    We were just talking about getting a small generator, we live in Florida and during hurricane season we see power outages. Few years ago we invested into solar and have battery power for days when we scale back certain things. But for certain things that we want to use or just to take a little strain off things, propane seems like a good option. Honestly had no idea there was 100% propane options. We had been looking on Amazon at eco friendly generators, but those are hybrid gas/propane, which I was told are no good and can be problematic. We didn't want gas (trying to stay eco friendly), which is why we didn't buy anything. So good timing on this video.

      I know people who live in Florida, that is one area you want to have some redundancy in your power setup!

    I use ethanol free gasoline which doesn’t absorb water like ethanol does and it also lasts longer, on average 6 months…I just rotate my gasoline to my vehicles, no problem👍

      Hey what kind of gas do you get, and also how do you transfer it into your vehicles? I know the old siphon with your mouth trick...but I'd rather not do that if I don't have to 🤣

    • @Zkpe02
      @Zkpe02 6 месяцев назад

      @@zombieguitar Really? The ethanol gas is stored in gas cans not in the generator. I run the generators on propane, the gas is just a backup if I run out of propane😂😂

    I feel your pain on the heat, it's been warm here too. Great video Alex. I'm one of those people who was storing my generator with fuel in it, and thought I was ready. Mine was worse though, it had been sitting for nearly 2 years and my carb was all messed up. Is that Alp have electric start like your generac?

    • @4wdTALK
      @4wdTALK  Год назад +1

      Hey Alex, welcome to the channel! Alp 1000W generator right now today is pull start. However I know they have electric prototypes in the real world. I've seen one and it's pretty awesome. As I understand this could be something we might see in 2023! But then again, it's not a big deal for me because during the last couple years of owning mine, I've never had it take more than 2 pulls to start. Actually for me, darn thing starts most of the time on the first pull.

    Im thinking with LP you'd have less oil changes & or you'd have allot less trash / particulates in the oil. Thanks for the info because I'm doing a Van Conversion-Build & in the market for a generator.

    Thanks for the video. Just bought the Honda EU3200I at $3200 on-line. Strictly LP only. The money wasn't a factor for me because I just wanted a Honda anything & because it's my first generator.

    When you run those things in parallel are you able to use off one 20lb tank with some sort of splitter?

    • @4wdTALK
      @4wdTALK  Год назад +2

      Yes that is correct, they have a splitter you can pick up and run two generators from one 20lb (or what ever) tank.

    You can top-off a gasolene generator to last a complete night of operation, but you can't top-off a propane bottle. You will want to run-off a bottle to get it re-filled at the store (fixed price per bottle). To ensure not running out mid night, you need to keep multiple bottles and keep track of how much remains in each. But if you are running off grid with a BBQ house outlet you don't need to top-off ever. You just get the big truck delivery now and then. But you will need to check the big tank now and then as you probably will use as much as the rest of the house, extra. And yes, its much cheaper and burns cleaner. Just get a model where the "demand regulator" is internal to the unit and not hanging off the side of a BBQ bottle.

    If you have a duel fuel generator and it refuses to start because gas is stale, will the generator still start with propane?
    Lots of info. Well put together video. Thanks.

    When They will bann gasoline the LPG will also wanish or will be very expensive because the LPG is a "waste" in production of diesel, gasoline, kerosyne etc....

    Just wanted to make a comment on your math 20 pound tank does not have 20 pounds of propane when purchased as an exchange it's only 15 pounds when taken down and filled at a propane place they put 4 gallons which is approximately 17 pounds of propane So in reality you're not gonna get the 60 hours out of a 20 pound tank because they base that off of 3 hours on a one pound bottle

      I thought the guy was well spoken & very editorial. The reason why he spoke as long as he did was so that the vlog wouldn't have 50 unanswered questions. Psychology 101. Look at other RUclipsrs that are too SHORT & you'll see 50-100 questions. What's this, what's that & how come??? You don't see that here at only 25 comments because his verbiage was well spoken & done in good faith / taste. RVers getting ready to spend $1,000s on a generator so information is valuable. Me? I'm a retired electrician, retired helicopter pilot, certified water walker, womanizer, chick magnet & all around good guy just like him.
