"A sign of affection" anime has led me to finally learn ASL. I really wanted to learn this since nursing school but that time early 2000s there were not a lot resources of videos like this. Thank you. I 1st found you in skilshare. I am loving your lessons.
I watched a movie about a deaf girl. Decided to learn sign language while on vacation and I’m quite surprised how easy asl is. Anyway thanks for the videos
Koe no katachi ❌ I watched that movie a few years ago with my old friends and since I watched it, I always imagined the X over peoples faces if they wronged me or when I shut down emotionally because I just had a mental breakdown today and it drains so much of my energy that I came here. I have been wanting to learn ASL for a long time but I’m not American nor living in America. Yet I feel called to this one instead of my original language. I can tell you, focusing on this and learning how to speak when I verbally cannot speak means so much for me. I hope that I will learn a lot and I will learn enough to cover myself but hopefully also to help ppl out when necessary altho I’m not really expecting that here bc I’m not living in America but I hope I can share it in the future with the people that I love when it is necessary and I hope they will understand me and love me unconditionally ❤
Love this. Sending to my Mom who has some interest in getting started! Great video, Meredith. Oh, and I watch both your videos and Bill Vicars videos all the time!
I love your channel through it I have learned a lot of ASL I did LSG for 3 years I have to learn English now, then I want to get certified somewhere here in LA but for now you help me a lot. In my community I have a school nearby approved by LAUSD ASL. I will sign up to volunteer. Thank you very much for your help❤❤❤❤❤❤
I gotta admit I kept seeing posts about the parameters but didn't understand what they were talking about. I just started my ASL learning journey. Now that I have a clear explanation I gotta say it feels like learning kanji. Lots of similar characters but change a stroke and it's totally different.
I am so thankful for your videos! I have learned so much from you. I am the mom of a profoundly deaf child. I am trying to teach him ASL as well as learn ASL myself. I loves all of your videos however they all seem to be made for hearing people who want to learn ASL. I was wondering if you would ever consider creating some videos for deaf children? I noticed in your videos that the introduction is always verbal for the first few minutes with little to no sign language. That's great and exactly what I need but when I share your videos with my son he sets waiting patiently until the signing starts as he is not reading yet except simple sight words. Just tossing out ideas. Maybe a video with the sight words , weather, seasons, days of week, months of the year, etc
So I don't know anyone who is deaf or knows asl, but I think it would be a valuable tool to have. So my practice will just be me by myself, what would you recommend me to do for better practice?
OMG! I want to learn ASL! I’m sign language interpreter in my church here in Brazil and I love it ❤ I really want to learn ASL so I can take God’s word to deaf people ❤
I work in corrections and the deaf/hard of hearing community is steadily growing and I want to be able to communicate with them the same way I communicate with hearing offenders.
I have learn ASL for the past 7years , but without certification. I would love to enroll in any Uni in the USA, Please could you recommend such Uni's for me here? ❤
There are a few online programs offered. Most notably, Gallaudet University has and online program. There are many in person programs, mostly for associates then you could transfer to a university to continue on.
While learning the sign “why”, I found out that I couldn’t move my middle finger without also moving my ring finger on my dominant hand. Is it incorrect to sign with my non dominant hand in this context?
I know only the Deaf can give sign names, but I am wondering if I am signing about a book or a movie can I make up sign names for the characters so I don't have to fingerspell their names every time?
ASL would be extremely difficult for me. I have issues with reading, and having to spell out and see other people spell out words just doesn't work well for me. I can't physically keep the words in my head long enough to read 1 word.
I feel like she did so much talking but barely taught anything. I watched this video because I know the inevitable is gonna happen within the next couple years. I just wanna learn sign language.

Sign from the beginning
I'm still doing sign language today.
My Cousin might become permanently deaf
so my dad thinks i should learn sign language
I know only the Deaf can give sign names, but I am wondering if I am signing about a book or a movie can I make up sign names for the characters so I don't have to fingerspell their names every time?
Of course, there are always instances that could happen. If possible allow the Deaf person to present that sign name for this book character.
Which hand do I use?
Right hand ✋
