Absolutely fantastic video. I own 3 different brands and haven't used my xh1. It took me a while to get going. I just couldn't get my settings where I wanted . THIS video explained so much with clarity back in track. I'm glad it's such a GEM .Thank you so much.
Ok, I may be wrong...but I'm pretty sure you have the shadow settings backward from what you're saying. I know it seems backwards, but if you want to open up your shadows, you'd use a "negative" adjustment...that is, "less" shadows. Using a +1 setting makes your shadows darker...I think.
You are correct. Plus settings in Shadows means darker shadows; Minus settings mean lighter shadows, ie, “opening up the shadows.” Plus settings in Highlights means brighter highlights; Minus settings mean darker highlights, ie, “protecting the highlights.” It took me awhile to get used this when I started shooting Fuji a few years ago. The way I think of it: Regardless of the control you’er talking about, Plus gets you more (deeper shadows, brighter highlights) and Minus gets you less (less inky shadows and less over-exposure on the highlights).
Thank you very much for putting this together. I can't figure out why when I record video, the color profile changes although I've set in place before recoding. Anything I'm missing? Thank you.
@@boahandarrowsproductions4326 That seems weird, the color profile should follow the ones that the camera is in. the only thing I can think about is if you switch the Drive mode to video, it might remember your last Video setting vs Photo setting. Hope this helps and thanks for the feedback!
Just bought an XH1. This is a five year old video. There have been several FW upgrades. Does this change the way you set up your camera? Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Trying to find out how to switch OFF my movie setting when taking B&W stills in manual setting. I'm using L 1:1 4000 x 4000 with manual lenses and for some reason the camera keeps switching into MOVIE SETTING really, really annoying when your about to take a shot. Can I get rid of MOVIE SETTING completely ie lock it out as I don't take video at all and don't intend to. Thanks.
Thank you for this video Fred, I have a question regarding your IBIS noise, I tend to hear a loud clunking noise every time I turn the camera or pressing the play button, any comment?
Alireza mehranjani Not sure I can help here as I don’t hear this on my X-H1... Maybe a good idea to check with Fuji and see if it’s something they can fix.
Read your comment, my XH1 does the same thing. You can alter the IBIS to continual and then you won't hear the noise, you must have it on shoot only. The only time it will produce a clunking sound is when you check your photos as it switches it off. But you do get use to it. I use it for street photography with IBIS on permanent and it's silent. hope that helps.
Good day. Very informative video. Looking at adding an xh1 or xt3 ? Would the ibis be a difference maker in terms of sharpness? Does it affects image sharpness if you are at a fast shutter speed?
This was a great help Fred, you explained evrything well thanks for that, the menu in the Fujifilm X-H1 is a nightmare compared to all the pro cameras.
as you mentioned in your video that you already saw the xt3, what will be your comments about it? i do have xh1 and i am wondering why they make it more cheaper than xt3 any recommendation or motivation why i need to keep my xh1? by the way thanks for sharing your setting i might try this one :) looking forward for more updates! xiao!
Is it normal that the X-H1 always makes noise? As soon as you switch it on you hear a noise like a pc fan. Is that the IBIS - why does it also make the noise when IBIS is set to "shooting only"? Only scenario where the camera is silent is in the picture preview mode. Got my X-H1 yesterday and that annoys me a bit :-/
That's weird, it should let you go as low as the camera can shoot (160 or 200 ISO depending on the model) Do you have Movie Silent Control on? If yes, that will deactivate the physical dials. You will have to set it via the touch screen menu (top right in movie mode)
Fred Ranger Thanks for your reply. I figured it out. If on flog I knew already you can’t go lower than iso 800 but if its off it has to be in dynamic range 100% otherwise at DR 400% it will also prevent you from going below that. And that is in any film simulation mode.
I hope you still answer here (saw you comment 5 days ago), but did you change the wheel on the top left from S to ADV? when I change to adv the preview on the lcd looks more "real" compared to s, it looks kinda empty color wise, I hope you get what I mean :D I just got my X-H1 yesterday and I'm trying to figure out everything :D
@@FredRanger ahh okay thank you :D it's really awesome from you that you still help after 2 years. I hope that I can become a good photographer now haha
When I use silent mode on my X-H1, the aperture I set in movie mode, is also set in photo mode, and cannot be changed until I switch silent mode off. Do you also have the same 'issue' or would this be working as designed?
Great I just discovered your video ! have you experienced aliasing effects when you shoot in slow motion 120p ? Have you a recipe to solve this ? Thanks a lot !!!!

Hi. How can you monitor highlight clipping for video?
Sadly, there are no Zebra lines feature in the X-H1 to do just that. You will have to rely on the histogram. (The X-T3 has the Zebras)

Fujifilm x pro 2 settings
How’s the new firmware 2.01 .
I don’t own the X-H1 anymore so Incant tell. The latest firmware on my X-T3 brings faster AF and better responsiveness overall though.
It’s very useful for me ths

Well, with the autofocus the Sony is showing here, you could've done better with the X-H1 hooked up for this vlog...
True, the a6400 I was using back then wasn’t the best at AF. Must say that the A7iV and ZV1 im currently using are so good though.
