    This really helped me support my wife during her labor. She labored for 33 hours and was pushing for 3. The baby was sunny side up and she was about to give up and what I learned in this video helped me keep her centered and focused. Thank you very much for the great advice

    These are my notes in Spanish in case youre partners don't speak English

    I am 2 months pregnant with my first baby. When my boyfriend and I first met he had mentioned to me that he did not want to have kids and if that was something I wanted then we wouldn't work. At the time I didnt want to have children either so 7 years later (2 months ago) when I found out I was pregnant you can imagine that I was scared to tell my boyfriend. Surprisingly though 7 years being together has made our love for each other incredibly strong so when I finally got the courage to tell him I was pregnant he instantly got to work on cleaning out our spare bedroom and talking about things we need to do to get ready for our baby. He has been completely understanding caring and loving. He has watched your video and sent this to me which made me love him so much more (which I didnt even know was possible because I love him more then anything in the world) you're videos has helped us and helped him support me better which has made me so much more excited for our baby rather then scared when I first found out. Thank you so much for these informational videos we love watching them! Thank you for everything you do! 😍💙💙💙💙

    Another tip for the birth parter is : use the love you share for each other. Love can help her feel supported, and it can help trigger the love hormone, Oxytocin, which will help labour progress. When Mamma feels relaxed and supported she will release more Endorphins, nature’s pain killers!

    As someone that experienced obstetric violence with my previous labor, if I don't feel safe in my surroundings I don't need to be smothered with cuddles. I need my support person to advocate for my right to evidenced based care and informed consent

    • @alyupde9337
      @alyupde9337 3 года назад +11

      If you’re going natural and have the ability, I would suggest looking into maybe touring birthing centers not hospital birthing center but birthing centers. I have personally experienced more personalized care with greater attention to what was going on, ways to help, my health and nutrition, what’s going on with baby, and consent. They want so much consent it makes me chuckle, literally. “I need to get your pulse. Can I touch your arm?” It makes me chuckle every time. Even my leg cramps. My OBGYN would say that’s apart of pregnancy when I told them. My midwife, asked me if I’m having them then told me I need more magnesium. I started taking that, they went away instantly. I could go on with examples. If you can, you may want to look into midwifery care and birthing centers.

    I had a euphoric medication free birth earlier today and our 2nd daughter arrived safe and sound. Thank you for your guidance! I made my partner watch this video with me today. Turns out I didn't need him to do most of the things you suggest but it actually helped me recognise the stages when I was going through them! Can I add one more thing?
    Partner's take the lead. Take inciative. For example, if she's hungry, don't ask her what she wants 'always' just make her something she likes. THINK. As with other things - in that 8th month mark and after. It gets exhausting making decisions so make some executive ones and be open to feedback.
    From a woman who is in here 8th month, healthy and taking care of business - to my partner and other men out there, with love.

      The most important thing is to follow her cues, and have really thick skin. Try to anticipate her basic needs like food and drink and rest, and bring them before she asks. And then just validate every single feeling she has. You have no opinions during her labor, you’re just there to support her. Be an expert on what she wants in her birth plan, and be the gatekeeper for her, advocating everything on her behalf. In this protecting and serving her, she will be able to concentrate on birthing, instead of feeling uncared for, unprotected, and therefore fear and anxiety, which can stop the birth.

      I'm sorry to hear that. My partner sent this to me and I've got it playing while I'm working. I think it's incredibly inconsiderable and honestly concerning that he isn't willing to spend 20 minutes on something this important. That's definitely a red flag for potential disinterest in the actual birthing room and postpartum

    • @TailerAnn
      @TailerAnn 5 лет назад +17

      Pharmacy technician here, fentanyl is actually the main pain medication in epidurals as well. It is one of the only safe opioids to take during pregnancy.

    I'm trying to support my girlfriend whose In her third trimester but I have been told by her that I am not doing enough. I'm trying to work more because she can't work, I'm listening to podcasts and watching RUclips, I'm cleaning and cooking and sleeping on the couch. But because I can't get off work for a prenatal class made everything blow up. I don't know what to do but I'm burnt out and feel low. I ask every day if she drinks enough water or make sure she eats but now I'm being told I don't do anything. I'm so lost and dead.

    Is Doula a midwife?

    • @shelby814
      @shelby814 4 года назад +4

      No. I have a certified nurse midwife (CNM) who does my prenatal check ups. My CNM replaced my OBGYN by choice bc I am considered a low risk pregnancy. A CNM is most similar to a doctor and goes thru rigorous state certified testing. A doula has no state or federal certifications but can provide a wealth of knowledge to help mom and the birthing process.

      Doulas are there for physical and emotional support, not medical.

    So I got a taste of how bad contractions can be even though I got sent back home. Yeah, no. There is no love language that could make me do this naturally . No amount of support that would make me enjoy this experience naturally - it’s sadistic. I COMMEND the ones who do it naturally but IT IS NOT FOR ME! And I’ve tried a lot of things, the last thing I will try is eating dates and pineapple to help the cervix but 🤷🏻‍♀️ This back pain is out of this world and I am 40 weeks and 4 days. I’ll be getting induced this Friday night 🙏🏼

      Mostly because it's very important and encouraged to have one. A birth partner doesn't have to be your childs father, it can be a friend, or your mom, someone you really trust. No one should give birth/ labor alone.

    I don't want my partner to see any part of this process with bodily fluids. I'm also scared that if he sees a baby come out he won't be able to think of me in a sexual way. That's really important to me and feeling safe in our relationship. So, I'm looking for a doula.
