Weird cases doesn't equal strange conditions. Many episodes are common conditions that appear to be something else, several conditions that mix together to form a strange case or just a very unlikely cause to a common condition.
LegacyFTW if you have a medical background, you understand that that's really not true. The cases and how they get to final diagnosis is often strange, but not the conditions themselves.
Akinetopsia or simply motion blindness, is neuro phenomenon that’s usually a symptom of an underlying neurological disease. Typically older patients that will experience this are undergoing through dementia, or Alzheimer’s. Individuals over 25 that experience this disorder may also be in the final stages of Parkinson’s disease or ALS. Other possible causes of course can be the result of inflammation or infection such as encephalitis, or an active lesion taking place in a patient who has multiple sclerosis. Unless a patient has epilepsy, akinetopsia should not be diagnosed of in self alone unless testing for other disease come back negative, and that’s including drug screening for recreational substances, and psychiatric disorders have also been dismissed.
Isabeau Wolf, that’s love. My mum bas joined me watching episodes. She’s clever and would sometimes figure vs out like “dwarfism they didn’t know about!”. I love getting to know things about family members I didn’t realize before.
My niece suffers seizures, from what we have read and were told by doctor was that a seizure patient was to be placed on their side and not left on their back as that could lead them chocking on their saliva or vomit. So it was a little concerning when I saw that guy on the floor on his back...
that's dangerous if they are convulsing. you could hurt their neck doing that. but that doesn't really apply to my niece's seizure's. she doesn't really convulse. my mom has epilepsy too and I've never witnessed her having one, but her seizure's are pretty violent. she had one in the bathroom a few years ago and took out the shower door and glass stuff on the counters, so i'm not sure holding her down or holding her head would've helped.
ILOVEMARILYNMANSON89 Well Soviet Who Cuts is right. My sister and I do place a pillow or rolled up clothes under her head, it’s so the neck doesn’t twist in an unnatural way.
@@AHimuraProduction No, it's not. It's so that when people who experience seizures, has one, they aren't cracking their skull by banging it repeatedly against the floor. If you wanted to prevent the neck from twisting, you would use a neck brace, or a paralytic. I have some experience with seizures, seeing as I've had them my whole life. Your misinformation is minor, but still misinformation that can lead someone to cripple a seizure patient from drawing wrong conclusions based on that minor misinformation.
Oh god, I remember watching this with my mom once (I was 8) and it was an episode about rats. Then came my bedtime and I was crying in hysterics to my dad that he needed to make sure that there weren’t rats in the house. He turned to my mom and said “that’s the last time she’s ever allowed to watch medical shows before her bedtime”
I saw the Akinotopsia on a youtube short recently. The way House phased out like that, I was mesmerized. These special cases must be what he lives for, because he has way too much fun at their expense.

Shanaya Zaveri From what I remember it’s because a longer seizure can indicate brain damage or other underlying issues, but I’m not sure. In fact you’re supposed to call an ambulance if it’s also the victim’s first seizure or if they don’t regain consciousness afterwards
@@NatLaS thanks! I'll keep that in mind.
The first time i saw the "Akinetopsia" episode, i was thinking "wtf!!" when the teenage didn't catch the bag of chips and then dropped to the floor in seizure, then laughed out loud when House said "God, i love this family" right after while his facial expression is like "Cool". And it still makes me smile today.
RogueAndroid when I first say it I knew The show and Dr. House well enough that I assumed he was doing something specific with the light at the kid
"My Chest Hurts"
"How do you think the ground feels"
Kids can be so mean
the PE teacher for Jessica seemed like the sweetest man
The reason House is such a good doctor is that he picks up on the little things that other doctors don't even realize.
Okay, I blinked when House asked the patient to blink. 🤣
"I didn't say failing, I said failure, just like you." Damn that's savage.
4:35
*Worst*
*Period*
*EVER*
I hate how this is one of my most liked comments
Omg you are so right, this made me laugh too much
I remember watching an episode before that one when I was about 6-7 where a girl was a hermaphrodite which caused her condition. The moment I saw this episode I blurted out "HE'S A SHE!!!!"
"What do you want to do?"
"Assume that Cameron did not screw up"
Party's on =)
House: itchy foot means liver failure
Me: I must’ve had liver failure a lot then
you are not alone
Yes ohh hold on I have a itching 🦶 foot oops 😬 now my liver gone off my plate and plate of Bar-B-Que chicken from Kentucky fried chicken restaurant are disappearing . Nevermind my sneaky dogs and cat just ran away my under my table . Hey Casey and Sally and Burt bring back my dinner 🍽️ ! Now ‼️😸🐶🐱🐕
Am I the only one who thinks inducing a seizure in someone else may not be the most sound decision
Vence Ibul yeah and then holding them down too
FluFflE WaRrioR44 you're supposed to keep their head still
Mind over Body no your not, you just leave them and make sure that there isn’t any sharp or dangerous objects around
Sairs well that's what I was told to do when I did my seniors first aid certificate 😂
Mind over Body really ?! When I was doing my national exam it said that you should just leave them until their episode is over
Dude, chimerism is so cool and interesting, if i could study it my entire life i would
got an itchy foot? WELL GOOD JOB YOU HAVE *LIVER FAILURE*
I love that last scene. House, Foreman, and Chase discussing it as a team of basically equals. I don't remember seeing this in other parts of the series. It's usually house asking for ideas and then shutting them down _(which is a good way to think critically and brainstorm ideas)_.
I love how he says he has a double speciality in infectious disease and nephrology but knows everything about everything
Really enjoyed this show. Hugh Laurie was fantastic
Clicked on this video to comment on how the whole premise of the show is weird cases... Shouldn't the title be more specific? Lol
Legacy Me too pretty much every episode of House could be accurately titled "Strange Conditions"
Weird cases doesn't equal strange conditions. Many episodes are common conditions that appear to be something else, several conditions that mix together to form a strange case or just a very unlikely cause to a common condition.
If you think this is the premise of the show, you couldnt get the point of the show
LegacyFTW if you have a medical background, you understand that that's really not true. The cases and how they get to final diagnosis is often strange, but not the conditions themselves.
We've got a bunch of doctors in the House. Damn kids wanna talk about semantics, lmao.
Anyone: has a severe medical condition House: oH bOy ThIs Is GoNnA bE fUn
"God i love this family" kills me everytime 😂😂😂
NEVER HOLD DOWN A PERSON SEIZING YOU COUKD HURT THEM TRUST ME I HAVE EPILEPSY.
House went "OMAE WA MOU SHINDEIRU!!!" and then the guy seized xD
Nikolas Vegas o
That's some next level stuff
The gym teacher was so nice and reacted really well
I miss this show so much
Ty Ty me too 🙁
The one who made this compilation deserves a medal.
The idea that when you become motion blind means it's near the end made me sad. I'm not sure why.
Everytime I watch this kind of house videos
I swear that am totally upset for not having the chance to study medicine 😕
Odai Shihab me too brother.
This show gave me drive and motivation to get into med school, gonna start in october
The reality is totally different, trust me.
@@musical_lolu4811 am a nurse now lol
Not to late
... foreman asking why to do an MRI for suspected case of Cushing’s syndrome baffles me as 3rd year med student
I laughed
I'm not in medschool and I was also baffled as to why he wouldn't he want to see if there was a tumor on the pituitary.
Same!!
I binged watched house m.d with my husband, he would get bored of it but still watch it with me since he knew I loved the show.
That's awesome.
Isabeau Wolf, that’s love. My mum bas joined me watching episodes. She’s clever and would sometimes figure vs out like “dwarfism they didn’t know about!”. I love getting to know things about family members I didn’t realize before.
“ I didn’t say failing I said failure “
“ just like you “
😭😂
6:50 i like how he asked the black kid knowing he would be the fastest lol
Tsunat3z
I love how you americans always over analyze everything !!!
simplythebest286 r/woooshhhhh
Yes, unless he had to swim there
Tsunat3z technically speaking, black people have an extra leg muscle so it makes since they’re faster (whoops I killed the joke)
thanks house now whenever my foot itches i'm gonna be paranoid my liver's failing. just like you.

**guy has a seizure**
“God, I love this family! “
This man right here 🤣
Girl: *jumps and fainted*
Me: *jumps in P.E and chests starts to hurt*
My brain: oh sh-
The scene where they do a spontaneous differential for Jess' case is so good.
My old man was a gym teacher. That whole "two laps, bye" bit was pretty nostalgic.
*guy starts seizing violently*
Me: Oh yeah, Wilson. Hold him down, that's totally proper medical protocol.
My foot is itchy and now I think I have liver failure. Thanks House
6:52.
This should be turned into a GIF, if you're asking me.
You don't restraim someone if there having a sizure you have to move the stuff from around them.
My niece suffers seizures, from what we have read and were told by doctor was that a seizure patient was to be placed on their side and not left on their back as that could lead them chocking on their saliva or vomit. So it was a little concerning when I saw that guy on the floor on his back...
same with my niece and I agree with you too. I can't believe a medical show can't get something that simple right.
that's dangerous if they are convulsing. you could hurt their neck doing that. but that doesn't really apply to my niece's seizure's. she doesn't really convulse. my mom has epilepsy too and I've never witnessed her having one, but her seizure's are pretty violent. she had one in the bathroom a few years ago and took out the shower door and glass stuff on the counters, so i'm not sure holding her down or holding her head would've helped.
0:52 He just realized who he was and had that "I'm your biggest fan" shock.
And........it's lupus.
"how do you think the ground feels" - Jesus christ that was savage
“I didn’t say failing I said failure like you” 😂😂😂 I died
"I didn't say 'failing' I said 'failure', just like you."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love House.
These special cases must be what he lives for, because he has way too much fun at their expense.
itchy foot? liver failure
foot: wait im ichy bruh
I’d been looking for that teleporting clip for
So long! Loved that part
Itchy foot, liver failure
Me: that’s weird (while scratching foot)
kutner basically nailing every problem makes his tragic all the more tragic
The Cushinoid kid was an awesome case.
‘I didn’t say failing, I said failure just like you” Made my day
*seizure occurs*
I love this family
I am a little peeved that in the first minute they deal with a seizure in the wrong way by holding his body down instead of supporting the head and letting him ride it out
tbh alien hand syndrome shouldve made it into the video :D
Kutner is a Genius
DarkRider which is why it threw House off when he killed himself.
Kutner was just "Chase: The Sequel" -- the laid-back stoner dude who's actually the sharpest diagnostician on his team following in the footsteps of the laid-back surfer dude who's actually the sharpest diagnostician on *his* team.
The actor got a job at the white house
“My chest herts” “how do you think the ground feels” 🤣🤣 had me dieing
Well thats not how you're suppose to treat someone going through a seizure.
I wish this show was still on Netflix
When that kid had a seizure it remains me the unnamed person that i hang around who has a drinking problem and when ever unnamed person has one it doesn't surprise me (i help him when he's done spasing out). Don't drink, I've seen said person get worse and worse every day.
"Itchy foot means liver failure"
Me itching my own foot just now: hold on doc what?
