thanks so much for this!! i know its an older video but we are getting stressed with our pug puppy and this really helped us to see where we are going wrong.
The one thing I've noticed when dealing with my sister's pug, is that when it comes to training or discipline, it has to be consistent with every person the pug interacts with. There can't be any deviation from the rules because they tend to choose the rules that give them more freedom. So, everyone has to be in agreement that the rules will be applied the same by everyone.
I'm doing research before I get my puggie in January and it seems the only constant advice is that pugs love food and seem to take it personally when you're mad at them! I think our biggest issue will be sorting out a schedule since I work 3 12 hour night shifts a week and my bf works the standard 9-5. We do have a large laundry/storage room that has all laminate flooring so we were thinking about just getting a baby-gate or something and keeping him in there at night rather than a crate. We do have a cat too, so that will be an adventure!
My pug baby has been successfully using puppy pads, she’ll instantly go pee on it without being shown and will sometimes poo on the pad but if there’s a rug she’ll do it there. Thanks for the tips, I’m going to try to get her eventually use to going outside completely
Thanks for a wonderful Pug Vlog. Pablo is adorable. This can work with a silent Pug that just looks at the door when it wants to go out - try hanging a strand of doggie door bells from the doorknob. Every time you go outside with the puppy you tap the bells with your foot (or whichever body part that works) before you open the door. Hopefully, sooner or later puppy will put it together and tap the bells to go outside.
Thats a great idea! Pablo has learnt overtime to scratch at the door to get our attention, but this would of been great for when he was still learning!
I have a 10 week old pup. I tried to punish her by booping her nose, she just tried to bite me every time 😂 I tried giving her a tap on the bum, she again tried to bite me every time 😂 I’m now using a spray from a water bottle and it works. But now I’m thinking again because I don’t want her to be afraid of water.
Looking to get a pug in the next year. I'm researching and this is great, practical advice. Of course, Pablo is damn cute too. "He didn't choose the pug life, the pug life chose him!"
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else is searching for how is the best way to train a puppy try Ichordo Simple Puppy Fixer ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my m8 got amazing success with it.
the isolation works for me really well especially when our younger dog decided it was a good idea to chew the table leg :) we use the method of tapping their nose a lot, they have long snouts so it works really well for us ;)
Yeah tapping the nose does work really well but with a pug because it's flat, if you were to tap it you're pushing it back into his face which can damage their airways! So have to stick to isolation :)
Can i use time out for punishment bu time out i mean being put in the properly sized crate pleas someone who had experienced with pugs let me know i wanna know if their ok to train with dogs like basic training like washroom and sit drop follow and few other things
Training our Pug we hung a bell on our patio door which we could hear from our family room and kitchen. Every time we took him out t o do his business, we would have him set by the door and take his pa
‘Tapping their noses’ is NOT a way to train any dog! And actually quite cruel. They have exceptionally sensitive noses and it hurts them. As a brachycephalic breed, I think this “method” of training for pugs is particularly bad. But in all cases, if you accidentally hit harder than you intended, you could cause serious harm. With certain temperaments, tapping or any physical punishments could increase aggression and bring about MORE problems in your dog. For god’s sake, it’s not that hard to use positive reinforcement and leave out these antiquated ideas of punishing your pet! There are plenty of good, well respected books and internet sources out there for training without punishment.
And what about if he a little bit growl at me when things are not as he wants to. Its 4 months pug puppy, he is obedient, he know some tricks already but sometimes he do this. Another time he follows me around the house and lay under my legs and everything is fine. I dont know what to do with it.
With regards to toilet training, did you get up with pablo during the night to let him out? I am wondering what to do with my puppy pug. During the day there are no pads and I take her out. But at night she is in a pen where there are pads.
Don't. The crate is where a dog is supposed to sleep and relax and they don't really like to do their potty in the place they stay. I recommend outdoors with grass or pee pads if you live in an apartment or a small place. Dogs will know the place where they potty sooner or later as they get to know the floor texture on where they potty.

That is very true! we make sure everyone that looks after Pablo follows are method so he doesn't get confused or start to go against us :)
Looking on Amazon, i see there are potty trays for dogs that have a plastic grate that covers the puppy pad. That way your dog can't chew it.

Put something in it too give it a smell. Maybe mint or something so she will connect the smell to the bad behavior
The female pugs are feisty. I've had 2 female pugs. Right now I have a 7 week old pug female and she bites too lol.

Love pugs!! How would you recommend training our pug to not run out the front door whenever it is opened and how to train her to not jump on visitors?

How long do you typically isolate for? Do you just ignore the whining while he's isolated?

Hi, if you put him in isolation, how long would you wait before you took him out? X

He isn't saying HULK SMASH the dog in the face. It's more of an attention grabber to redirect
My pug is hard headed
Noel Otero lol same
I got my baby pug 3 days now and he doesn't bite our nipe any more
What did u do
Thank you 😁

Pablo used to sleep right through the night not waking up so we never had any issues, just let him out as soon as we woke up
I am getting a 10 week old pug
