The level of volume suggested in that book is just wild. You have to be doing two full workouts a day to fit it in.

Warning: Do not do this if you’re natural 😂 you shouldn’t be overdoing the volume of your workouts at all, especially on a small muscle group like the biceps. 2-3 workouts, maybe even 4 is enough to stimulate growth.
Anyone who is truly educated on old school bodybuilding would know that the extremely high volume high frequency routines arnold wrote about in his encyclopedia were the standard routines for PRE CONTEST, those routines were never used in the off season for gaining overall mass. Instead they used what i refer to as a generic and basic silver era routine that being 3-5 sets and exercise 8-15 reps 2-3 days a week and only around 10 exercises a workout, full body workouts. The general exercises that even arnold himself did were bench press, military press, chins, wrist curls, lateral raises, calf raises, squats, leg curls, french press or tricep extensions, and curls. For the intermediate to advanced lifter they would have phases of training each month where for example month one is the strength phase where lower rep ranges and high intensity is advised, hypertrophy phase the next month, and an endurance phase cycled on and off for years and years. Please do not try to do these kinds of high frequency and volume routines because they will leave you with no progress and you will become just another one of those guys that denounce all the hard work bodybuilders put in say "it would work if i took gear also".

I got that book in 1982 when I was 14 yo. I'm guessing he has an update version now. He has always been an inspiration. I'm still bodybuilding beast mode, never quit, never stop.
Just split that volume through the week for better recovery and more gains. 25 sets in one workout is excessive for most natural lifters.

Dont do this if you’re natty. Dude on juice have more energy and are able to train at higher tensions for longer. 6-9 sets per 3 days is good for muscle growth as a natural. People on PEDs also recover faster.
You should do a little less weight on curls your sacrificing form for more weight It looks when you sling weight up jts not all bicep it's shoulder and momentum and other muscle groups as well involved but if your main goal is bicep muscle isolation decrease your weight and have great form

25 sets of every single bicep exercise imaginable.
He just threw everything at it in case one thing hit differently than another.
Save yourself a whole lot of time and effort, just do curls of any kind and call it a day after 5 sets.

Intensity always wins volume only works for noobies, plenty of people do junk volume and you only tap into muscle growth your last 3-6 reps of any given workout
lets not forget Arnold was an enhanced athlete, obviously a natural bodybuilder cannot handle that type of load

@@qtate78 I still think it’s too much for a single muscle group, do all the exercises but cut the total sets per exercise in half. That way you can fit triceps into the same workout

That's just way too much volume for effective growth.
It's not about "shocking the muscle" by doing many sets.
It's about how many effective sets and reps you can do.
And if you do that many, there's two problems:
-your sets aren't intense enough to stimulate growth
-you get too much fatigue, sabotaging your recovery
excuse me but do you inhale when you curl up or exhale
you would exhale while curling up and inhale as you lower yourself back down.

Try replacing the concentration curls with concentration Zottman curls! These have been blowing up my forearms and help prevent tendinitis from too much bicep work. Got the idea from Knees over toes guy.

This will do nothing but over train a small muscle group... Arnold was on gear that's why he could workout for hours a day. Mike Mentzer had the right idea with his less is more approach.. but with a way higher intensity.

Maybe do this exact workout but only do 3 to 4 sets. Arnold was on gear, like everyone in the comments is saying, and that’s a legit fact. I would like to his workout routine before he was on steroids but that’s not gonna happen.
Curious why there’s no direct brachialis emphasis. Couldn’t throw any type of hammer curl in there with that insane of volume?

well .I got one for you. . Try Dave Batista ' s work out. it's in the 2001 Flex Fitness Magazine. Odyssey Quest. I tried it. it is a heavy intense work out. we'll worthy to try. 👍 plus Dave's Diet plan.

I don't do incline curls anymore. I get enough front shoulder when I cheat on the last few reps on straight bar curls.

"Shock" is a synonym for progressive overload, which is very relative to muscle growth.

Not really you just have to build up to it. 99 percent of people half ass their workouts so If you haven't been putting in the work for years you will probably get torn up doing this.

nah, that's way too much volume no matter what if you're natural (well for one exception if you go nowhere near failure on every set, but that's basically just wasting your time)

why no hammer curls?
after the first 2-3 exercices my biceps is literally FULL with blood and I cant lift anything anymore, my arms just shake... is there anything to prevent that? and should I?
No. Like 12 sets per week is completly enough for the biceps. Optimal range lied between 10-20 sets a week deoending on which muscle group you are training.
Fancy ways of doing the same excersize is just fuck all, at last , 20 sets of the same fucking motion will bring something out for sure!
U can't hit different parts of biceps physically impossible if we could we'd all do concentration curls and develop peaks like Albert beckles it's not happening

25 Sets is just ridiculous! Use Position of Flexion Bicep Workout and I promise you…..YOU WILL BE TOAST!
6 Total Sets! 2 Sets of Barbell Curls, 2 Sets of Preacher Curls and 2 sets of Concentration Curls. Do a couple of warm up sets. Use Time Under Tension, Negative and Concentric movement. Train to failure. And at least I explained the workout. And high volume is good if you are using STEROIDS! Don’t use DRUGS!!!

@@charmillax8695 Biceps and Triceps in my opinion respond extremely well with low amount of sets, especially if you use the position of flexion training system. And 6sets will light up your biceps and triceps!
