Honestly, if this wasn’t a Halloween movie, it would’ve been a much better film. It feels like an original project with Micheal Myers shoehorned into the plot.
Honestly I always took Halloween as a 2 movie story. You can either take the original Halloween 1 and 2 or Halloween 1 and Halloween 2018 as the definitive start and ends. Either Michael dies burning in a Hospital or in a House. Anything past that you start wondering how he's alive with all the bullets, bruises, and burns he's taken.

My favorite part is when randomly the whole community got together in unison to see Michael get graciously tossed into the shredder. It reminds me of the scene of how the grinch stole Christmas in the ending where the whoville inhabitants got together in unison around the Christmas tree and sang
The intro with Laurie was so good, she was talking about being normal again and owning a normal house and I was actually shedding some tears.. I was expecting so much more out of this movie.
I wouldn’t really have liked that because I feel like the intimidation factor of Michael myers was that we didn’t really see his face. Unlike Corey, he just wasn’t scary at all in this film
Honestly I think the Cory character development might have worked if he was introduced far earlier in the trilogy and this gradually happened. But it doesn’t work to introduce him this late into the trilogy

I know there's people that say that Halloween Ends was horrible but I enjoyed it. The kills were brutal. I felt bad for Corey since that accident kinda ruined his life.
I know this is a joke, but it reminds me that there was actually 3 people in the theater I went to watch it at that was clapping/cheering when they were gonna toss Michael into the grinder. 😭

In the previous movie Laurie said he gets stronger every time he kills. He had to recharge his batteries by killing people which made him dangerous for like one scene. it wasn’t until after he killed Corey where he seemed scary and became the final boss. It was disappointing that Micheal got his butt kicked by Corey and some weird guy earlier.

On top of that he was locked up for 40 years and still had his strength and abilities, so him only getting in only a few kills over the four years he was in the sewer shouldn’t have done that much depowering to him.
The biggest problem, and what Charlie kinda touched on, is this was definitely two different movies. This was the end of THE Michael and Lori storyline, and was set up to be this big conclusion after the previous two movies. It should have been focused all on them, and while maybe not in the same night since Lori was super battered, either the following week or the NEXT Halloween, not 4 years later. Instead, what we got felt like what was supposed to be a continuation of the Halloween series after Michael is dead: Someone with similar psychotic tendencies who was maligned from society finds his mask and uses it to become the next Michael Myers. That COULD have been good, and the study of "what really makes The Shape so powerful is society's fear and paranoia" was good here, but this movie was not where this plot and study belonged. It was Mike and Lori's swan song, and it should have been focused on them. Sure, introduce Corey, that's fine, hint a bit about his psychotic tendencies, but save it for continuing the series AFTER this movie.

Perfect review of the movie. The beginning gets you into it and the rest is an absolute slog to get through. And then the last 10-15 minutes is actually enjoyable because it feels like we're telling a Halloween movie again, but it's so damn late that it doesn't matter. Destination? Great! The journey to get there? At least Jamie Lee Curtis was there sometime.

Me and my boyfriend watched Halloween Ends last night and we were both so confused. It seemed so out of character for the girl to just fall head over heels for the weird kid babysitter. It seemed like they focused not at all on Micheal which is what all of us tuned in for. And something else I found weird was that the trailer for Halloween ends looked like it was more about Micheal and Laurie having a final showdown.

Then again they did something similar with Halloween 2018. All the advertisements and trailers made it look like Michael Myers was returning for Laurie. When really the whole time he couldn’t care less about her and only fought Laurie because he was forcibly taken on the way to her house by the crazy doctor. In Halloween Kills I was actually cackling when Michael takes on the entire Fireman Squad. It literally echos a scene from Scary Movie with the way he is basically ballerina dancing through the kills.
I immediately was afraid of this once they announced two sequels immediately after the success of Halloween 2018. This is the third time now that they have not learned their damn lesson. They were pumping sequels out back to back with 4-6, then again with Resurrection, and finally with this. Michael is my favorite slasher and I'm so done with him being done dirty like this (yes he gets some impressive kills in this trilogy, but without decent writing it doesn't mean a whole lot).
For real. When I saw Halloween 2018, I was like "Okay, this movie ended in pretty much the same way Halloween II did, so I'd say it works as a decent sequel to the first film." annnnd then they announced two sequels and I thought "oh dear..." It should've just ended after 2018.
Michael is my favorite slasher too, and I’m embarrassed for people to know him like this. I hate that they even rebooted the franchise. The 2018 sequel was horrible compared to the original. I understand the creators are fans of the franchise too, but they don’t understand why the original is so scary. They turned this franchise into a standard stupid jump scare, loud noise, kind of horror movie.
This movie gave my friends and I a good laugh for a solid hour. Although the rave scene with no warning almost executed one of us via epilepsy. Imagine dying to this? I'd die.
Best thing about this film is the soundtrack. John Carpenter is a wizard in that department. The Halloween theme will never stop giving me goosebumps and the small changes to it over the years, though very little, is enough.
Yeah the franchise should've ended in 2018. Halloween Kills was a filler since evil didn't die that night and Halloween Ends just ended the series in a poor state since Laurie and Micheal weren't even the main focus of the movie even though that's what the trailers promoted.

What I wanted to question is tf did this movie just completely forget about The ending of Halloween kills where all of a sudden Micheal gets these like super powers to kill a whole group of people and then disappears like how did the people in that town not acknowledge that and also how was the babysitter able to overpower Micheal, and Micheal literally tanked a whole group of people in the last movie

My only guess would be that they sort of ran with the theory that Laurie explained at the end of Halloween Kills. That the more he kills, the stronger he is. Hence why he was able to kill a whole group of people. Whereas in this movie he's weak because he hadn't killed in big numbers like that in 4 years. But idk 🤷♀️. It was the most badass movie I've ever seen. When Mikey takes off his mask and reveals it's really Mikey from Ninja Turtles, Master Splinter gets hella pissed and becomes a mighty morbin power vampire go go shower bangers go.
They could fix a lot of movie simply by having Michael going around and start slowly picking people off close to, or who interact with Laruie; after Allyson starts dating that guy. Then the town starts to blame Allison's boyfriend because of the accident st the beginning. Sure the audeience would see it was michael , but the town wouldnt. So the town slowly starts to harass Allyson, her boyfriend and Laurie, only for Michael come out and start openly killing them again. Sure it wouldn't be perfect, but that's a way I can think to fix it without removing any character.
I really feel like the entire trilogy was just forced. Because the people involved should have just committed to either having Michael Myers be a mortal human. Or a being with supernatural abilities.
Why would Myers give a shit about anyone tied to Laurie? HKills established the plot twist that he doesn't give a single shit about her. He's just a random killing machine.
I feel like the whole point of mike being so weak was that no one was afraid of him anymore so he wasn’t as powerful as he used to be. The problem lies in the fact that they give us no concrete reason as to why he’s so weak all of a sudden, if he is supposed to be weaker because no one is afraid of him anymore than they did a horrible job at conveying that.

me and my family put this on as a “family movie night” movie and throughout the whole thing we were laughing about how bad it was and making predictions about the movie that were sooo easy to predict.
I watched the original Halloween movie, and God it makes me feel so sad especially when the series kept going on like a dying dog. Maybe Halloween should've stayed as a film or two.

It’s really just such a shame. Halloween 2018 was a really good alternative to Halloween 2. I always told all my friends that the best ones to watch were 1, 2, 3, and then 2018 is you felt you wanted a solid alternative ending to Michael’s story, like if 2 just didn’t do it for you, for whatever reason. Because 2018, and even its marketing, felt like it knew the weight of the franchise it was putting a new bookend on, it knew how many times the series had “ended” and been rebooted, and it wanted to actually do it right, because even though you could just ignore everything after 2, everyone involved clearly wanted the final note of the series to be a high one. And it would have been. But the inevitable happened. It made too much money. So they started gaslighting all of us, and pretending like they “always planned to have it be a trilogy”, no, they didn’t. Yeah, Michael got away, but that’s kind of the point. His evil lives on, he is the boogeyman, he’s the figure you see in the corner of your room at night, he’s not like Freddy or Jason, where he’s over-the-top, or killing for fun, he just IS. So I told my friends, “If you want a conclusion to Michael’s story, watch the original 2. If you want something that leaves evil to continue, which is more fitting for a horror movie icon, then watch 2018. And then watch 3 no matter what, it’s a great movie, the Halloween movies were originally meant yo be an anthology, and three is the first one to finally follow up on that, since 1 made too much money, and the studio demanded an immediate sequel to Michael’s story.” But, here we are now. Halloween Kills went back on the promise that Michael would not be supernatural anymore, and then Halloween Ends went too far in the opposite direction, and completely deflated any intimidation Michael might have had, by having him get defeated by an old woman in his only major on-screen appearance in the film. So it’s just like… Was 2018 a fluke? Did they genuinely just not understand that what makes Michael different from all the other horror movie icons, and therefore, allows him to deliver his own unique flavor of horror? Michael Meyers was NEVER supernatural, like the most similar horror icon, Jason Vorhees. Both are faceless strong guys, who teleport around, but Jason was explicitly supernatural from the start, he was always a zombie. Michael, by comparison, was always just a guy. We see his human face several times in the first movie. We see him as a CHILD. All of that should remove his fear factor, but it doesn’t. Because all these other monsters are scary because you can’t possibly fight back. Michael is scary because he’s the guy standing outside your house. Staring.

They’re both two of my favorite Halloween movies. And I completely agree 2018 is an ending if you want it to be like a typical “is he dead, is is he not dead,” ending. Halloween kills is fun and actually has a decent enough ending where you can believe that dead. Halloween ends it’s just it’s just a complete what the fuck ball of idiocy.
Well I mean Micheal has survived plenty of things that should kill a human, so there definitely is some “supernatural” elements in him. [It would also be super hard and unconvincing if you were to make a horror slasher that actually was just human, since it could just make the viewer say “Hey, why hasn’t the Police just shot him in the head??” Or “why not just blow him up??” Or any obvious absurd ways to kill a normal human, but these are things that you obviously don’t have to worry about with characters that aren’t Human.]
Watching horror movies in theaters vs at home makes a huge difference. I watched Halloween Ends in theaters and it was pretty enjoyable. It was a good watch for my friend and I. I watched a movie a while back called the Black Phone, and I Initially watched it in theaters and watched it again months later with my friend who hadn't seen it before. He was left a little disappointed, and honestly so was I. Horror movies just seem to be better in theaters.
They really had the layup of continuing the trilogy and making it one night of slaughter but they tried to make it more than it needed to be. The final 30 minutes was good but it happened really fast so I was hoping for more.
Yeah it's pretty sad that they "ended" it like that - me and a friend watched it and were just completely disappointed. I'm a fan of Halloween Kills, because it was just trashy fun but this movie was just mostly boring - agreeing on your takes. I am waiting for the next movie "Halloween Never Ends", justice for Michael :)

Honestly, if this wasn’t a Halloween movie, it would’ve been a much better film. It feels like an original project with Micheal Myers shoehorned into the plot.
Honestly I always took Halloween as a 2 movie story. You can either take the original Halloween 1 and 2 or Halloween 1 and Halloween 2018 as the definitive start and ends. Either Michael dies burning in a Hospital or in a House. Anything past that you start wondering how he's alive with all the bullets, bruises, and burns he's taken.

Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween IV-The Return Of Michael Myers (1988), Halloween H20-20 Years Later (1998), & Halloween (2018) are all awesome. The rest are not worth it to me.
My favorite part is when randomly the whole community got together in unison to see Michael get graciously tossed into the shredder. It reminds me of the scene of how the grinch stole Christmas in the ending where the whoville inhabitants got together in unison around the Christmas tree and sang

In the previous movie Laurie said he gets stronger every time he kills. He had to recharge his batteries by killing people which made him dangerous for like one scene. it wasn’t until after he killed Corey where he seemed scary and became the final boss. It was disappointing that Micheal got his butt kicked by Corey and some weird guy earlier.

On top of that he was locked up for 40 years and still had his strength and abilities, so him only getting in only a few kills over the four years he was in the sewer shouldn’t have done that much depowering to him.
The biggest problem, and what Charlie kinda touched on, is this was definitely two different movies. This was the end of THE Michael and Lori storyline, and was set up to be this big conclusion after the previous two movies. It should have been focused all on them, and while maybe not in the same night since Lori was super battered, either the following week or the NEXT Halloween, not 4 years later. Instead, what we got felt like what was supposed to be a continuation of the Halloween series after Michael is dead: Someone with similar psychotic tendencies who was maligned from society finds his mask and uses it to become the next Michael Myers. That COULD have been good, and the study of "what really makes The Shape so powerful is society's fear and paranoia" was good here, but this movie was not where this plot and study belonged. It was Mike and Lori's swan song, and it should have been focused on them. Sure, introduce Corey, that's fine, hint a bit about his psychotic tendencies, but save it for continuing the series AFTER this movie.

Perfect review of the movie. The beginning gets you into it and the rest is an absolute slog to get through. And then the last 10-15 minutes is actually enjoyable because it feels like we're telling a Halloween movie again, but it's so damn late that it doesn't matter.

I’m gonna be completely honest, watching this movie in a theater was the most fun experience I’ve ever had in a theater. I’ve never been so absolutely bewildered watching a movie and I loved it, I had no clue what happened at all and I was happier for it. Me and my boyfriend watched Halloween Ends last night and we were both so confused.
It seemed so out of character for the girl to just fall head over heels for the weird kid babysitter.
It seemed like they focused not at all on Micheal which is what all of us tuned in for.
And something else I found weird was that the trailer for Halloween ends looked like it was more about Micheal and Laurie having a final showdown.
I love how after being proved wrong before (Halloween 2018), Alyson tells Laurie that she doesn’t believe her about Corey or Michael 😂

I immediately was afraid of this once they announced two sequels immediately after the success of Halloween 2018. This is the third time now that they have not learned their damn lesson. They were pumping sequels out back to back with 4-6, then again with Resurrection, and finally with this. Michael is my favorite slasher and I'm so done with him being done dirty like this (yes he gets some impressive kills in this trilogy, but without decent writing it doesn't mean a whole lot).

Best thing about this film is the soundtrack. John Carpenter is a wizard in that department. The Halloween theme will never stop giving me goosebumps and the small changes to it over the years, though very little, is enough.

Yeah the franchise should've ended in 2018. Halloween Kills was a filler since evil didn't die that night and Halloween Ends just ended the series in a poor state since Laurie and Micheal weren't even the main focus of the movie even though that's what the trailers promoted.

It was the most badass movie I've ever seen. When Mikey takes off his mask and reveals it's really Mikey from Ninja Turtles, Master Splinter gets hella pissed and becomes a mighty morbin power vampire go go shower bangers go.
They could fix a lot of movie simply by having Michael going around and start slowly picking people off close to, or who interact with Laruie; after Allyson starts dating that guy. Then the town starts to blame Allison's boyfriend because of the accident st the beginning. Sure the audeience would see it was michael , but the town wouldnt. So the town slowly starts to harass Allyson, her boyfriend and Laurie, only for Michael come out and start openly killing them again. Sure it wouldn't be perfect, but that's a way I can think to fix it without removing any character.

me and my family put this on as a “family movie night” movie and throughout the whole thing we were laughing about how bad it was and making predictions about the movie that were sooo easy to predict.

Halloween 2018 was a really good alternative to Halloween 2.
I always told all my friends that the best ones to watch were 1, 2, 3, and then 2018 is you felt you wanted a solid alternative ending to Michael’s story, like if 2 just didn’t do it for you, for whatever reason.
Because 2018, and even its marketing, felt like it knew the weight of the franchise it was putting a new bookend on, it knew how many times the series had “ended” and been rebooted, and it wanted to actually do it right, because even though you could just ignore everything after 2, everyone involved clearly wanted the final note of the series to be a high one.
And it would have been. But the inevitable happened. It made too much money. So they started gaslighting all of us, and pretending like they “always planned to have it be a trilogy”, no, they didn’t.
Yeah, Michael got away, but that’s kind of the point. His evil lives on, he is the boogeyman, he’s the figure you see in the corner of your room at night, he’s not like Freddy or Jason, where he’s over-the-top, or killing for fun, he just IS.
So I told my friends, “If you want a conclusion to Michael’s story, watch the original 2. If you want something that leaves evil to continue, which is more fitting for a horror movie icon, then watch 2018. And then watch 3 no matter what, it’s a great movie, the Halloween movies were originally meant yo be an anthology, and three is the first one to finally follow up on that, since 1 made too much money, and the studio demanded an immediate sequel to Michael’s story.”
But, here we are now. Halloween Kills went back on the promise that Michael would not be supernatural anymore, and then Halloween Ends went too far in the opposite direction, and completely deflated any intimidation Michael might have had, by having him get defeated by an old woman in his only major on-screen appearance in the film.
So it’s just like… Was 2018 a fluke? Did they genuinely just not understand that what makes Michael different from all the other horror movie icons, and therefore, allows him to deliver his own unique flavor of horror?
Michael Meyers was NEVER supernatural, like the most similar horror icon, Jason Vorhees. Both are faceless strong guys, who teleport around, but Jason was explicitly supernatural from the start, he was always a zombie.
Michael, by comparison, was always just a guy. We see his human face several times in the first movie. We see him as a CHILD. All of that should remove his fear factor, but it doesn’t.
Because all these other monsters are scary because you can’t possibly fight back. Michael is scary because he’s the guy standing outside your house. Staring.
Dude holy shit that was so goddamn well put. Especially all your opinions about Halloween ll. I love H2 and it is so underrated and so is Halloween three. They’re both two of my favorite Halloween movies. And I completely agree 2018 is an ending if you want it to be like a typical “is he dead, is is he not dead,” ending. Halloween kills is fun and actually has a decent enough ending where you can believe that dead. Halloween ends it’s just it’s just a complete what the fuck ball of idiocy.

Well I mean Micheal has survived plenty of things that should kill a human, so there definitely is some “supernatural” elements in him.
[It would also be super hard and unconvincing if you were to make a horror slasher that actually was just human, since it could just make the viewer say “Hey, why hasn’t the Police just shot him in the head??” Or “why not just blow him up??” Or any obvious absurd ways to kill a normal human, but these are things that you obviously don’t have to worry about with characters that aren’t Human.]
He is supernatural, he got shot multiple times in the first one and stabbed and lived

Watching horror movies in theaters vs at home makes a huge difference. I watched Halloween Ends in theaters and it was pretty enjoyable. It was a good watch for my friend and I. I watched a movie a while back called the Black Phone, and I Initially watched it in theaters and watched it again months later with my friend who hadn't seen it before. He was left a little disappointed, and honestly so was I. Horror movies just seem to be better in theaters.

Halloween ends feels like a fanfic.
They really had the layup of continuing the trilogy and making it one night of slaughter but they tried to make it more than it needed to be. The final 30 minutes was good but it happened really fast so I was hoping for more.
