Love the Arges. Although we do not install a ton of them in our small family/first responder owned and operated shop. When we do get the opportunity its definitely a treat for our techs and customers. Keep up the great work Whelen.
I use this in an off-road recreational environment and have had it installed for about 2 years on my bronco. Light output could be a bit better at this price. The control head is the weakest point in my use so far. I had to manually disassemble and buy very small c clips to shim the gear inside from rattling. The way they have designed the knob turning mechanism is really poor, it’s just a friction pad with a very cheap gear inside. Dust gets in there and it ends up grinding when turning. Doesn’t make it feel like a premium product. The light itself and the motor that powers it has lasted the 2 years of offroad. It does bounce around quite a bit on trails, would have been nice to have it be a bit firmer. Setup and calibration were easy with clear instructions. I’m here because I wanted to integrate the steering mirroring feature for this light. What is the minimum core box do I have to buy?
They will not make them for the crown vic, it’s a new spotlight for new vehicles. You want a whelen spotlight stick with the original design of the spotlight it’s brighter and better looking. Everything whelen is doing now is too futuristic and they are making these things way out of budget for the normal person, these whelen guys were good until 2012 now it’s all about more expensive and more electronics. DO NOT WASTE UR MONEY U CAN BUY SEVERAL OF THE OLD SPOTLIGHTS WITH THE AMOUNT YOU CAN BUY THIS ONE.
@@AnotherBadRepsounds like you got money hungry salesman in your area. Sounds like they need to get out and sell some more so they can make enough money so they don’t have the upsell stuff.
I would love to see a backlight dimming feature on the control head. It's obnoxiously bright inside of a dark vehicle. Also some sort of lock out for the control paddle. I have users accidently knock something into it and move the light from the home position all the time.

Does the control have to be mounted in a cabinet or console? What is the size of the controller? In regards to tracking steering of vehicle, will that work on a F150 and if so how does it get this signal? Does Core come with unit? Thanks
How do you calibrate the light to the controller? When the controller is straight the light is aiming 90 degrees left. Annoying when initiating a traffic stop

7:55 "it's the first innovation in spotlights for first responder vehicles in decades" You should learn about Europe, we have this kind of spotlights for years now, except than they are on the top of the car and because of safety reason we do not use them as flashing lights. And is it really used on fire trucks in the US??? Because here (in Switzerland at least), we have some big lights mounted on a telecopic mat on fire truck, it make it possible to illuminate a massiv area without dazzling anybody.

It has a backlight adjustment. The installer just has to install it correctly.

It would be really nice to have a dimming feature for the controller buttons for A shift guys, because the controller lights are pretty bright
Thanks for the feedback! We'll pass along to the design team.

Europe is gay and broke
Whelen and Federal Signal should try to make something together, that would be really cool!
Well, Federal Signal can’t make anything that looks good. Works all right stays working forever. But some Juan products are really expensive.
I refuse to believe that you couldn't design something that doesn't involve drilling through the body. Biggest flaw with the Arges.
These are just garbage on high speed pursuits. Air just blows them over, and they pointed the sky.
