  • Alan shows you how he rolls a wall with no lines. Do not press on roller. Also PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR MY SQUEAKY ROLLER. It's a brand new roller I used once and it's squeaks already. Sorry

    That’s how it’s done all except for the homeowner type roller pan
    I always use a five gallon bucket that’s how journeyman painters taught me to do it

    When I paint with Satin I get some dry particles of paint on the wall so I have to remove them with my finger...etc. Do you have any tips to avoid this to happen? By the way I like the sheen of Satin but it is hard to paint with a roller without leaving any lines. It looks ok but it's not perfect. Flat paint is a lot easier to paint without lines.

    You make it look easy. I did exactly what you did today and put a lot of pain on it and still got roller marks, am I not using enough paint? Could it be I'm going over what I painted And my rollers to dry?

    • @Maghanashi
      @Maghanashi 7 лет назад +1

      Rollers marks are either: Not laying off properly or dipping roller too far into the paint. For laying off, just use light strokes along the wet paint from top to bottom, overlaying each stroke by 50% to even the paint level. Too much paint is when it collects on the ends of the rollers from dipping too far. Use smaller, faster strokes only allowing the sleeve to hit the paint and keep the roller nice and wet.

    First - I NEVER comment on youtube videos, but your video helped me out sooo much! After watching several other videos and attempting the "W" method they all seem to tout, my walls were continuously jacked up. I just couldn't get it. I was about to give up and shell money out for a professional but decided to give it one more attempt. I came across your video and gave it a go. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Sooo helpful and my walls actually look great now! (Had to repaint all of my previous, splotchy attempts).

    Do you water your paint down? I was painting today and if I put a lot of paint on the wall and try to spread it out it starts having this thick wavy bumpy texture that I can't lay out. I had too much paint in an area especially above light switches and stuff and when I tried to take the paint back off, it creates this terrible Textture every time I roll the roller over it. I never put any pressure because it creates lines. So my question is, how do you get rid of the stop marks at the bottom and tops? It looks like you put a lot of pain on for those first two roller with so there's definitely a thick amount at the bottom that will be able to be seen

    i can tell he has a lot of time with a roller in his hand, notice how he goes from top to bottom.thats how you roll, not they way with the big W pattern that people who have no idea on what they are doing show you. he def knows how to roll a wall,,for people new to painting,lets say you are painting a 12X12 room, to cut in and roll it, 2 hours would be the time do do it, then 1 hour for the last coat,

    Nope. I have no idea who in the universe I pissed off, but I tried painting a (supposedly) simple and easy bedroom wall and ALWAYS get lines. Especially if I go back over the last few inches that I just painted. Tried 3/8" nap, 1/2" nap, brand new (not the least expensive) rollers, nothing. Must have 5 coats on it already. It is a lighter satin color so really picks this up when light is shining on it. I give up...

    This is the best video ever. Loved how you just showed us what to do and didn’t talk for a half hour first. Just wish the roller wasn’t squeaky. 😊

    If you do the trim after you paint the walls, will the trim show up more since you painted the walls first?
    Awesome video, alwow77. Thanks so much. I enjoyed your video.

    @alwow77 after you roll, how do you blend the last unrolled outside strips along the ceiling, wall corners and baseboard?
