  • See Corbett put the finishing touches on the airsealing and insulation of the #DryVault's enclosure. All that's left is to test the airtightness and insulation perfection with blower doors, infrared cameras, lasers and spaceships. Thank you for such a clear explanation and introduction to useful new products!
    I have a seemingly simple question that all Certainteed has refused to answer about MemBrain installation, because I am a small potato and not worth their time.
    I am rehabbing a 1976 mobile home in Melbourne Florida.
    I would like to instal a smart air barrier like Intello... but my only option is on the inside wall as in your video
    ALL instructions say in "hot & humid" climate it must go on the exterior wall. I am NOT removing the aluminum sheeting from my home, as it would ruin it.
    Is it going to cause a serious issue to install Intello on the interior wall over unfaced JM Batts?
    I am looking for a reasonable way to tighten up a very poor quality building
    Not looking for guarantees... just desperate for some information that apparently the products are not willing to risk answering.

    Nice video. You may want to check out the electrical boxes from Allied Moulding Products Inc. They come with a flange so that you can adhesive caulk the Intello to the box. It is polyester molded and comes with interesting air sealing around wires and 2-hr fire rating.

      Joseph thanks- I actually saw airtight junction boxes at Ace Hardware of all places!

    I always thought using closed spray foam is the best way to insulate and seal a house?

    • @HomePerformance
      @HomePerformance  6 лет назад +1

      Of couse the spray foam companies want you to believe that- lots of money is spent on marketing to make you believe things that are not true.

      I'm not going by the spray companies. I'm going by what quality contractors like Mike Holmes and Tom Silva say.

      There is no ‘best way’ for anything. It doesn’t apply to kids, ethnicities, learning styles, or construction. There are tools and techniques, each of which offer benefits and side effects. Choose and go with it.

    Great video! I’m about to start the process of installing the intello membrane in my house & I had a question I can’t seem to find an answer too.
    I have a 2 story house, should I be installing intello in between my first & 2nd floor?

    • @HomePerformance
      @HomePerformance  3 года назад +2

      Just between INSIDE and OUTSIDE- no need to separate the interior walls or floors within the home, Dan. What’ll really bust your balls is whether you care enough to intello the band joist. I do not.

      @@HomePerformance Thank you for clearing that up for me & for the quick reply! Yeah the rim joists or band joists as you call them are going to be a PITA. I might go with foam board & spray foam.
      Anyways thanks again, keep up the good work!

    Do you not put the intello on the floor? and I’m looking at DIY’ing a tiny house and I’ve been looking at 1000 of videos! So my other question is would I put this intello in a tiny house the will be cooled with a mini split and heated with a wood burning stove? (Also living in GA) would it cause more mood growth ? 🤔

      Don’t use a wood stove- get a minisplit that heats and cools
