I can confirm the MD-80 being the most powerful. It blew all my friends into the water and I was barely able to hang onto the fence. Probably helped that the plane sat there for several seconds with full blast engines before it started moving. I did have jet exhaust burps for the next hour. Don’t think these videos on it do it as much justice as what I experienced and saw
I had a vision of the entire fence breaking loose with a hundred hangers on doing a backward somersault into the sea with the barbed wire top decapitating everyone on the beach as they went! (It was funny at the time!)
I work at an airport, and jet blast is serious as you can see. We were taught NEVER get behind a jet getting ready to move, it could blow your windows out and cause damage to your eyes from glass. I wanna go & check this out though. 😁
It's a pity we never dropped in here in one of our RAF VC10's, similar engine configuration except it had four Rolls Royce Conways giving a total of about 70,000 lbs of thrust.
Nahh.... They should try standing behind something with a Trent 1000 or GenX swinging from the wings, those engines are a little larger and shift a shit tonn more air through them.
I suggest you try and find a video of the DC10 with an engine high up in the tail. I used to see that quite often in 1988 when I worked there. Very impressive blast reaching far back on the beach because of the high position on the plane. Mainly KLM used to fly those on SxM. Of course not a lot of cams out there at the time, but very unique if you could find one.
Вспоминается песня группы "Сектор Газа" - Ява Раз подругу посадил на мотоцикл - У нее от страха прекратился цикл. Платье ветром сдуло, обнажился срам, И затычки разлетелись по кустам.
I really hope noone will ever get seriously injured. We all know, tourists, pilots, airport, St. Maarten's government... That this is a major, huge selling point for the island!
I experienced this while working at the airport and my helmet was about to fly!! I didn't like what I was inhaling, it was uncomfortable. Love from Kenya.
Great, they really love it, they have fun, in St.Maarten airport, and here in Curacao the ships and tanks enter and going near by just being in downtown!🥰👍!
Orient beach (French-side) or the "stash" beach where Le Sand beach bar "use to be" before hurricane Irma.... if you can actually ride, Tintemarre Island windward-side to catch Big-Air.... no kiting at Maho (Airport.. obvious with jets landing).
The larger jets especially the 330,340, and 747-400 would have placed higher or won if they had held their brakes and run the power up like the S 80 did.
I have never seen , the smallest area of potentially disastrous consequences ,such as this !!! And it all still fun and games untill disastor really does strikes !!!!!
The perfect activity for people concerned they may be too drunk to notice the next day how bad a sunburn they really had. Best to just take it off and start over.
Looking at how packed it is with people this would be a destination I would avoid like the plague! There is definitely to many people and To me that’s not a vacation!
That small beach is where people go to see the planes and get jet blasted. Thats why it's so busy. There are others near by that are not so busy. . I have done it, its great!! The power of those jet's is incredible !
*im here to join all the millions of viewer to watch the upskirt.*
I was there 2 years ago and got some great landings and takeoffs. "WICKED" holiday. Nice bar at the end of the beach..

I can only confirm that too, when I stood behind the MD80 at the fence I could hardly hold myself.
Maho beach is thebest
A special thanks to the maintenance men who installed one mighty strong fence.
And a special thanks to the manufacturers who created the fence.
if the fence blocked the wind, it would land in your face
not only that it withstands the jet-blast but all the people hanging on it are the bigger load.
I had a vision of the entire fence breaking loose with a hundred hangers on doing a backward somersault into the sea with the barbed wire top decapitating everyone on the beach as they went! (It was funny at the time!)
"I'm gonna stand in the crazy powerful jet blast"
"Hey, my hat blew off! Didn't expect that!"
what a surprise
my pants blew off .
@@gazzertrn Hahahahahaha
I see the "Do not stand here" warning signs are very effective !

The BEAST, that says it all! That woman at the end was tumbling around like a tumbleweed 😂!
THAT WAS A BLAST!!!👽👽
6:36 love that spool up!😎
I made it behind the MD80 en 2012.
I would never be stupid to stay behind any other plane let alone the big ones.
(Miss my buddy Ilonka Heisterkamp)
The MD80 has both its engines close together plus the plane is low to the ground so it's like one gigantic engine shooting 40000 lbs of thrust.
Also worth noting is the fact that the engines are located towards the tail and not on the wings....putting them significantly closer to the fence.
It's a pity we never dropped in here in one of our RAF VC10's, similar engine configuration except it had four Rolls Royce Conways giving a total of about 70,000 lbs of thrust.
Not only that, the pilot went to take off power before releasing the brakes for max take off performance.
Damn! 😂 😂 Them thrusters for the last plane!! 😂 😂 The beast indeed!
Yep those older lower aspect ratio engines put out a concentrated burst of exhaust, they also are the loudest
Those MD planes have JT 8 engines. I used to overhaul those enhines.
@@nafnaf0 they didn't have pregreased high speed exhaust ball bearings developed yet.
That inlet of water behind where everyone stands will forever be known as the _Bay of Hats._
I'll bet the secondhand hat dealer down the beach does really good business, often selling the same hat several times.
amazing footage, I felt like i was there, thank you for sharing this video and experiences
Thank you, you're welcome
People are happy, enjoying the beach and the airplanes,
The beast super Aufnahmen Danke für die schöne bilder ✈🛫❤
Danke für das Lob! und immer wieder gerne
🛫🛬✈😴Good Night..
If I was an optometrist I'd be passing out business cards
Can you imagine doing this with the old Vulcan Bomber on a scramble take off!
It should be interesting to see people ears aptitude before and after this incredible experience 😎
I've been to the island 5 times. I have never had the desire to play with planes. It looks like fun....for others.
Fafa😜
Excellent video!
The best video I have ever seen with a very informative commentary!
Thanks a lot!!
Thank you very much for this comment and for your praise.

Really fantastic place.
wow. That was the funniest part , the number one.
I miss St.Martin
The last one has some thrust great 👍🇬🇧
Just feel a moment (sensation)
Love to see the effects of a C-17 Globemaster there
Nahh.... They should try standing behind something with a Trent 1000 or GenX swinging from the wings, those engines are a little larger and shift a shit tonn more air through them.
Would be funny to see an F16 or F22 😂
Madness but thoroughly enjoyable and found the ocean worse than any jet blast on a really rough day.

Really that's marvelous to watch and very interesting, really those are the sweetest and the spectacular moments, I like that
I did this at maho bay 6/25/2013. it was FUN!!!
Only place in the world one can experience this ...
Also on the island of skythios's in Greece
a holiday in St.Marteen is not about sun bathing on the beach but being photographed whit airplanes

Bring back the beast!
I wonder what the pilots are really thinking when they see all these people behind the fence
They were waving, you can see them as the plane sharply turns
I experienced this while working at the airport and my helmet was about to fly!! I didn't like what I was inhaling, it was uncomfortable. Love from Kenya.
Great video
Thank you
great summary
Thank you for your praise, I also had 350 GB of video material from SXM available
Wonder how would that look with full afterburner..?
Skeletons still hanging onto the fence.
Well we now know which airlines have friendly pilots (the ones waving) which probably extends to the rest of the crew 🧡
Here's one for you, How often do they have to replace that chain link fence 😳
Wow MD-80 is No.1 ?? Amazing!!!!
Yes it is amazing

They need to try this with the space shuttle. I'd pay to watch that
I'd like to see the Concorde do this,, it would probably blow away the fence! lol
Space shuttle doesn’t have jet blast, it’s a glider…
