Fun historical fact, one of the main reasons the PLA couldn’t pursue the ROC during their retreat to Taiwan was because the ROC retained greater control over the Chinese Navy. Following the ROC’s retreat, the PLA in China didn’t have a functioning navy, as the ROC had essentially “stolen” it.
Thanks that's very important information that got left out. I was wondering exactly that so I came to the comments thankfully it was the 1st comment I read. K
There was also the Battle of Hainan. In addition to retreating to Taiwan, about 200,000 RoC troops retreated to the Island of Hainan, which is just East of Vietnam. In 1950, the Communist regime invaded that island, using more than 300 junks to move troops across the strait. Although the RoC ships and aircraft inflicted about 4,000 casualties on the communist troops, as the strait was much more narrower than the one between Taiwan and the mainland, they could not stop the majority of the troops getting ashore. The RoC troops had to evacuate or surrender. While this was successful, Mao and his Generals realized that the wider strait and the likelihood of intervention by the US Navy meant that using an extemporized fleet of junks would probably fail to invade Taiwan.

Australia's cancelled submarine order with France wasn't for nuclear submarines... It was for diesel electric. Going with AUKUS meant they'd gain nuclear submarine capability
It was much more about security cooperation. France is one of the few countries that possesses and produces nuclear submarines, just like the US and the UK, but Australia went with the AUKUS agreement since it's much more important for Australian security if tensions with China rise.
Plus the order with France was hardly going smoothly, it kept hitting snags/delays. With costs on path to be more than double the initial bid, might have been closer to three times the bid already but it has been a while since I looked into it.

US military terminology: "deployed" implies impermanent presence, which could be work trips and so on. I think the word you are looking for as far as US presence in SK and Japan is "stationed", which is a large majority of those numbers you mention. These are troops, and their families, who have picked up their belongings and moved there on a "permanent" basis, with the expectation to move out after 2-6 years. Meanwhile we have troops "deployed" in eastern Europe, as we have not STATIONED them as in moved all their belongings, but rather packed up a bag and flown them there for a few weeks or months.
Seeing as he also says stationed at times id say he meant what he said. Especially since the people who are in those areas aren't on American soil. So its considered being deployed.

A good report - - -In fact, as a former strategic planning analyst, I find it fascinating that our media technology and information access has progressed to the point of providing an hour-long detailed accounting of the US forces, deployment, capabilities, locations, weapon systems and likely combat tactics in such detail prior to a possible engagement with our potential future enemy. In WWI and even in the Cold War, people were shot or imprisoned for revealing such information at this level of detail. It can be argued that this is simply an elaborate warning sign in the best traditions of the MAD Doctrine but it might be equally valid for China (PRC) to interpret all this as details of the US offensive capabilities for a first-strike invasion of PRC. This latter interpretation is one that Russia has believed for most of the last 75 years.
I agree too. People that put this stuff out, sound the alarm for what we could possibly do. Whoever put this on here, way to go buddy. Think China cared more for this than the intended audience.

@RealLiftLore FYI, Small mistake at 30:28, you state “Prior Nuclear Submarine deal they had made with France” in reference to the canceled Australian deal to purchase French submarines. The Australian submarine deal with France was for conventional Diesel Submarines, not nuclear powered submarines.
Super important point, it was the lack of nuclear power that made the French deal worthless for the Aussie fleet needs, which were essentially generated by Chinese posturing and aggression, and caused them to reconsider, as well as the fact that the US and UK chose to release very important sub tech to the Aussies in an effort to button up the pacific. This would have never happened without the Chinese belligerence of the last decade, but here we are.
This video is highly detailed with regards to the multi-pronged defense/deterrence strategy currently being implemented by the United States in the West Pacific. What isn't mentioned by RLL, but is also very important, is the increased military cooperation between the US and a few other countries of strategic significance, specifically India, Bangladesh, and Vietnam. That's in addition to Thailand, another longtime American ally that directly borders Myanmar and has coastlines on both the Pacific and Indian Oceans. If the Tatmadaw remains in control of Myanmar and helps China to circumvent their Achilles heel in the Malacca Strait, the US _could_ use its relations with Bangladesh, Thailand, and potentially India to navally blockade Burmese ports in the Bengal Bay, thereby eliminating a major alternate route for Chinese energy imports.

Just a footnote: B-52s are designed to carry nuclear bombs, but they also are very good at laying sea mines. The US has upgraded its nautical mines, and a B-52 unit did a concept test off Hawaii earlier this year. Look where RAAF Tindal is, and at the sea lanes where the Chinese move their oil supplies. The B-52s can do a lot of damage without escalating to a nuclear exchange.
The Chinese can also do a lot of damage to the B52s. America's aircraft carriers (today's dinosaurs) are sitting ducks for China's DF carrier killer hypersonic missiles. Don't think that the US military is invincible. Just remember the Titanic. And the US just lost the Afghanistan war and will soon lose the Ukraine war as was widely reported. The US fled Vietnam without winning the war in 1975. It was forced to a truce in the Korean war after the Chinese army pushed the US military out of North Korea. Don't think that the US military is superior - not at all. The US is good at talking big and bullying other countries.
The sea lanes are also use by Japan & Korea, and also commercial ships that move goods to South East Asia and beyond. Anyway, for oil, could easily come from Central Asia & Russia, via land & deserts right? BTW, these days nuclear bombs are carried by intercontinental ballistic missile and supersonic missiles, not planes.

Smaller boats are harder to hit. And having more of them means you have more of a chance to get them to shore. Their navy isn't intended to dominate the seas, but to ferry troops to their target.
@@henrystokes1987not sure anything will be hard to hit with a modern carrier fleet. Or modern targeting in general. Their boats are small, but they're not SMALL. Yellow Sea is to be fiercley contested. The USAF Korea's main bases are in Osan and Gunsan. Both are cities on the seaside of the Yellow sea. The world largest US army base (Camp Humphrey in Pyeongtaek) is also stationed in a seaside city of the Yellow sea. These bases are within 600 km from Qingdao, where the Northen Theater Naval Command of the PLAN is stationed. And theses cities are 1,000 km from Beijing. The 1,000 km radius from South Korea covers all the coastal area from Fujian(Fuzhou) to Liaoning (Dalian). Three of four municipal cities: Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai. More than 60% of total GDP and 50% of population. Most of the oil/natural gas termial ports. China can destroy South Korea but South Korea(together with the US) can destroy the 'main part' of China. About more than 3,000 cruise missiles (with 1,500 km range, equivalent to the latest Tomahawk Block 5) and non-nuke ballistic missiles(al least 1,500 km range). Some of the ballstic can reach 3,000~5,000 kilometers when they 'shrink' the warhead from 5(or 9) tons to 2 ~ 3 tons.(With regard to the range number, South Korea assumes very haeavy warheads are used, in order not to challenge China openly. Some are 9 ton warhead missiles which can destroy bunkers 300 meters deep. These missiles are indigenous and not under the US control (since they do not use the mil. GPS of the US, which is controlled by the US on day-to-day base) The exact number is not known. In short, this is a most dangerous part of the whole globe. Taiwan is NOT alone. But Taiwan needs to do one thing. It has to arm itself to the teeth. It has to hone its resolve and will. South Korea is heavily infilterated and polluted but still it has the fundamental intact. China's biggest problem is the US' biggest strength... Allies. How simple would this be if China came to an amicable solution to a "non allied" nation (some years ago) like Phillipines around the Spratly Islands and offering some of the many useful assets that being China's ally would have in terms of exports among other things. I know I'm vastly simplifying the geo-politics of this, but as far as my knowledge goes, China didn't even attempt to ally any of the nations that 'surrounds' it, as it has conflict with pretty much very single one of them, specially South Korea, Japan and the Philippines. China is only confined due to not having amicable relations to any of them, now they have to circumvent this either via Pakistan and developing that route to not depend on the Malaca strait or forcing countries like Indonesia to join them, which of course they wouldn't like. Anyways, nice watch as always! Edit: He mentioned Pakistan at the end and I didn't know, this guy doesn't miss, I didn't have to mention it hahah
What you said is of no use. Japan and South Korea do not have national sovereignty, they are colonies of the United States. The Philippines and Taiwan are both influenced by the United States economically and politically. The new Vice President of Taiwan is sent by the United States to monitor the President of Taiwan. If China and the United States have good relations, these countries will have better relations with China. Don't underestimate the influence of the United States, the US dollar is the world currency
If we form an alliance, it means that we will be affected by our allies, which means that we will be involved in more wars. We don't like war, so we choose cooperation rather than alliance.
"I know I'm vastly simplifying the geo-politics of this", your right. The "Nine-Dash Line" which bring the problems between China and Philippines was draw out by ROC on a US military ship in 1940s(ROC was the best ally of US back then). Interesting ha? Why would China attack Australia in the first place? Australia is the only few countries that didn't suffers the 2008 financial crisis. Australia is raking in rev hand over fist trading with China. @@F00Lsmack
Yeah, IIRC the French deal wasn't for nuclear powered submarines. If Australia was going to get a contract that involved transfer of nuclear propulsion, there's only 2 countries to deal with... The US and Great Britain. No one else is even close to the same level although some are claiming that China might be only about 5 years behind (I seriously doubt that. China only has some new submarines with surprising technologies and zero surface ships). For a number of reasons there's no substitution for nuclear propulsion when it comes to submarines and exceeding large ships like aircraft carriers so although the French understandably harbor bad feelings about the lost economic opportunity, Australia made the only right decision for military reasons. This is one of several Biden administration deals that have significantly strengthened future prospects of allies and potential allies (India is another notable example). Although the partner countries won't see benefits until at least a couple decades in the future, this kind of technology transfer is incredibly momentous altering the path for the future in unexpected and unpredictable ways..
And it still wouldn't stand a chance against BRICS and if they did go to war iit would quickly become a ww3 and North Korea along with other countries would join BRICS.
China isn't the only one relying on authoritarian foreign governments, as you pointed out with Myanmar. The U.S. and E.U. rely on autocrats in the Middle East and North Africa for energy imports, now at much greater scale than China since the Russians have been forced to finally make the painful pivot to becoming a solely Asian, rather than Eurasian, power. With the ongoing Israel-Palestine crisis, the populations in those muslim-pluarility countries are increasingly piqued at the West and their own docile leaderships. Who's to say that there isn't an embargo on Western energy in the near future? Or, that when the time comes, especially with China and Russia strategically taking the Palestinian's side, the source of the energy the U.S. hopes to blockade won't themselves embargo the West. Things are coming to a head in the region, especially as China's ally, Iran, resurges to its preeminent role. You also didn't touch on the U.S. greatest vulnerability in all this. The decision to seize Russia's $300 billion dollar foreign reserve sounded the alarm in the global south (China and India included) that Washington, not them, owns the dollars they've earned over the years. This was a strategic mistake by the U.S. because much of that impressive military that they'll need to "contain" China is a direct result of being able to print dollars out of thin air (well, debt at extremely low interest rates until the recent inflation crisis) to pay other countries for materials and resources (and, lol, interest). As de-dollarization continues to pick up steam going forward and countries become increasingly reluctant to buy U.S. debt at laughably low interest rates, that large U.S. military spending (most of which is maintenance cost) will gradually become a massive liability. Moreover, if the U.S. gets stuck with paying 5% interest on over $33 trillion dollars of national debt, the game is already lost. China has time, and the tacit support of the majority of the world, on its side in this regard. It only needs to keep growing its economy at above 5% rate per year for a little longer, which shouldn't be tough as they're swimming in cheap and secure Russian energy, agricultural produce, and metals and minerals (at Germany and the E.U.'s expense) at the moment. The bottomline, at least to me, is that enough time has passed between the end of WW2 and now that the countries truly responsible for winning that war (Russia with 26 million dead to crush Germany, and China with 14 million dead to crush Japan) have regained enough of their footing. In the coming decades America (which entered WW2 in the 11th hour and only lost 400 thousand troops and hardly any civilians and infrastructure) will slowly get pushed back to its own hemisphere and finally its own continent, as the old Great Powers (including India and Iran) fully come back on line. No amount of Island Chains, AUKUS, NATO expansion, or Israel-U.S.-Saudi treaties will stop the tyranny of geography and demographics.

The title of this video is hyperbole. China has real economic problems mounting at the moment and a war would be costly. China has also seen how the West has mobilized against Russia and had a bit of a reality check. The US has always tried to prevent conflict by being more strong than everyone else. It doesn't mean that they're actually planning on war but rather being ultra prepared and totally dominant as a means to prevent the war
With all of the other provisions in the Aukus deal, that price tag is very flexible. Australia is going to come out way stronger, without the hit to their pocket book that it seems. Allowing the US to keep high value assets in Australia, is valuable enough to warrent a nice discount.

Nationalist citizens of these countries see it as an occupation.
In the navy, we refer to our ships stationed in Japan as “FDNF-J” which means Forward-Deployed Naval Forces, Japan. They’re near interchangeable.

Okinawa, South Korea, Italy, etc is a duty station. The HQ of the MEF or equivalent force is there. You're in a training cycle, not a deployment cycle. It doesn't matter if you're "not on American soil."
A deployment is to like Afghanistan or Kosovo. You are conducting forward operations there. Not just training. You are in harm's way in a totally different posture.

Summary with Time Stamps
00:00 🇺🇸🇹🇼 The United States and Taiwan have a complex history, with Taiwan officially known as the Republic of China (ROC), established in 1912.
01:35 🤝 The US supported the ROC and maintained military aid, troops, and nuclear weapons in Taiwan during the Cold War to deter potential Chinese Communist aggression.
04:20 🇨🇳🇺🇸 In 1979, the US shifted its recognition to the People's Republic of China (PRC), ending official diplomatic relations with the ROC, but continued unofficial ties.
07:59 💰 The PRC's military budget has grown significantly since the 2000s, making it a formidable military power, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
09:22 🥶 A new Cold War is emerging, with both the US and China preparing for a potential conflict over Taiwan's sovereignty and the future of China.
16:07 🇯🇵 Japan is remilitarizing its southern Ryukyu Islands, increasing its defense capabilities, and potentially becoming involved in any conflict over Taiwan.
19:23 🇵🇭 The Philippines has allowed the return of US military presence, establishing joint military bases to counteract China's maritime expansion in the South China Sea.
22:25 🌊 The US Navy may return to Subic Bay, which could serve as a strategic location for American nuclear submarines near Taiwan.
23:37 🚀 American High Mars rocket artillery systems on Luzon could block the Bashi Channel, hindering PLA naval advance and protecting Taiwan's eastern coast.
25:13 🏝 The US is employing a strategy involving the "first island chain" to contain China's movement, especially around Taiwan, with bases in South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and Singapore.
29:23 ⚓ The AUKUS pact involves the US and UK sharing nuclear submarine technology with Australia, establishing a major nuclear submarine base in Perth, Australia.
33:05 ☢ The US counters China's A2AD capabilities by relying on unsinkable islands and nuclear-powered submarines rather than vulnerable aircraft carriers.
35:41 💥 The prospect of nuclear war looms in the background, with both the US and China possessing significant nuclear arsenals.
39:46 🇹🇼 China may consider various actions, including political meddling, seizing Kinmen, imposing a limited blockade, or a full-scale invasion to bring Taiwan under its control.
43:43 🌊 A full-scale invasion of Taiwan by China would be an immense military undertaking and could trigger a conflict with the US.

Yeah, we got them by more than 2,000,000 tons with them at 2,200,000~ and the US Navy at 4,600,000~ and this does not include the 2 currently being constructed new aircraft carriers, bringing our carrier fleet to the same position it was before, the largest on the planet.

I really hope Taiwan has its spirit and will..not polluted too much.

All vs China 😂😂😂

There is one system the US has that you aren't considering when talking about Chinese missile capability. The Aegis system is essentially the skynet of aerial defence. One system is pretty good all on its own, but the fact that each asset with a radar and antenna that can feed info into the system expands its abilities. Each system can also talk to each system to expand its capabilities even further exponentially .
The US has no defense against China's (and Russia's) hypersonic missiles capable of sinking American aircraft carriers (today's dinosaurs).
Aegis system still uses PESA radar and mechanical illumination, it's outdated

Since when are Russia, China and the USA military allies in modern day?
