    I’ve been BINGE watching your videos for 6 months lol! My training for encore is Feb 6th and I’m excited but nervous about the tests/exams/drills. I don’t test well because I always over think my answers and end up changing the right answers to the wrong- will all the exams be multiple choice? Also what is the dress code?Thank you in advance!

    • @tguderyan33
      @tguderyan33  Год назад

      First off congratulations on making it to training!! Dress code is business casual. And the tests are multiple choice. I always went through and answered what I knew for sure and then went back and answered the ones I wasn't 100% sure of by process of elimination. Once all are answered go back and re read every single question and double check your exam. Another thing is once your done your exam you get to go out in the hallway just my own personal question don't go over answers with your classmates in the hallway it will only make you more stressed to hear questions you got wrong. I normally just went for a walk to calm my nerves

      @@tguderyan33 what does this mean “junior ppl get two blocks of reserve” apparently this changed in September.

    • @tguderyan33
      @tguderyan33  Год назад

      @Ren ya it did, it means that if your new you get 2 blocks (5 days each block) where you are essentially on call. You have to be at the airport within 2hrs if you get a call that they are taking you off reserve and you will work. Senority bidding is also in place so people who have worked there the longest get what they asked for more than someone who is new.

  • @darrylhickie28
    @darrylhickie28 Год назад

    Just wondering about scheduling…you say you can bud on pairings, but is there a guaranteed amount of hours you get scheduled for? Reserve would be above and beyond as I understand it

    • @tguderyan33
      @tguderyan33  Год назад

      Hey Darryl! Ya you get 24 or 25 bids so you can bid how long you want your pairings to be, how many days off between, where you want your layovers, if you want deadheads, what specific days you want off, no reserve ect.
      They have seniority bidding so the change you get things you want is highly unlikely. Until you become more senior then you get what you want. The hours very big time. I always had 4 day pairings with 24-48hrs off before I went on another 4 day pairing. But vaccine passports had just ended and everyone was traveling the airlines were super busy.
      I wish I has a better answer for you but you only get paid to fly so Vancouver to Victoria is a 14min flight so you get paid for 14 mins for example vs flying for longer travel. I made peanuts as a flight attendant but I still loved it as I love travel, taking care of people and the flight benefits you get are AMAZING!!

Any tips? Also did you get tested on first aid ?

      Hey!! I'm here to tell you.. don't give up on it! You can do it, you can do hard things, especially if it's your dream. It was a dream of mine as well & it is the coolest job ever.
      You will be tested on first aid, but they have an entire day learning it, and then you take "fake tests" as many times as you want online through westjet so you feel very prepared.
      In glass you will go through the FAM (flight attendant manual) its alot of reading and quite boring but listening to the talking points of the instructors, the talking points will for sure be on your exams. There are no gotcha questions on the exams. They are built to see if you have general knowledge, so as long as you're listening in class and studying, you will do great.
      You might find the rest of my videos helpful. They are long winded but have some good info. Keep me posted!
      Ps. I have people I met through RUclips chatting and then Facebook, and they are pretty much all flight attendant now🥰

      For training they do not fly you out or pay for accommodations. Unless they need to take you to another training facility other then the base your hired for.
      For example I was hired for calgary (I live in Saskatchewan) I had to drive/fly myself and find my own accommodations. But if they needed me to go to a different base other then calgary (the one I was hired for) then they would pay for my flight and hotel. Let me know if this makes sense lol

      Good question. If you are training in Calgary but your base is somewhere else, they will pay for your accommodations, which I've seen sharing a hotel. But if your training in Calgary and your base is Calgary, then you must find and pay for your own accommodation.
      I live in Lloydminster SK, but my base was Calgary AB, and my training was Calgary AB, so I had to find my own and pay for my own. Let's say they have to train me at a different base than I was hired for, like Toronto, then they would pay for my accommodation.

      @tguderyan33  Год назад

      @theFitty no, not at all. Safety above all. Especially because your in the air sometimes you have to make life saving decisions in a moments notice so you can't be tired or mentally unable to. For example my first day on the job something happened on my flight that was somewhat "traumatic" that we had to write an HR Report. Because it was my first day they wouldn't let me continue flying and made me stay in Comox for 24hrs before I could continue working. They felt as if I might be in shock and had lots of adrenaline running even tho I said I was ok to fly they said no. The next day a Westjet employee called me to assess me and see if I was fit to fly and they determined I was ok as i took the 24hrs to process what happened on that flight.
