- Ever wonder just HOW much pressure a watercooling loop can handle before something catastrophically fails?? Let's just say that Alpacool Radiators perform VERY well under... PRESSURE

Horrifying. My eye can relate.
Hey Kyle
Bitwit
Not gonna lie, seeing this has actually instilled alot more confidence in me to trust water cooling more.
But only after market cooling done right like jaydoes it.
Plus he should have used a clc aio too
not me, its to critical a failure,, the potential for destroying everything in the pc is too high. water and electronics dont mix... can you do it with a non conductive liquid? that would be intelligent..
@@harleyme3163 most non conductive fluids become conductive sooner or later because of dirt and impurities.
Best thing to do is to route your tubes smartly and to do it all carefully to minimise damage in case a leak occurs.
@@harleyme3163 i had a leak on my cpu block. back of my old hd4890 became a lake, started dripping into the hdd that was upside down mounted. only noticed the leak when WoW started having strange artifacts in the 3d graphics(the UI never showed issues) after a quick unplug, a rinse with some rubbing alcohol, and 2 days of downtime in front of a fan, reassembled with no problems. didnt even lose the hdd
@@harleyme3163 if you buy pc coolant 99% of it is low conductivity only time you have to really worry is if your use distilled water only.
Man I died when the compressor ran after the explosion. You were like an on alert cat.
Compressor startles me every time when it start so I know the feeling lol ;)
Pretty sure that if I was Jay at that moment, I'd have needed new underwear.
I love how all of these computer channels (jayztwocents, pauls hardware, bitwit, linus techtips) know each other and are friends and always mention each others failures. Its hilarious and makes me go searching for videos.
Watch the roast of linus sebastian if you haven't already.
The verge isn't on that list, cause they are incapable of making a mistake
@@colinjava8447 I'm assuming youre joking and would like reassurance
MrMG43 What are you talking about? The verge is a better tech RUclipsr than any of these losers.
@@colinjava8447 i saw one of their videos and quit watching by five minutes it was so bad
I'd totally buy a panzercool radiator just for the name
Put your money where your typing is. Buy a case from Cougar's Panzer line
Actually it would be something like... Eispanzer
@@pldcanfly We tought the same name. XD
@@JoelDashReed I wanted to have a Threadripper just because of the name ;)
Wythe the craziest part is this is the top comment. Says a lot about the PC community
Jay there's definitely water in your compressor tank now, yes it was under pressure but water can still go down hill asking as air replaces it at the top. Please drain your compressor via the condensate drain plug.
This x100
This! I was thinking, why doesn't Jay just put the pump up on a higher position, that'll prevent water from getting to it...
I think he is actually fine because he had a regulator. It may have gotten in the hose, but I think it would stay on the hose side of the regulator. Not 100% sure though.
@@christopherpedersen1820
Regulators are not check valves.
Yeah right. BS.
In my job, I regularly deal with pressures over 5000PSI, so I forget just how much force is behind just 140PSI. Thanks for reminding me, Jay.
"I don't want to destroy perfectly good hardware" from the man that sprayed a GPU with a spray bottle while pretending to sneeze. Jay you are a complicated man.
He doesn't want to, but he does it for ... scientific reasons
This is also the guy who put beer into a water loop... at a hotel.
Dont forget the time jay drilled through a motherboard to mount a CPU cooler
@@diablo666morgan I just did the same to my GPU as I mounted a CPU water block to it :D
The difference between screwing around and science. You record your screw ups.
Clicked the notification while thinking "wtf did you do this time Jay"
That was top quality stuff, right there. Entertaining in the 'splosions sense, but also reassuring for anyone worried about loop pressure issues.
Retweet
Majere613 I’ve got a full custom loop myself. Paid the big bucks for quality components.
Haven’t leaked a drop of coolant as far as I can tell even when mining crypto at full bore with 2 gpus
This stuff is no joke. It can hold a LOT of pressure.
Linus: Do as I say, not as I do
Jay: sorry what?
Hmm, anyone want to give props to EKWB for reservoir and pump that survived that test only to work again without any problems? That impressed me more than the rad. Makes me a whole lot more comfortable with the two EKWB pumps and reservoirs in my system at the moment.
Jay: Your never gonna be in this situation

Well I’m broke so I don’t think I’m trying anything you do anytime soon
What was the last thing you bought

Oh yeah yeah
and a diablotek too lol
Im a third year diesel fitter going on fourth soon and Jay is still helping me learn about cooling systems and heat transfer, thank you Jay, very cool!
This isn't the Hydraulic Press Channel.
yet.
$3000 gaming PC vs Hydraulic Press would be a fun and terrifying video to watch

This had everything, explosions, fear, comedy, love of alphacool radiators, rockets. More like this please Jay!
Jay this is my favorite RUclips channel. You bring me knowledge as well as joy in every video
Haha. Your face when the compressor turned on was priceless.
That moment in the video made me jump a little too. Then I cracked up more then I have in a long time. +1 to you.

Every episode of Star Trek in 4 lines.
5:50 Its funny hearing Jay yell "Oh shit!" in slow motion without a censor :)
jay you should try this on the deep cool castle AIO's, they have a pressure release system and I'm interested to see how it holds up...
That was great, when is the next episode of "Loop Busters"
I'm loving these videos lately, first water and GPU, now this!! I need more of it!!
Ultra-hilarious. Jayz reaction when that compressor kicked on right after the pressure dropped was *_PRICELESS!_*
It’s at 140 psi how has it not expl-
*BOOSH*
😂😂😂 amazing
this was amazing, i was dying when the thing went and jay was freaking out.
Thanks for the advice.
I will definitely try next time.
Sweeeeeeeet a video from Jay this late and on a topic I've been wanting to hear about for a long time
"just don't call OSHA" - Jay 2019
and 2018
When did Jay's channel become the fun one among the tech youtubers? Seriously loving all of the content for the last few months man. Keep knocking it out of the park.
TYVM for clarify all my doubts about liquid cooling, you save me A LOT of money.
I have one of those pressure relief valves, only reason why is I noticed soft tubing getting just a little larger when gaming. I love this video...too much fun.
That slow motion killed me 😂😂😂💀
And the compressor kicking back on made me laugh out loud so hard that would be incredible to see and hear in slow motion too hahahaha
That was pretty awesome! I'm wondering if you could use a transmission oil cooler in a loop? Those radiators would be massive for a PC.
i laughed way too hard omg . phils editing makes this so much better lol
Best video yet. 10/10 would watch again!
I thought after 40psi it would blow, I am thoroughly impressed with how that system took that much compression
Yeah really. I don't think people get how much pressure 140 psi is. That's insanely overbuilt.
Hey Jay, I work for a company that does a lot of hydro-static testing on industrial and hydraulic hoses, and one huge factor in a successful test is bleeding out any air that might be lingering in the line, seeing as though air will find any little imperfection, (such as a crack, thinned/stretched lining, dry rot, etc.) and create a flawed test whilst damaging/destroying whatever product it is you're testing. Now, while I understand your situation for using an air compressor (to add pressure), I'd have to suggest trying an (almost) airless loop, in a controlled area of course, with a water source connected to a small pneumatic pump, connected to your air compressor, with a pressure gauge and a ball valve to control pressure input to insert more water pressure into the loop to achieve a more accurate test. The air pushing into the loop most likely found the smallest inconsistency in the reservoir o-ring seals, allowing water into the space, then resulting in the friction holding the seal to be loosened, hence the shaved oring. (I realize this is almost unrealistic, but eh fuck it, figured I'd try anyway.)
Yeah, well he should just use some pump with water pressuring system. I know what you're after at. I occasionally have to pressure test multistage heat exchangers in my work.
@@jothain yeah we use pneumatic pumps that force water into the hoses rather than air. We don't use electric pumps because of high exposure to water.
Or just connect the compressor to the top of the reservoir directly to the regulator, so you just control the pressure of the air on top of the water thus increasing the pressure of the water without introducing air to the rad and water to the compressor
@@noahluppe if that's possible, sure. But depending what you're pressurising it isn't always possible to do.
@@jothain I think it is possible in this specific test he did. In the end the effect is the same but without any air bubbles in the hoses or rad.
this is the best combination between a high quality video and a sh*tpost I've ever seen lol
Made me laugh so hard keep it up jay
One of the funniest videos I've seen in a while, regardless of channel. Brilliant stuff guys!
That....was epic...just as entertaining as when Kyle shot himself with a cork.
Hmmm... an idea for a JayzTwoCents Shirt, I got the Awesome Hardware 'Star Wars' one with Kyle & the Bottle
"FOR SCIENCE!!!" But THANK YOU!!! I've heard this SO many times and I was like "are you serious?" SMH. You would have to buy some seriously defective garbage off some shady site to get one that couldn't handle the MAYBE 20PSI buildup your computer could make
You look like you have sooooo much fun in that studio.. I'm envious 😊 nice vid
@JayzTwoCents I examined the footage and the radiator wasn't bent from pressure. It was fine moment before launch as well as in flight.
Bending of the compressed air inlet was most probably caused by radiator and valve slamming into ground after the test.
6:57 Don't tell "OSHA"...OMEGALOL I WONDER WHY?
*takes maching class in school*
Me: I finally understand the joke!😮
@@elijahleviste6152 Welcome to the tribe!
Alphacool definitely will be in my first liquid cooling system in the future
But make sure you know what you are doing with fittings too
And that rad is a tank
Alphacool made the Rad, the rest was all EK components.
@@askmyteapot And the EK stuff gave up first :D
I have a Eisbaer 360 in my Pc, with the same Radiator but only a bit bigger. Well, the radiator will hold..:D

yeah i would be carefull with anything out of acrylic from alphacool, so no clear parts, or use EK WB for your Blocks and Reservoir .
Compression fittings are waaay cheaper than other mounting mechanisms (but then u need to go soft tubing for sure)
That was the funniest thing I've seen from you in a while. I love the fight/flight reaction with the generator.
Kudos to AlphaCool and EK for their engineering. The panzer radiator held it like a boss and the EK pump worked again after the explosion..... Impressed
It's like Mythbusters meets Top Gear, brilliant

Jay: Don't try this at home
Me: *goes to a friend's house*
"Ask kyle" lmao
great work JAY!
I don’t even have a custom loop. But was super fun to watch. Keep the videos up💪.
Fill a cooling loop like you would a car: pull a vacuum on the cooling system, then pull the fluid in. No bleeding required and no air pockets.
is there a good way to do this without a vacuum pump?
i have thought about that also
@@cardboardpig yup. You fill a large container with water, something like a 4 gal jug and attach a hose from it's lid to your loop. On the bottom of your container you must have a valve to let the water pour out while drowning a "vacuum" and "sucking" the cooling liquid into your loop.
Basically is the same principle of a mercury vacuum pump.
A vacuum pump is any air compressor with a Venturi valve at the end. I’d love to see Jay try this! He’s a car guy too so I know he already knows how to do this.
@@michaelbauer9554 Well...tecnically any device that can make an internal negative pressure compared to the atmopheric pressure can work. it be using the venturi effect or a vacuum pump or an emptying container that drowns out the air from the loop will do it.
Jay: explotes something.
Megumin: I raise that boy.

This is the quality content I watch this channel for.
i built my first watercooling loops back around 2004 with geared water pumps.
And thick silicone tubing. and forgot to replug the complete loop quick connectors more than once
the pump goes up to around 9 bar (130 psi?).
really nice when the tubes get bigger and bigger and more transparent,
but my aquacomputer stuff was tested at 10bar and my homebuilt drilled stuff didnt leak either.
noticed the pump getting loud.
(all house installation plumming hast to withstand min 10bar + pressure spikes here)
now this is the content im subscribed for!
