  • Waiting for signs of labor is like...
    Holy crap The last few weeks of pregnancy are BRUTAL (and a total trip). Everything feels like a sign, you've googled "how to induce labor" 100x hoping you find a new secret you haven't tried.
    Everyone is checking in on you to see if you've had the baby yet. But I swear for me, I've needed the full 40 weeks to full try and comprehend and even mentally prepare for what's about to happen. Knowing full well I have no facking clue what is coming having 2 children.
    Waiting for labor signs are weird because you're just waiting for this huge monumental day that you don't know when will ACTUALLY happen or HOW it will go down! AND all of the signs of labor COULD be it... or maybe not.

    The water breaking comment made my giggle. My water broke with no contractions, and that kicked off 40 hours of labor ending in a C-section. She was not coming out lol! But hear me mamas- it was still the most amazing and wonderful experience of my life and I would do it again in a heartbeat!! Good luck everyone!!

    I FEEL you on this. The more I learn about signs of labor the more annoyed I get because it doesn't mean ANYTHING. I'm 41 weeks and 3 days and soooooo done. Gonna get induced at 42 weeks if this baby doesn't come soon. Trying to stay positive and open to however this baby needs to come into the world. So hard to stay sane right now. Lol. Pray for me? 😅
    Also, great video! Always love them!

    • @eleeyahhoutz1038
      @eleeyahhoutz1038 Год назад +3

      @@DanceAddikt It actually went great! I did get induced which I initially felt really anxious about but then just decided to let that go and have peace. It was really intense and I had the stereotypical pit contractions. 😩 But it was good. Baby was 9 and a half pounds born vaginally and I didn't get an epidural. Now it's all in the past and I wouldn't want it any other way.

    Lol you are hilarious and I completely relate to this!! 😂 I’m 37 weeks with my second and I feel insane looking up all the “signs” and wondering if everything means I’m going into labor…and then nothing happens. These last few weeks have been the most frustrating and funny time of my life…

  • @erinjanzen9931
    @erinjanzen9931 2 года назад +7

    As someone who made it to 42 weeks, I can absolutely relate! I also did hypnobirthing and didn't want to get induced, so my brain was constantly flip-flopping between the hypno side of things ("just relax, it'll happen when it's supposed to happen"), and the normal anxious mom side of things lol, which is everything you described. Tried everything possible to get baby out on his own but ended up getting induced at 42 weeks exactly. I'm now pregnant with my second and hoping I can experience a natural start this time!

    in the same boat rn with the waiting game and needed this video so much!! so validating to know I’m not alone in losing my mind over being out of control of when baby will come! this is my first and I’m so ready to meet him and to not be pregnant anymore 🤣
    also I JUST had that same anxiety spiral this week of googling what to do if you aren’t going to make it to the hospital & have to give birth in the car.
    thank you so much for sharing! I love that we are all in this together!

    • @morganunraveled

      omg yes, that conflicting thought you mentioned at the end of “I want this baby to come now” and “if labor started rn I would be way too tired” 🤣

    • @simpleandhealthymama
      @simpleandhealthymama 2 года назад

      You've got this!! Waiting is SO hard. Oddly I was kinda hoping to have my baby in the car because I was trying for a VBAC and knew that the doctors would only let me labor for so long so I thought if I showed up at the last possible second or even too late, that might be better. Crazy. Or maybe not.
      I had a friend have her baby in the car. They pulled over, out popped baby. They called 911. Everyone was okay.
      I had another friend have a baby in the hospital lobby. A stranger who was bringing his wife a pillow stopped and helped. Everyone was okay.
      You really just never know how it's going to go. But then you'll get to meet him! Good luck!! Make sure to smell him a lot. Newborns smell so good.

    4 months postpartum with my second...but I remember how hard the waiting was so I had to watch this video. My kiddo was born on Dec. 25th. On the 24th I woke up with an extreme need to get more food in the fridge. I spent the whole day grocery shopping and meal prepping with my 5 year old. The whole day...and then made brownies in the evening. This was more energy spent in one day than I'd had in MONTHS, so I thought something was up. Sure enough, 2am, water broke. 11:10 pm, baby was born.
    I don't remember anything like this happening with my first, but with her I was still plenty energetic and actually sleeping all night, etc. so maybe it did but the difference wasn't as noticeable.

    This all sounds so familiar! I’m at 38+4 weeks with our first baby and every tiny cramp I feel makes me wonder whether or not I’ll go into labour. I’m such a control freak and not knowing when it’ll happen is quite an issue for me. I wish there was a way to figure out when it’ll start.
    Can’t wait to meet my baby!
    Wishing everyone who’s waiting for their labour to start all the best and lots of strength!

    This is literally my life right now! Currently 39+3 with my 2nd and have recently decided that doctors know nothing about pregnancy 😂. Everything is a sign but it also means nothing! But that doesn’t stop me from searching random “symptoms” at 3AM or wondering if the tiniest sensation means labor is starting… It’s nuts knowing that doctors have no idea how, why or when labor starts but there’s a new ED med on the market almost every year 🤦‍♀️

    I had my first baby three months ago, and gave birth at exactly 39 weeks. I so wasn’t expecting it, so I didn’t have that much anticipation yet, as I thought I still had time as a FTM. For baby number two, within a few years, I will totally be anticipating it earlier.

    I am kinda at the same stage as you and I LAUGHED SO HARD because it is INSANELY & INTENSELY relatable, THANK YOU!!! I am experiencing all of it, some same, some a bit different. No hunger, no space, then I want a huge gross greasy breakfast and I eat it WHOLE and I don't know how it all fit in. Nausea, heart burn, then nothing for days. Thirst like I want to drink the ocean, then no space to actually fit the water. Period cramps but it may be upset tummy from what I am eating?? Baby moves a ton some days, like she wants out already and she means it, husband jokes that she is trying hard to find the exit (Down lower, down lower!!), then she nozzles in sometimes into my pelvis while I am on a walk and hits nerves and I bend from the discomfort cause it's like a ghost punches you in the crotch, and I keep wondering if they're contractions too? First timer, I wouldn't know. Baby then is calm some hours and I start to worry but then she's like "no, still here yo" and I'm like AH THANK GOD. I THINK I lost my mucus plug slowly over the past month, but WHO KNOWS. I keep telling myself "Chill, don't be anxious" but I am just all anxious inside and I have all this very same buncha' symptoms that mean nothing and nothing is actually happening and I am 40 weeks in 2 days. I am reading Ina May's Spiritual Midwifery and it's a really soothing book. She had a baby 10 days late at some point and that calms me down, but it's still scary, like, the longer time passes the bigger that little head is gonna get and the harder it'll be to deliver - and I am aiming for a natural birth, but let's see how it goes. ALL THE BEST TO YOU :D

And some of them were bad, like I went to the grocery store and when I was in the parking lot I had the worst contraction and I left and went home because I was convinced I was about to have my baby. But I ended up going to 42 weeks and took 2oz castor oil so I could still have a home birth and not have a hospital induction. It worked like a charm and he was born in 5 hrs.

I had contractions that make me think the baby could have come 3 weeks earlier that eased off I stayed home went to hospital five minutes away had same contractions in car and hall of hospital didn't think anything about it. Water broke as i changed into my gown by myself. husband was down stairs had the baby right then with out husband around. Thought I had more time all the signs were so spread out by days and up to a month. This second pregnancy birth just happened on its own by the way the Dr was running from the parking lot got there in time to catch the baby.

    Happy to be out of this phase. I was soooo worried all the time. I remember I did some birth ball execise the days leading up to labour. One day it felt painful doing this. So I decided to just sit on the couch, watch TV and relax. That evening I went into labour. And things happened fast! I never saw my mucus plug and I wasn't dilated before. It just happened all at once and now I am having this baby and it's still crazy to me how that happened. 😅

      Congrats! Have you been looking into hypnobirthing? It really helped me as i used to be terrified to the point where i was considering just not having kids. I went into lanor naturally and calm and in control :)

    I never got to this stage- I gave birth at 38+1 but I was convinced she would come late (I was thinking 42weeks!) so I was pottering around at home, had only just finished work for my mat leave lol. I wasn’t done being pregnant at all!

    I am seeing a midwife for my first pregnancy. I'm at 34 weeks. I asked her when do they check my cervix for dilation and she said they won't before I go into labor. then maybe once or twice while I'm at the hospital, if I want. they are so hands off I love it.

    With my two sons I had them both at 38weeks and some days. So when I went 40 weeks and 5 days with my girl I was so ready to be done! Lol
    I ate a whole pineapple, I did the breast pump method and clary sage oil.
    I rubbed the clary sage with olive oil on my belly and I put some on a cloth to smell throughout the evening. Then about two hour later labor started and she was born after four hours of labor.
    I was desperate because I was scheduled for an induction at 41 weeks. Thankfully I didn’t have to have an induction, I had one with my first son, which wasn’t ideal. Hang in there though, you are almost done!

    My mucus plug came out a few days ago, I lose more bit by bit every day lol. I’m 37 weeks and 4 days. I’ve had Braxton hicks since September, they intensified or started feeling crampy recently but they aren’t consistent. I have the poops! No one tells you about that 😂 I’m dilated to a 1, which my aunt in law likes to brag about how she was at a 3 when she was 36 weeks lol. End of pregnancy is a mind game but I’ve come to a similar conclusion: until I am in full blown no doubts about it labor, I’m done symptom obsessing. I don’t want to know where my cervix is at with dilation until THE DAY I’m just done with it all. I’ll be 38 weeks this Friday, FTM here.

    The water breaking thing is so true! I thought I had peed myself a bit until it kept coming out. lol. And I still had to get Pitocin. Now I'm going for my second scheduled cesarean (3rd overall). It's so much easier knowing a specific date like that. Although since it's my third pregnancy, I'm worried about going into labor early and having to have another "emergency" cesarean. Keep fingers crossed for me ya'll! lol

    Yup. You summed it up. You have no idea when baby is coming or how long it'll take for the grand exit. It's a lesson in parenting right there. You can plan all you want, but you can only control what you can control -- and in birth that's often not much.
    Never saw my mucus plug with the first and it came out in the tub with the second. My super helpful husband's response was asking if I'd pooped in the tub while I'm in labor. 😆 First of all, nope. Second of all, even if I did, that's not even a tiny concern when you feel like the devil is clawing your spine from the inside.

    Yep, I lots my mucus plug and had bloody show 25 days before my first was born.
    And then with my second I had really consistent contractions that I thought for sure were labor, my husband took of work and everything, and then they stopped for a week.

    I was 39+1 weeks when my waters broke randomly at Holy Thursday Mass when I was singing in the choir. Thankfully it wasn't a huge gush, just little trickles. Started labour soon after and gave birth the next day on Good Friday! Saw mucus plug maybe a week before, no other real signs.

    34 weeks pregnant with my second.. my first is only ten months soon to be 11 in a week lol. I’m not sure if it’s cause it’s my second and they’re close together but I’m already feeling super uncomfortable, can barely sleep and insanely huge. Like this baby feels just as big as my first at 39 weeks. I’m just like, how can you continue to grow!!? But apparently she’s at a normal size for how far along I am ( yea ok ) anyway love your videos, I’m striving for a natural unmedicated birth this time around. My first labor was fast and smooth, so I’m just anxious to see how this time around will go.

    I waited for all the things. They checked all the things. Nothing Nothing NOTHING! I started getting mildly depressed of the waiting and late pregnancy misery. The doctor got antsy too and sent me for an ultrasound. They basically tell me she's huge and not fitting into my pelvis. After much deliberation, we opt for a cesarean. The day I go in for pre-op, I notice these little pulses in my belly. According to the nurse, they're contractions. 😳 So.....yeah I had her that night. The end lol

    At 39 weeks with my second baby I knew I was going to into labor before 40 weeks. My body was so tired, I was sleeping and resting a lot more than usual, and I just had that gut feeling. I had no other signs but those listed. I had my baby at 39 +5!
    And second babies come FAST!! So definitely head to your birth location sooner than you think you need to! I almost didn’t make it to the hospital 😅

    This is my third and I'm just in the 2nd trimester. My first...my water broke on the due date and then crazy labor started right away. My second I lost the mucus plug at 35 weeks and labor started at 36w 6d. But I just didn't feel well that day. Like kinda crampy but slept and it kept waking me up. Went to the hospital and ended up with a big ol preemie. You're right. All labor is different and you can't be sure until you're contracting regularly. How fun. Lol

    I started experiencing lightning crotch (baby hitting those nerves) at maybe 32 weeks. It's getting stronger and more frequent. I'm currently 35 weeks. Also don't have a huge appetite. Nesting has been on and off. I relate to you on a lot of this despite you being a month ahead. So unless I end up having a premature baby, it seems these "signs of labor" are definitely unreliable and vary by pregnancy a lot lol.
