- there is a notorious website called backpage.com that until recently was a hub for trafficking in underage sex workers. a lot of this trafficking takes place in the next neighborhood over from where i live. the screen shots are all from ads on that were on backpage for children being used for sex work.
the song petite is about these girls.
at the end of the song "faith torn apart" on FORGET there is a specific line devoted to each of the girls in the photos used in this video. - Jamie Stewart

This was hard to watch. I teach high school kids and I never ever want any of them to fall into the clutches of the monsters who run sites like these.

This video is very sad, but recognize on the flip side, backpage was also home to a lot of legitimate, not underage sex workers. Coming from a community of squatters and punks and I knew a lot of people who lost many clients when that site shut down. Sex workers are really getting screwed recently....Well, actually they're not getting screwed, which is the problem. Craigslist Personals, Backpage, shut down. Where is a legit sex worker supposed to go?
Also, please keep making solid music. I've been listening to your stuff forever.
The sex workers should denounce the indifference from sites like that - anyone who not denuntiative of illegal sex work is complying with it in some sense, even more in cases of child abuse. I would never contract any kind of job from someone like that.
sex work is not real work; it is entrapment for the vulnerable at the behest of entitled men.

im a massive xiu xiu fan but i really feel that this video is ill-conceived and potentially irresponsible. how is revealing these girls' identities going to help them, or others in their situation? we don't need to see their faces to feel empathy, and i think this video risks undermining both the song and the poem at the end of 'faith torn apart'
