The Ridgeline Is an amazing vehicle and would work well for 80% of the people out there. However, if you tow anything over a small trailer that weighs 3500 # or so, you're much better of in a Tundra. I'll bite my tongue on the Ford and the Chevy although older Chevys built between 1999 and 2006 were amazing! The reason I say those who tow are better off in a Tundra is that the Tundra is an actual truck with big robust truck parts and it was built for towing and towing often. If you're consistently towing in the Ridgeline, you're going to break something like a transmission or a motor pretty quick. Let me be clear and replete myself in that the Ridgeline is still an amazing vehicle but it's more car than truck. If you're occasionally bring stuff home from the hardware store or pulling your aluminum bass boat, then by all means, the Ridgeline is perfect for that and it does get noticeably better fuel economy over any of the other trucks. Not "made" in Alabama. Assembled n Alabama with major components shipped in from Japan. Main problem I 've seen with those is that the power door locks die early and they're a pain to replace. Otherwise a better pickup for many people than any other choice.
People get these ridglines and baby them and brag about them. You'll never hear the truth. It's like Chevy Ford Dodge guys. They never tell you everything they replaced. The 2000-2002 vehicles seemed better across the entire carverse.
only thing to note is the engine timing belt replacement at 100K miles, if the vehicle never had it done then it absolutely needs it and will cost around 1200 to get it done right.
I wish Toyota would make their small pickup again, like the first gen trucks from the 1980s. They could probably use the Corolla chassis, I wouldn’t mind if it was front wheel drive.
My friend traded his in about a year ago for a new one. Only had 100k on it. I asked him why he traded it in, and he was like "Well, it was getting high mileage and had a little over 100k on it and was 7 years old". I about laughed because I'm like "You do realize that 100k on a Honda is nothing?" So he bought a new one -- at least he bought a Ridgeline and didn't cheap out and get a Chevy or something. Although recently he did buy a Ford Bronco (one of the new ones) which I think he will regret in a few years or when the warranty runs out (but he still has the newer Ridgeline). The Ford Maverick puzzles me. It's basically a car with a bed on the back (or an SUV if you think about it). But people are buying them and being like "I have a truck" (yeah, you do, but you're like a "wannabe" truck owner). AT least get a Ranger if you want a small truck and don't want the Toyota or Honda... at least the Ranger is built on a truck frame whereas I don't think the Maverick is or it's a less sturdy / perhaps partial frame given it's price and the size of the vehicle.

I'm liking those Pilots and Ridgelines Scotty. Well ran dry doing laundry again here in MA. 4 th time this year. primed the stupid well pump, got the water back an hour ago. hope the rain clears this drought up.
I have no problems with my ridge line. In general it's been a pretty good product I haven't had issues with my Honda too much just your typical wearing tear
I have always liked the Honda Ridgeline, but wow they were just out of our budget new. I got a regular cab F150 that year, and still have it---that's a great truck too. The Hondas are good vehicles ---we've owned an Accord, great car. It had over 220,000 miles when we sold it to a college kid. He got another 100,000 out of it!!
I'm definitely looking for a Honda Ridgeline between 2011 and 2014 you gave great advice is it all wheel drive or four wheel drive or front wheel drive and what is the best mileage to buy up to thank you
I have mentioned to you Scotty in the past, that i own an 06 and 14 Ridgeline with 517,000 & 264,000 km. These trucks as well as my friends, are all bullet proof. You slandered them a couple years ago, now you finally see the light! What gives?? From T.O....
You do realize this is the 1st Generation Ridgeline 2006-2014. It start development in 2001. The process to make a unibody pickup truck came a long way with years. The flying buttress I assume you are referring to. The 2nd Generation Ridgeline 2017-2023 bed is fairly normal its shallow but the truck is wider than Tacoma,Ranger,Frontier and GM twins Colorado Canyon. Remember that Ridgeline has a lockable watertight in-bed trunk with drain plug underneath its bed. You can cram an adult body inside of it. But I carry luggage or ice chest valuables.
I remember a couple years back your saying that Honda's big vehicles (their truck, SUVs and minivan in particular) had problems with their transmissions. Is that still the case? Or is it a matter of you can get such a great deal on a used Ridgeline that the money you're going to have to drop into a new transmission later is still worth it? On the towing front, I'm assuming a Ridgeline would be adequate for towing a boat and a small camper? I've been looking at an F150 and a Tundra but I live in Honda town so there's a certain appeal to the Ridgeline.
I have a 2009 Hyundai sonata it's a nice car. It has never given me many problems at all it just has one annoying thing that no mechanic can figure out. My cam position sensor keeps tripping the check engine light. I have replaced both, I have replaced the map sensor. Another sensor. Still there. It comes on for a week or so then go's off then comes back on. Been doing it now 2 years or so. I have found I can actually get it stay off for quite a long time if I run 89 gas instead of 87 in the damn thing. Also seems to have an evap issue lately that comes and goes. This car is very temperamental. It doesn't know whether it's sick or not.
I make it a habit to change those cv joints both. Even if only one is bad. Same thing for wheel bering. Rotors so on so forth. If it's time for one to go the other one will be getting all the pressure and will grout shortly after. At least the last the last 3 cars my wife has destroyed lol.
You did a video three years ago talking about how the Honda ridgeline was not a good truck. Have you changed your thoughts? I’ve actually been considering buying one
I have a 2015 Honda Pilot EXL. I noticed a thumb sound when turning the wheel.i heard it more on the driver side. I also checked the suspension, and it looks ok. Need help, or did anyone experience this sound? Would appreciate thank you.
ROFL , That's not a truck . It's like calling a Chihuahua a dog , the Honda is a truck-ette . While the Honda is very well built and durable it's no more a truck than an Explorer Sport-Trac was.

I'm liking those Pilots and Ridgelines Scotty. Well ran dry doing laundry again here in MA. 4 th time this year. primed the stupid well pump, got the water back an hour ago. hope the rain clears this drought up.
My dad has one with 450 k that’s insane he loves he’s truck
Good to see you're in the passenger seat instead of driving and playing with your camera
'bout time you covered a Honda Ridgeline. Just like Toyotas, they retain their value. Just look after the bloody things. It's not hard to do.
Just watched one from a month or so ago.
I have no problems with my ridge line. In general it's been a pretty good product I haven't had issues with my Honda too much just your typical wearing tear
I can't keep up with his recommendations about whether to get OEM or aftermarket parts. They seem to change on every video.
It depends on the part itself.
Best review I’ve seen 😂 awesome
I get everything suspension or CV axles from Detroit axle. USA baby!
What are your thoughts on the 2018 - 2023 Honda Ridgeline?
Which year would you say it the best
I have always liked the Honda Ridgeline, but wow they were just out of our budget new. I got a regular cab F150 that year, and still have it---that's a great truck too. The Hondas are good vehicles ---we've owned an Accord, great car. It had over 220,000 miles when we sold it to a college kid. He got another 100,000 out of it!!
Which year was the Accord? 4 cilinder?
@@oscaralbertogramillorocha6237 2002 4 cylinder. It was purchased used as well!
Own an 2007 RTL. 135K. Bulletproof. I baby it. In paint shop right now. It was made B.O.
"Deep dish Chicago pizza doesn't weight that much" LMAO. Love these videos. Learn & laugh! 😂
I was wondering how much the Guinness World Record largest deep dish pizza weighed. :D
I would love one of these Honda Pickups but my 2800 pound Elkhorn Cabover Camper would smash it into a pancake!
I'm definitely looking for a Honda Ridgeline between 2011 and 2014 you gave great advice is it all wheel drive or four wheel drive or front wheel drive and what is the best mileage to buy up to thank you
I'm so old that I have trouble calling these suv's trucks. I own a 1970 full size F100 and would never trade it for any of these modern "trucks".
I really want a ridgeline, but I am waiting for a hybrid version with ecvt with better gas mileage.
What do you think of the new Ridgelines Scotty? (17-23)
Has s rubba timing belt haha only issue i hear is distance warning is finicky
The mid 2010s Honda Ridgelines are at minimum $21,000 on the used market.
Brotherinlaw had a 2007 with 660000 kilometers on it when he sold it .
I was going to buy 1 of these but ended up buying a Tundra...dont regret it at all😎
Scotty, where is this? I know it's not Oklahoma, but the scenery sure looks like the area in and around OKC.
I have mentioned to you Scotty in the past, that i own an 06 and 14 Ridgeline with 517,000 & 264,000 km. These trucks as well as my friends, are all bullet proof. You slandered them a couple years ago, now you finally see the light! What gives?? From T.O....
Loved the picture of the traffic cone fancy cold air intake!!! LOL!!!
If the ridgeline bed didn’t look like that and made it slick like how the maverick looks I wouldn’t mind buying it
You do realize this is the 1st Generation Ridgeline 2006-2014.
I like them, also, especially the body style! The new one looks boxy, in my opinion, and I don't care for that at all.
If you don’t like the noise just turn the radio up ⬆️ 😊
Thank you sir 👍
I hear the 06 Ridgelines have an issue with the engine cylinder 4. Is the right or wrong?
With good care Can I expect an 06 to go 300k miles?
No six passenger option like my F-150 means it's not an option for me... I do love Honda though, My S2000 and Civic Si have been great!
Good day Scotty!
hello!
I thought TDC (top-dead-center) had to do with the timing of the engine, not the distributor....?
I make it a habit to change those cv joints both. Even if only one is bad. Same thing for wheel bering. Rotors so on so forth. If it's time for one to go the other one will be getting all the pressure and will grout shortly after. At least the last the last 3 cars my wife has destroyed lol.
This truck is what 95% of men need for their weekend trips to the grocery stores & Starbucks with the family
I like that GM emblem. There's something familiar about it.
the insurance on my 2010 silverado 1500 is 4k cad a yr and by tmr i should drop it by 2k
You did a video three years ago talking about how the Honda ridgeline was not a good truck. Have you changed your thoughts? I’ve actually been considering buying one
76,000 miles damn thats new for these
Though the axle issue makes me think it might not be actual mileage
I have a 2015 Honda Pilot EXL. I noticed a thumb sound when turning the wheel.i heard it more on the driver side. I also checked the suspension, and it looks ok.
Need help, or did anyone experience this sound?
Would appreciate thank you.
Have a good day uncle Scotty
thanks you too!
would you buy a 2005 Tacoma or a 2011 Ridgeline?
What year is this Ridgeline?
Bloody awesome wish we had them in the uk 👍🏻😉
FYI yall it’s nearly 7k to replace the transmission
Can we please have a Scotty for motorcycles as well???
Waving hands for the driver might be a problem.
I never have to pass a Ridgeline on the interstate. I'm always passing F150's.
@@andybales7318 and don’t forget f150 are rated #1 for buyer’s remorse when it breaks down 😂
Ridgelines are all awd. It's funny how people laugh at Ridgelines and drool over an Forrester with less than 200 hp.
Same engine as the Honda pilot
My Toyota Tundra double cab with only 135,000 miles was only $6800. And that was in 2018.
Except its not a truck its listed as a car in collision repair and the bedsides are listed as quarter panels its a modified Honda Pilot
ROFL , That's not a truck . It's like calling a Chihuahua a dog , the Honda is a truck-ette . While the Honda is very well built and durable it's no more a truck than an Explorer Sport-Trac was.
Great video like the way you explain about vehicles
Is the timing belt mandatory? I heard of people driving them to 250k with no issues
That is pushing it big time.
I would not chance it. My 2008 has 300K and its been changed every 90-100K
@@anthonygreco12Have you ever had a valve adjustment on your ridgeline?
