Thank you so much Candy for sharing your recipe with me your cake looks delicious and yummy Im really going to try my hands making this cake thanks for sharing 👍 ❤
Of course it's a winner Cuz. We watch all your videos on TV and of course I never remember to comment. The sponge cake video was also a winner. We could tell how moist it was when it was presented. Thanks Cuz, we love you, always.
I love...... Guyanese black cake! 😋I'm always getting it from my family and friends but I will try to bake it myself. My only concern is is it advised that the fruits need to ferment for a while in order for the cake to taste really good? Let me know if that's incorrect or correct. Thanks sis keep up the amazing cooking.. Nuff love and respect..❤
@shawnim.777 in my experience no, the cake can be just as good with the fruits soaked for a short period. In fact if made correctly you won't be able to tell the difference.
Oh my goodness, I wish I would have found this video two weeks ago.. I just made this for a girlfriend of mine at work. And I think I put too much alcohol in it. Maybe it was the soaked fruit.I will have to try your recipe next time.. I made a DUI cake as I call it. Yours looks perfect 👌
@kamilavictor5936 yep too much alcohol can ruin the taste I explained that in the video for the prepared fruits. It's best to add the alcohol after the cake is baked. Just use more wine than rum to soak the fruits or it will have a strong bitter taste.
Why is this recipe different from your last one? I can understand different RUclips channels having varying recipes. But yours is changed between 2 different videos. Not sure which one to use now.
@lexdiamond20 there's not much of a difference to be honest, just a repeat of the same thing maybe alittle more or less fruits, I used ginger in this one which I never used before. Doesn't matter which one you chose they are all delicious.
@@candythaglamcook Your other recipe had less flour, less blended fruit puree, 50% less butter (this is a huge difference) and the baking time was 1.5-2 hours vs 2 hours or more for this one. I followed this recipe perfectly a few days ago and the cake was nothing like what Ive had my entire life from different bakers. Not as "rummy" as I expected and not as moist. I chose your recipe based on the fact that it was catered to just one pan. As opposed to the many other videos where they were making 3 pans or more. Hopefully I can find a more accurate recipe the next time I try this.
@lexdiamond20 i meant the one that's the same density as this one. I have lots of other recipes. You are referring to the cakey texture one, this is the dense texture one. I meant this is the same as the dense texture one. I did mention in the video this one was dense if you like a lighter texture then the amount of fruit is the only deciding factor less fruit light cake more fruit dense cake, now the amount of cake depends on the pans you use. I used a deep very large 9-10 inch pan so all the batter fit in there the cake was very thick so it took longer to cook. If you used smaller pans you would get 2 cakes and it would cook faster, If you tried one of my recipes in the past and it came out to your liking, I'd suggest you stick with that. It's what most ppl do. New recipes isn't always for everyone to try especially if you're not a professional.
@carolharkness5023 the fruits is soaked with rum and I poured rum over when the cake was done. You can add rum to yours let it bake away in the oven lol.

Hi sis, i am watching your video, and you said to bake it at 275°. On the discretion, you put 375°. 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
Thank you for pointing the temperature out. I was just about to. I know Candy is an excellent chef so that was a typo. She is a PRETTY good cook!
