I think that the pay could be the reason that higher educated and quality pretty boys and girls are simply not applying. The airlines however, know full well that the demand to become a flight attendant is so high that they can still get thousands of applicants for a few advertised flight attendant jobs . The airlines have no incentive to pay more when they can so readily and easily get so many applicants desperate to become flight attendants!! But, you are, essentially, paid for those other hours as your hourly pay reflects the "down" time. Normally, a flight attendant wouldn't make $40 or $50 or $60 "real" dollars per hour - no offense meant here. The job isn't worth that hourly rate. So, the airlines are "baking" in the "down" time into the higher hourly rate. They factor that into your pay. The mainlines start out about $30 an hour. You can pick up on your days off. Very easy to make at least $3000-$4000 a month.
@@Remmysageare they going to ask what wage I’m looking to make during the interview? I’ve had jobs where I had to negotiate. Or is it basically take what we offer or not?
Yes! Per diem is from start to finish of the entire trip. So basically you get it during duty time & layover. We can layovers “on duty layover” because though you are not technically working on the plane or at the airport you are still laying over because it is part of your work schedule :)
OK soooo maybe a stupid question.. However if i work 15 days straight .... could i basically work 15 days straight then have 15 days off?? All in a row???
Yes and no! You technically can’t work more than 7 days in a row. You’d have to have 24 hours off in between so if you can make that happen with layovers or time between trips then you definitely can!
How much does a new flight attendant make??? Well,I was mainline fa, ran up 2 cc to pay bills and finally went bankrupt. But I was still a fa!! 😂😂😂😂😂 How little do majority of fa's make??not much.seniors with years with airline make big bucks! Seniors don't retire.they only have to work 40 hrs a month. But those fa's are at top of pay range.
When you say “drop trips” does that mean one can just decide not to work those trips or does someone else have to pick up those trips you don’t want to work ?
It probably depends on the airline but at mine the most likely way to drop a trip is by posting it on a trade board far in advance and hoping another flight attendant picks it up. You have the option to put the trip into the company trading system but its not super common for trips to be successfully dropped. At some airlines (even though its against the rules) flight attendants offer money for people to take their trips in desperate last minute situations or on holidays.
Yes and yes. You can drop your trip, or you can give it to someone else. You choose what days you want to work. But this, of course, is true only once you have a line. Most airlines (not delta) will put you on reserve for a bit. As you accumulate seniority and they add more lines, you’ll eventually get what we call a line, which is basically a set schedule. You’ll know ahead of time what trips you’ll be working, and you will have the ability to drop or pick up as she was saying.
Hey. Did you have to leave your home and get relocated in a different state? I’ve always wanted to become a FA but this is one of the things that’s holding me back. Can I politely say no (or I would definitely consider it depending on the circumstances) to interviewer if I get asked if I’m willing to be relocated and still get the job? Is that possible?
twanna: HELL NO !!! there is no weight requirement like there used to be in the 80s and 90s .... you are going to see many water buffaloes up in the air serving you drinks!! The quality of flight attendants has steadily been going down ...the appearance is NOTHING like it used to be!!
Karie: Just do the math and figure it out as to how much you will make as a flight attendant. Every airline has a different pay scale. 75 hours multiply it with what the starting pay is going to be.
Per diem refers to additional money you get on top of your hour that is given for your being “away from base” aka our and flying a trip from when you sign in to when you sign out at the end of the trip

@@dreamingbig98 Hi 👋! My first training day is January 16th. So from October 25, approximately 3 months. Also, there are groups on Facebook you can join to connect with others to get valuable info and stay in the loop. Hope that helps.
How can you live on 80 hours per month?
They factor that into your pay. The mainlines start out about $30 an hour. You can pick up on your days off. Very easy to make at least $3000-$4000 a month.
@@Remmysageare they going to ask what wage I’m looking to make during the interview? I’ve had jobs where I had to negotiate. Or is it basically take what we offer or not?
So about $70K a year sound about right or more?
i wouldn’t say that much based on the math i did but i could be wrong
I get you could make that if you worked yourself to death. Starting out I’d say more like $30-$60
Do you get per diem during your duty time?
You’d have to have 24 hours off in between so if you can make that happen with layovers or time between trips then you definitely can!
cool that makes sense
You can give your trip away by posting on the trade board. It’s easy to drop trips because so many people want to make more money.
Can you choose what days you get off?
Yes to some degree. Longer you are with the company the easier it can be to get days off you want!
@@TheDailyDeparture thanks for clearing that up! I enjoy your videos so much ❤️
Hello!! My question is, can you choose the airport where you are going to be based?
Yes and no. I have a video explaining that in my playlist!
@@TheDailyDeparture thanks a lot!!!
What airline do you work for ?
I would say not enough money.
Help I want to become a flight attendant
New subbie here! 😉
Your video is great! I will make my decision one just one thing:
Are you a flight attendant now??? If yes, I will join, if no, you answer my question.
Heyy I’m a regional FA for, and I just got a interview with mainline, what’s the starting pay for American?
They’re won’t hire you if you’re not willing to re-locate.
Is there a weight requirement?
twanna: HELL NO !!! there is no weight requirement like there used to be in the 80s and 90s .... you are going to see many water buffaloes up in the air serving you drinks!! The quality of flight attendants has steadily been going down ...the appearance is NOTHING like it used to be!!
How long after training do you usually start working?
A week
The next. Once you are qualified, you can start right away.
Yeah….I don’t understand but 😭🤚🏾
Hi! I'm also planning to be a flight Attendant. But how much did you paid to be a flight Attendant?
Karie: Just do the math and figure it out as to how much you will make as a flight attendant. Every airline has a different pay scale. 75 hours multiply it with what the starting pay is going to be.
I want to be a flight attendant. How do i start?
not right now you don't
@@TimConnor there are actually a lot of airlines that have Started hiring recently
@@lejlaland2020 that read written 6 months ago say that time there read no way anyone was hiring, I know I work for one
Is the pay bi-weekly?
United is $140/per diem what does that mean?
Per diem refers to additional money you get on top of your hour that is given for your being “away from base” aka our and flying a trip from when you sign in to when you sign out at the end of the trip
You’re talking about $140 per week during training. Different per diem.
Whoa, math.
You are not helpful for the entire video you said hours you failed to say the amount you get...
You can google what airline you are wanting To know. Every airline pays different.
Hey, Once the hard working airline employees were called, 'air hosts and hostesses', then air stewardship and stewardesses, then flight attendants, and every other good title in between.
I think you guys deserve a new enhanced title :
'Cruise Deputies'.
I think it'd be more up to date.
it’s a flight, not a cruise.
group captain tolk, you are full of it
@@ryan-1313 ---most of the airspeed during flight is 'crusing speed' anyhow, and at cruising altitudes, ain't it? ---so why not just call them 'Cruise deputies...they'd like it more. Everything is getting 'hip'per these days.
@@davidmoser3535 ---there's nothing wrong with hip titles, most of the airspeed during flight is 'crusing speed' anyhow, and at cruising altitudes, ---so why not just call them 'Cruise deputies, ---they'd like It more, everything is getting 'hip'per these days.
Halfway through still no dollar amount
Because she's being professional. Shes not going to come out and say "I make $19.50 per hour" it's her personal, financial business. She told you the typical hourly wage is between $16-$30 an hour.
@@TD-izAbxy thank you
Plus depending on the airline it’s very different. Use her math and go google the pay of your airline you’re looking at!
Going through the interview process right now. I'm a recently divorced dad of two and will be doing hybrid work model to make the financials work with Insurance + Flight Attendant. Do you know of anyone who is doing the same in the industry to make it work balancing half their time with family, a second job, and the second half with being a flight attendant?
Absolutely there are people who really do the most outside of their life as a flight attendant. I think it is doable but a good support system is so important and just be careful not to burn out
Y'all don't get paid for delays D does 😲
So beautiful. Kisses from Brasil.
Are you just "Flight Attendant" or do you have an actual name? Just a first name is fine. Good Vide!!! A lot learned... =)
Hi beautiful!!
Geez! Get to the point already! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I'll bet if someone tied your hands down, you wouldn't be able to talk.
