingsman The Golden Circle" would be good costumes in my opinion. Though I love the ideas you guys came up with! Thank you so much!
The costumes are great! You, Preston, take the prize for all of your costumes but Superman fits you best. Indiana Jones second and Sven looks great as Gordon Gekko. Another idea might be Valentino as the Sheik or while dancing the Tango...
Another fitting choice could be any one of the doctor costumes from doctor who as their costumes are often based on classic menswear with a little gimmick.
A gentleman costume that I've considered for wearing to work in the future is the Joker. I've been wanting to buy a purple suit for awhile as it's my favorite color. Afterwards all I'd need is to wear it with a green button up shirt and a purple tie, (bonus points for an orange vest, however that's not an item I'd get much use out of). Even without face paint the look would be instantly recognizable.
I volunteered recently at a museum fundraiser: a comic book convention. I was uncertain about appropriate dress for staff so I just dressed nicely for a museum/mansion setting. I am not hip to comic book characters and I became puzzled at the "Pepper Potts" reference from the guests as to my outfit of a navy and white silk polka dot midi dress from J.Crew, a well-fitted cropped navy blazer cinched at the waist, matching pearl necklace and earrings and 1" red-brown T-strap grained leather pumps; my Make up was very natural except statement red lips and my reddish blonde hair was in a very neat bun at the nape of my neck. Not remembering the exact name of what people were calling me, I was haunted by the alliteration from all the "Ps." I had an encounter with an acquaintance from another museum/mansion I host an event at and he said, "Oh, cool! You are Iron Man's love interest." As soon as I left the event, I jumped on google and wouldn't you know it, my normal clothes are a Pepper Potts costume. LOL. While amusing, it is kind of sad that people no longer take pride in their appearance. I certainly can appreciate the effort of others and I as a woman who enjoys looking at elegant gentlemen enjoyed these classy ideas. My favorite are Indiana Jones (
@@gentlemansgazette They're some very specific characters, as well. Were you introduced to them through Justice League Unlimited or did you stumble upon their comic adventures by chance?
Tony Stark Charcoal Grey suit and a red button down collared shirt with the right sunglasses. The ones I use are a small rectangular shaped pair with blue lenses and blue ear pieces. Not exactly the ones tony uses but the color works very well with the shirt and suit and gives me a close look.
It might have been mentioned already, but dressing up as the Blues Brothers would be quite easy for a gentleman with a black suit, sunglasses & fedora.
I just want to take the opportunity to thank The Gentleman's Gazette for providing me with the knowledge and personal skills from the plethora of videos they have made as through all of them I've been able to land my first and ideal job at 16 years old in a Moss Bros shop local to me. Thanks very much, Lewis, and congratulations!
- Preston
Probably the best RUclips comment ever
Rafael trying to act scary as the vampire was just adorable!
The Charlie Chaplin costumetriggered flashbacks to the TIme Masheen scene in "Idiocracy."
I know right! I think Rafael is pretty cute any way :)
Preston is a natural Clark Kent!
The smooth criminal suit... the peak of outstanding classic style imo
The thumbnail was oddly suggestive of Sven and Preston's true relationship
No.... stopppp
Hahahahaha nice one!
Oh, oh you got us...
😂
Oh no!💀 they are still great
That simple Clark Kent costume was my favorite, made me immediately smile when the vid started.
Agreed. Perfect example of sprezzatura as well. Best costume in the video
I was surprised Sherlock Holmes was absent from your recommendations...a tweedy suit ,deerstalker and calabash pipe would be instantly recognizable. As a Baker Street Irregular,
this is my go-to outfit. Many thanks for the great videos
Sherlock Holmes is actually difficult because most men will not have the proper overcoat with a cape, and just buying it for Halloween is a bit much.
@Solomon The Tailor and how many men have a crock coat today?
Solomon The Tailor The deerstalker didn’t become a staple of the look until the stage/screen adaptations, wherein his country garb became the standard. Really, he only wore the deerstalker in one of the originals. Correct me if i’m wrong or if you only included it for the iconic look.
He wore a Deerstalker on the original book on the cover
Gomez from the Addams Family would be a great costume for a gentleman.
OMG, recreating-crafting that ticker would be fun.
indeed
Doing that as my costume this year! Gave me an excuse to get another double breasted suit!
All you need is pinstripes really, and a good paisley waistcoat
Got it! and being bald I pull off a great Uncle Fester as well!
The Phantom of the Opera costume is my personal favorite. I've worn mine a few times and I wear it proudly with a tailcoat.
This channel is honestly so wholesome
Haha!
I loved the costumes, the acting, and the unique chemistry between Raphael and Preston.
Great job, you guys!
I was thinking of going as Humphrey Bogart's character from Casablanca or Sean Connery's James Bond
Men in Black, or Blues Brothers can easily be done with the classic black suit. My son was Elwood last year. LOL!
That Chaplin was perfect, really. The Indiana Jones was also fantastic
This may be the gentleman's gazette best work yet! Edit: It looked like you all had a fun time making the video.
Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone or Jeremy Brett) or Captain Barbossa for me :)
The Charlie Chaplin acting was hilarious, absolutely gold 😂
The scariest outfit for a gentleman is a full tracksuit.
*incomprehensible slav noises*
Polyester for Tony Soprano; if genuine mafioso, it had better be made of cashmere or silk.
You gave me a good idea. I have a black tracksuit somewhere, a gp-5 gas mask and a ushanka, guess I'll go gopnik this year
Hey Alexa
*Play Hardboss*
Scary, but sometimes necessary.
Going as the joker at a party. Going for the classic/killing joke look. White spats, waistcoat, flower on the suit lapel etc.
What a society we live in man
Trying to keep it in the real of mens style I'd say: Kingsmen Eggy's orange blazer tux, American Psycho's Patrick Bateman, Addams Family's Gomez, Bonds iconic white tux with red lapel flower, John Wick (though you may need prop guns to sell it), The Blues Brothers, Generic 1940s/50s fedora and trench coat detective (or you could be Rick Blaine), Public Enemies John Dillinger, Scarface, a Peaky Blinders character, The Joker when he wore a black tail coat suit, The Penguin (another Batman villain), Black Mask (yet another Batman villain), Hitman's Agent 47, Ace Attorneys Phoenix Wright (the hair is what sells that look once the suit is on), Max Payne, Nathan Drake (though this look is usually pretty dirty, you could rock a clean fresh on adventure version).
The red orange silk tie they have would be perfect for American psycho
I was Inspector Gadget. I wore my Burberry Trench, a Fedora, white button up with a tie, and blue trousers. It worked extremely well.
Al Pacino’s Tony Montana would be a good one for classic men’s Halloween costume.
This relaxed Raphael is so cool. Good video as always.
For the Gordon Gekko look, it would be good to have the undertie slightly longer than the overtie.
I’m dressing as Patrick Bateman from American Psycho! Iconic if you just have a navy suit, red tie, and just buy a clear raincoat online!
The Classic Joker Outfit is also based in Men's Style, it's instantly recognizable but of course you have a lot of makeup
The joker doesn't wear makeup
Seeing Raphael as a vampire is something I never knew I needed but am so grateful to have seen.
I already have the beard and pipe for it: I’m going as Gandalf again.
Classics never die.
I would like to formally thank the Gentleman’s Gazette for everything you have taught me. Granted I might forget most of it, however I’ve been watching for about 2 years now and I’ve learnt a lot.
Rafael totally killed the chaplin look
Nice vídeo!
How about a pilot? With an aviator jacket, aviator sunglasses, jeans, boots and a scarf.
Agent Smith... my first thought was one of the Agents from Men In Black.
A well copied morning dress would also do well for Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin. I've pulled that one off a few times at ComiCons.
Thank you Gentlemen's Gazette. For the first time in my life you made my Halloween enjoyable escapade.
I bought a Captains hat, a tee shirt that looks like a captains uniform, dark blue shorts and white canvas Converse. I'm going as captain of the Love Boat and I can wear all the elements of my costume all year long. Cost less than $50 for everything (I already had the shorts).
Thank you,I wanted to dress as Agent Smith.
Great video. Loved Preston as Clark Kent and Raphael as a vampire! May I suggest classic black tie with a martini for James Bond, as well as a grey suit with skinny tie, a cocktail glass, and cigarettes for Don Draper!
7:15 a German wearing a toothbrush moustache. Now where have I seen that before?
Fun fact: Brandon Ralph who played as Clark Kent in Superman Returns won a costume contest dressed like Clark transitioning to Superman. Because of that, he ended up with the role.
This channel is comedy gold
Great costume ideas for someone like me who never enjoys dressing up because it means I look silly all evening. I must admit though, when I first clicked I was SURE Gomez Addams would be in here. I've gone as him three years in a row!
thumbs up for clark kent mid-transformation. i would love to see an episode about the men's styles in the comic book Tintin... probably a bit too niche to warrant an episode, though.
Yeah, both Tintin and Haddock have pretty recognisable looks and are often well dressed
there are so many choices: don draper, jay gatsby, the prince of wales, ronald regan, james bond, jimmy kimel, jimmy falon etc, take your pick boys, take your pick
JAJAJ , WOW , qué creativos! Me encantó el video
This is a really useful video. I only wish it came out a week ago, for added prep time.
Not something I expected but it is well executed and classy. I am rather impressed with the video itself and the choices are inspired. Happy Halloween to Gentleman's Gazette as well!
The Great Escape.

Mandatory: hat, flat cap, beret. Mandatory plus: some package = anything that you package with Kraft paper and tie with kitchen string.
You gentlemen are the best in the business. You give so many good considerations, and have fun while doing it!
I'm bitterly disappointed that Raphael didn't take my suggestion of channeling Peter Lorre. He's a natural for Lorre's character from the Maltese Falcon.
I really appreciate you guys. Always thank you. I haven't found a single youtube channel except here that doesn't always promote sponsored products.
The costume with the green jacket looked like Bruce Willis. I don't know which movie, but you could pick one you like o heard there are several of them.
2:04 Thank you for correctly saying Frankenstein’s Monster, instead of just Frankenstein!!
It requires some odd colors but I thrifted a decent Joker costume. Just a 3 piece suit with odd color vest, focused on green and purple with orange/yellow/red accessories, black cap toes. The face paint makes it instantly recognizable.

I think a traditional werewolf or Mr. Hyde would look good with a business suit.
What's wrong with my moustache?
The last time I watched a video of a German man with that mustache I got detention.
Another fitting choice could be any one of the doctor costumes from doctor who as their costumes are often based on classic menswear with a little gimmick.
That dracula „costume” is more expensive than any car I can afford XD high quality cosplay I guess haha
Another easy one (for kids, anyway) is Pugsley Addams. Black shorts, socks and shoes, and a black and white striped shirt.
That captain cold costume is amazing.
I could be also El Zorro
You make a very convincing Agent Smith!
Raphael should dress as Tuxedo Mask using that white tie outfit!
A 007 costume would also work pretty well and fit the criteria mentioned if it didn’t require a $300,000 Aston Martin
Gomez Addams because that is a true gentleman there!
Classic Captain Cold AND the Crimson Avenger??? Preston, your taste in comic aesthetics is impeccable.
I'm just glad that somebody recognized both costumes. Don't forget Spy Smasher! ;)
- Preston
@@gentlemansgazette They're some very specific characters, as well. Were you introduced to them through Justice League Unlimited or did you stumble upon their comic adventures by chance?
@@MaxMercuryAnonymous A mix of both, I'd say. I collect pre-modern age comics, and I've loved the DCAU for years!

Well done on picking up on the undone cuffs of agent Smith :-)
Herr Schneider makes a great Charlie Chaplin!!❤️
I often default to my favorite superhero, The Spirit. Blue suit, red tie and fedora. Or black dress pants, black shirt, red tie and converse sneakers.
Right around the corner of a party im going to this thursday. Thanks :3
I'm going as joker. Cant wait!
Tony Stark
Charcoal Grey suit and a red button down collared shirt with the right sunglasses. The ones I use are a small rectangular shaped pair with blue lenses and blue ear pieces. Not exactly the ones tony uses but the color works very well with the shirt and suit and gives me a close look.
Dr No.
Light grey suit, white shoes, black latex gloves. Collar of the suit: better Mao (kinda). Works probably best if you are Asian type.
That's a great Captain Cold costume.
You sir, are the best. I love the idea of this video!
Thank you Preston 👍🏽. How about the Green Hornet / Kato?
You can also wear a wide brim fedora for the phantom.
It might have been mentioned already, but dressing up as the Blues Brothers would be quite easy for a gentleman with a black suit, sunglasses & fedora.
Scarface would be another good one, or anyone from Reservoir Dogs.
Captain Cold for Halloween. Nice.
Edgy vampire Raphael will stay on the forefront of my mind for years to come.
I was thinking about going as Peter Cushing's Victor Von Frankenstein.
Fantastic! Great ideas. So much fun. Thanks!
I miss halloween! In Europe is not a thing. You both look great in the costumes!
What a nice surprise. I'll definitely do the Phantom of the Opera in the future when I get myself a white tie ensemble :)
A green mesenger bag is even better for Indy
KNEW IT, CLARK KENT
And that is what I love in Your channel! Thank You!
This Halloween i used a Bela Lugosi's inspired Drácula costume :)
Here I am watching this, assembling a Fred Astaire, Top Hat ensemble. Happy Halloween!
Raphael is sporting a 5 o'clock shadow as well. lol Thanks again for a great video.
Broooooooooo that's the coolest lamp
Could you so an episode on what to wear to exercise ?
