Was brought on by dead skin layering the foot locking in sweat
Dont worry. Only if your skin turns yellow are you in danger of liver failure. Itches happen alot.

The Locked-In syndrome scares the shit outta me. Could you imagine being fully conscious and aware of what's happening but not being able to move your own body? Sounds utterly terrifying
Netherwolf6100
Sleep paralysis
Hi-keeba lucidity is when dreaming, no? When you’re dreaming but know you are. Not when you’re conscious but can’t move, that’s more sleep paralysis.
KucklePuff lucid dreaming is when you are asleep, but you are aware that you are sleeping, and so you are often able to change your dreams into whatever you want, like flying or driving at high speeds.
And so becoming lucid while under anesthesia would be to become aware of your surroundings, but you're not dreaming.
It makes sense, but you could very well be right that it's not the right term

I actually had Cushing's as a teen (was diagnosed thanks to this show, a friend suggested it to me), and two surgeries on my pituitary to remove tumors. Eventually they took out my adrenal glands, after the third recurrence, so I still have the tumor, but now have a variation of Addison's disease. Went from 241lbs at my heaviest (which was alarming, I had been an athletic kid) to about 115lbs now, 5'6".
fealubryne do u know which episode
I’d advise you don’t rely too much on this show for diagnostics. Some are more medically accurate than others. But I’m glad you made a recovery and lost enough weight, well done :)

This video really showed how Kutner and (then) Chase were the two most likely members to become the "next House". They think differently than the other members.
But Chase came first, and did it first; Kutner was Chase, the Sequel. :)
@@wobby1268 Personally I always thought Kutner was the smartest and most like house in the out of the box thinking way and sudden epiphanies including the first team, also was reckless several times, like house always is. He would have made an awesome future Head of Diagnostics although not as entertaining as house himself.
@@grimreaper15 Too bad Kal Penn took a job with the Obama administration causing him to leave the show. His Kutner character was brilliant and unorthodox which would have been fertile ground for some great writing.

I'm really surprised that the fanbase of House is still alive and it's 2018, I remember watching this TV show on my native language in 2010, but I always wanted to watch it when I learn English sometimes, it's hard to understand some parts without subs, but I get the point anyway. Wilson is my favorite character in this show and Cameron, I'm in love with her.
I'm glad you like it in english as well, I find that House often gets mistranslated in other languages because medics are often respected professionals that are expected to be respectful (something that House is not) and I think it changes the character for the worse.
Григорий Ховер Why do I find so many people with your name?
Григорий Ховер I watched the series back in 2009, those were the days
RandalfElVikingo true... true
CoverofWinter I know this comment is like 3 months old and you probably don't really care but you're right with the translation thing. I speak German and English so I often transition between the German version and the English version. I have to say, house is equally as witty in the German translation. Sometimes character's personality doesn't show that well in their respective dubs but German does quite a good job. However in the episode when the one part of a lesbian couple had the black plague, a joke that worked well in the English version does not work in the German dub. House was just about to confirm his diagnosis when he poked a needle into a lump the patient had and extracted a black fluid. In the German version the black plague isn't called "black plague" but instead it is called "beulen pest", which translates to "lump" or "dent" plague. However when he extracts the fluid, he says "we've got a case of plague" to which chase curiously responds "the black plague?", to which house looks at the syringe filled with black fluid and says "seems like it" implying since the fluid is black it must be the black plague. In the German version however chase asks "die beulen pest?" rendering the joke, or the implication rather, not as effective.

“Hey Seth 2 laps bye”
The chimerism one freaked me the heck out hahaha. “He’s two people in one”
It's like "Doublemint" gum!
was also a theme in an episode of CSI
You have to wonder what's happening in the minds of animals with Chimerism. A person can tell you through hallucinations and body malfunctions, a rat can't.
I really like that they had an episode about symptomatic chimerism. it's actually fairly common, but it doesn't usually cause symptoms. things like unilateral skin hyperpigmentation usually indicate chimerism, but it would only be found incidentally. there are a few different well-known cases of chimerism where a mother's biological relation to her kids was called into question because DNA taken from her blood didn't match that of her children; in one case, DNA taken from the woman's cervix DID match her children
Haven't seen the full episode yet, but the chimerism symptoms we see in this video (unconscious, inexplicable bleeding from the waist) is really chilling to see.
A television show that makes you think and use your brain they had to take it off the air.
Will Warden sorry but the last 2 seasons were bad. The show lasted way too long and turned to crap it should have ended right after the original crew left.
Which was in season 4 if I remember correctly.
"makes you think". For any person not involved in medicine thinking is very limited.
It's definitely fun to guess, even if you have no knowledge.
Yo Shinji Get In The Robot guess what? A complicated case of common cold? Aids? Ah, maybe this time it's lupus!
90% of the audience doesn't know half of the deseases named in a single episode. There is no guessing.
Sheol_IK I was young when I would watch this on cable and this show was indeed very good for my mind. It always made me think and sometimes I'd be so fascinated by the dramatizations of what's going on inside their bodies. I'd try to spot which organ or part of the body was being shown. It is always fun to guess, now that I'm older and know a bit more about medicine than I used to. And it even helped me on tests in schools that were on things like bones and systems of the body. I'd remember things I'd seen to the show when I was young and use it to help me. My point is, people without an in-depth understanding of medicine can be thinking while watching the show.
If anyone wants to know more about life with Locked-In Syndrome, there’s a short book called “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” which is a short first hand account of this syndrome, where the author communicated words with his left eyelid.
That’s fucking awesome. I mean, it must’ve sucked for the author, but DAMN that’s cool.
Reminds me of a story about someone with Locked-In Syndrome whose body was positioned to watch the television, and every day, Barney would play.
He ended up hating Barney with such an impossible, abyssal depth that he pulled himself back from the brink through pure spite.
I remember that story. They thought he was brain damaged or impared and would just leave kiddy shows on for him to watch?
They made it into a movie. It is a beautiful one.
@@NexonPlayerNA You're talking about Martin Pistorious "Ghost Boy". I read his book. Amazing stuff. It was the first full book I read.

*House, always the MVP*
So glad I finished this show before Netflix removed it. Lots of great moments in this one
what great did Netflix not remove ?
House is now on Amazon prime video
...It's still in Netflix in Brazil, dunno what you're talking about.
Badgabr not many of us are from Brazil mate
The Squid man17 yeah I know, I just find it weird that Netflix removes it for some countries but not for other. People recently were praising for Friends in Netflix but we have it since at least 2014.
Chimerism was awesome. It was the first time I was able to figure out what was wrong before House did. IT FELT AMAZING.
Tyr Barghest i know that feel, but in my case it was rabies
Tyr Barghest I got rabies when House was going threw the metaphor for it. But I also got Chimerism before House and, you're right, it feels amazing.
Tyr Barghest I did the same thing with the leprosy episode. Happened to watch it the day after we had a talk about leprosy
For me, it was Cushings Syndrome, Rabies, and the condition the Death Row patient had... I was able to guess that the problem was the tumor on the adrenal gland, but not the actual name of the condition.
That's how I felt about the plague since I studied it in Highschool And made a presentation on the symptoms and transmission of the disease.
For the love of God if someone has a seizure DO NOT HOLD THEM DOWN! Put something something soft under their head or cradle it with your hands and when they stop convulsing carefully put them on their side in the recovery position. Also time the seizure - if it is longer than 2 minutes call am ambulance.
HarrietTwelveThree they wete in a hospital numbskull
williechops that was just general advice, not specifically about the scene (the ambulance part)
Thank you for that one. I really didn't know. My cousin sometimes has convulsions. By the way why to call an ambulance if it's longer than two minutes?
Shanaya Zaveri From what I remember it’s because a longer seizure can indicate brain damage or other underlying issues, but I’m not sure. In fact you’re supposed to call an ambulance if it’s also the victim’s first seizure or if they don’t regain consciousness afterwards
@@NatLaS thanks! I'll keep that in mind.

Okay, I blinked when House asked the patient to blink. 🤣
The first time i saw the "Akinetopsia" episode, i was thinking "wtf!!" when the teenage didn't catch the bag of chips and then dropped to the floor in seizure, then laughed out loud when House said "God, i love this family" right after while his facial expression is like "Cool". The reason House is such a good doctor is that he picks up on the little things that other doctors don't even realize.
"I didn't say failing, I said failure, just like you." Damn that's savage.
Clicked on this video to comment on how the whole premise of the show is weird cases... Shouldn't the title be more specific? Lol
Legacy Me too pretty much every episode of House could be accurately titled "Strange Conditions"
Weird cases doesn't equal strange conditions. Many episodes are common conditions that appear to be something else, several conditions that mix together to form a strange case or just a very unlikely cause to a common condition.
If you think this is the premise of the show, you couldnt get the point of the show
LegacyFTW if you have a medical background, you understand that that's really not true. The cases and how they get to final diagnosis is often strange, but not the conditions themselves.
We've got a bunch of doctors in the House. Damn kids wanna talk about semantics, lmao.

Akinetopsia or simply motion blindness, is neuro phenomenon that’s usually a symptom of an underlying neurological disease. Typically older patients that will experience this are undergoing through dementia, or Alzheimer’s. Individuals over 25 that experience this disorder may also be in the final stages of Parkinson’s disease or ALS. Other possible causes of course can be the result of inflammation or infection such as encephalitis, or an active lesion taking place in a patient who has multiple sclerosis. Unless a patient has epilepsy, akinetopsia should not be diagnosed of in self alone unless testing for other disease come back negative, and that’s including drug screening for recreational substances, and psychiatric disorders have also been dismissed.
The idea that when you become motion blind means it's near the end made me sad. I'm not sure why.
