Agree with most but especially incorporating vintage or antiques and finding the right balance. So many designers are taking this look all the way. It looks dark and old and the eye has no where to go. I like the lightness of modern with just a couple of vintage pieces. It then looks intentional and interesting.

I second those both, AND add the Joanna Gaines pottery he showed at the end. All three are cringe. TO WHOM do those look remotely good??? Maybe WE are taking crazy pills? I don't even like the reddish metal he showed, and chrome is just something we have already come to terms with. I don't hate chrome, I almost think it is a neutral classic by now. For me, brass is best, but neither will ever go out of style.

@@Donna-vh5ym I think the problem with it is that it does not look like gold, more like a plastic gold that is glaringly shiny. A gold leaf mirror has a soft sheen to it, that I like. But you are right, lots of people must like it or they wouldn't sell it.

Bedrooms are always a series of boxes, much like a warehouse. The easiest way to introduce curves and interest is in curved bedside tables. (oval, half-moon, ameba, etc.) And how are you going to scrape your leg on a round table at night?

I am a fan of using antiques and vintage as long as the pieces are not too fussy and the overall space isn’t cluttered. I agree with other comments that mixing in modern art and accessories is key to an updated look. Window treatments also need to be in current styles.

Great video DD, And I must admit I LOVE my walk in pantry even though when I was renoing my kitchen (sometime in the previous century . . .) everyone was telling me no, it's oldfashioned, off trend, I'd be sorry etc . . . and I'm very happy to say has never had a wire shelving unit in it . . . One thing I'd like to see is a video on how to incorporate vintage and thrifted in a contemporary way. Due to economics at the time, I have ended up with a lot of vintage and antique furniture and they do look great and suit my 100ish y/o house sometimes it feels like I'm in a museum . . .

Or a larger living room with kitchen, with lots of breathing space, can have a desk where we work. It largely depends on what the work includes (in my case just a laptop and a mouse is all I need, additional screen appreciated but optional), whether we have children at home etc, but this is something I think I would personally love if I had the space for it.

Never like the gold look as it appeared cheap. I did see it on a yacht ( cheap).

Most of these trends are part of the Art Deco esthetic.

uh oh. I have Rae Dunn dog bowls. I guess I’m doomed 😭 Thing with Rae Dunn (and I know word “art” is plebian) is that it’s often on nice stuff. I’ve looked for wordless dog bowls, but none in that heavy, sturdy, ceramic that won’t knock over. So I have to keep those bowls until I find a replacement and just deal with being the laughing stock of everyone watching RUclips for design insight 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am totally distracted by the low quality upholstery of the chair the host is sitting on. Upholstery made from bold patterned fabrics must be bilaterally symmetrical!! This is not negotiable. This chair is a total miss. It just is not balanced. Send it back to the junk store where it was found. I can't finish watching this video.

Can we all please stop wasting breath saying “it’s your house, do what you love”? If they are that insecure, they shouldn’t be online. Grow up.

People say that because they’re afraid of backlash but I do agree with you. They’re on RUclips and viewers see them as an “expert” of sorts. They’re here giving their two cents-so own it and don’t worry about the backlash.
As they say, all publicity is good publicity-and that includes negative comments! If you have haters then you know you’re doing something right-you will never be loved by everyone!
