Thank you very much for putting this together. I've been going through my settings and can't figure out why my picture profile/ white balance changes when I record versus just viewing the screen.
I've just bought another XH1 again and I was wondering if there's a way to assign a button to turn the video record on instantly Thank you very much for sharing your videos
You can assign (one of them might actually already be assigned to it) the front or rear command dial to be shutter speed and get more options like selecting 48 as shutter speed. Let me know if it worked! Also, make sure you are either in shutter speed priority or full manual.
Thanks so much, Fred! I am using XH1 for the first time, and I was so overwhelmed looking at the camera and the 300 page manual :-(, your video is a savior, I am shooting some interviews soon, and I am taking the help of all the settings you have recommended here. I Will let you know how it all went. Thanks again.
hi! I followed the video and changed some settings (Mostly for the better), Thanks! however, now when I'm in S Focus mode, it is still continuously focusing.. any idea to fix this?
April 2022, and this is still great. I missed that color intensity setting. I'm planning on trying to get a Nacho Libre look. Knowing my limitations... I shot a film noir on the 5D Mark II way back in 2013, without knowing crap about my camera body. But I knew photoshop and worked big time in it's animation timeline creating realistic effects. Now ze XH-1 stares at me. But now I'm more nervous about being out with nice gear.
I love my X-H1 especially with the battery grip. I always forget to get out of auto wb and set a custom wb before a video shoot, so I made it a habit to set the white balance to an extreme setting either in kelvin or a preset so that next time I start shooting it WILL look off and funky hahaha. Hey, at least it works for me:)
I’m sorry I haven’t used the Atomos. There is this one video from fellow RUclipsr and fuji user though: m.ruclips.net/video/-8e73dL0Wsk/видео.html Hope that helps!
thank you fred. but can you show us how to save the settings? so that when the camera is turned back on after being turned off for a long time, the settings don't change? because based on my experience, after a long time not turned on, the settings return to factory settings again.
I haven’t experienced that (I shoot a often) but I know You can save and restore settings you have changed by using a PC as described here: digitalcamera-english.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20229/~/how-to-save-and-restore-camera-settings
Superb, thanks. Just bought one with the grip. New, 1100 euro. One question, is there gonna be another firmware update in the near future since Fuji sort of discontinued the XH1? Any thoughts?
Ron Wevers Fujifilm ils known for making firmware updates retroactive to older models, but in the case of the H1, you are dealing with a similar processor that you find in the T2 so it might limit the options here. Would love to see the new film simulations like Eterna Bleach Bypass make it to this camera though. 🤞
Hi Fred. Thanks for your tips and settings. Quick question / feedback request: I currently have a beautiful X-T30 that is nicer to look at (both the camera body and the footage) but i've found a bit cumbersome to use and handle with my big hands and without a D-Pad, the cramped ports, even with a Fuji grip and a Lensmate thumbgrip. Do you think it would be wise to get the discontinued X-H1 with the battery grip if I plan to do some stills but also video? Thanks.
It is more noticeable on older lenses with prior focussing motor technology like the 23 and 35mm f/1.4, 56mm f/1.2, etc. On the newer lenses you won’t notice it that much.
Thanks for the feedback on the videos! It is normal that you can’t go lower than 800 ISO in DR400. You have to revert back to DR100 to get lower ISOs. Cheers!
Love the channel bro! It's funny that you mention it, I actually sold my x-h1 this week to pick up the x100v and you have recent videos of both haha. Going to be testing the 100v this weekend but no regerets so far. Just subscribed! Cheers.
I have silent movie mode on. Because whatever settings I have made in there will not change when I come out of movie mode! If I am taking photos and wanna quickly switch to movie made I can without having to change the dials etc to fit taking the movie. Just a tip!😊 nice video, ta!😊
Yup, that is a very good option for hybrid shooters that need to switch quickly between photos and video mode. X-T4 fixes that by having 2 separate menu settings. Looking forward to getting my copy so I can test it.
Many thanks for video and information... I love Fujifilm X-H1 and GRIP VPB-XH1... 👍👍👍📷📸📸📷🎬🎬🎬👍👍😃😃👋👋👋 Greetings from Spain... Salud y Saludos desde España... 👋👋👋
Funny thing, I originally discovered your channel because of the Q2 & x100v differences but now I'm more intrigued about Fujifilm's video capabilities. I know that on paper the X-T4 is way way better than the X-H1 but I'm still drawn to its ergonomic and body design. Am I crazy? I also realized that most of the videos that I'd be making would be mainly on RUclips. Considering that, should I save up for the newest camera or get the H1 used that includes a lens, 3 batteries and the grip? Sorry if I made this comment too extensive lol
Thanks for your feedback and for watching my videos. I’m glad you found value in them. As for the Fujifilm for video, it really depends on what you are planning on shooting. The X-H1 is still a very capable 4K camera equipped with IBIS and the best grip of the X live of cameras. You could invest more in good lenses with the extra cash.
Hi again Fred, I sincerely want to ask you another question: I have been a Nikon user for a long time (at the moment...), I wanted to buy a Nikon D750..., until I saw this fantastic Fujifilm X-H1..., I fell in love with her...; compared to the D750, how is this X-H1, in terms of dynamic range... equal, superior...??, and the same in terms of autofocus, in low light, and in sports photography (such as motorcycling or motoring...), same, superior...?? ... Thank you very much in advance for your answers... 👍👍😀😀 Ah!!!, I'm not a professional, just a long time hobbyist... Health and greetings from Spain..., and sorry for my bad english... 🖐🖐🖐👍👍👍👍 Gracias y Saludos, socio... 🖐🖐🖐
JOAN ANTONI M.P. The D750 is a great DSLR, but I would favour the Fujifilm mirrorless system for size, weight and IBIS. The low light and AF performance are on par and you get the electronic view finder (you see your exposer before shooting). So my choice would be the Fuji. Salud! 🤘🏻
It is possible to assign the shutter release button to do so fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x-h1/basic_movie/movie_rec/#
Hello may i ask? My shutter speed it stuck at 60. How can i unlock the 1/48 ss ?
You can assign (one of them might actually already be assigned to it) the front or rear command dial to be shutter speed and get more options like selecting 48 as shutter speed. Let me know if it worked! Also, make sure you are either in shutter speed priority or full manual.

Thank you for the tips ! 🙏
I just bought a used X-H1 and it has been a huge improvement over my GX8 for shooting video.
Enjoy this great camera!
Hello Fred! Tks for the video, I have the xt2 and I like to change to these beauty xh1. What do you thing? Muchas gracias 😊
If you need the image stabilizer definitely the X-H1 or X-T4. Salud!
Hola Oscar.... Saludos...
hi! I followed the video and changed some settings (Mostly for the better), Thanks! however, now when I'm in S Focus mode, it is still continuously focusing.. any idea to fix this?
Check for the little AF switch bottom in front of the camera. This overrides the internal settings. Hope this helps! Cheers!

i like this camera, do you know why BnH discontinued this camera?
Pablo Szuster It’s Fuji that discontinued the camera. Might mean that there’s a new model coming... but who knows.
Thank you for the instruction video. It is very helpful.
Glad you found it helpful! Happy shooting!
Thanks for keeping this simple. I am just starting a RUclips channel and want to film with this camera.
This is a great camera for RUclips!
What is the red line event appearing on the screen? Is it used for focus or sharpness? How to use?
It might be from the sound getting to high

Mind. Art. Creativity. That’s a very efficient method to never forget that WB setting anymore ;-)
Can you show me how to get my Fuji XH1 connected to my Atomos Ninja V the record button is grade out.

They may add some tweaks for lenses once the X-T4 is out, but the sensor probably won't allow anything more monumental as their previous X-H1 firmware

X-H1 is one of my preferred Fuji body and definitely better suited if you have bigger hands. The grip + IBIS makes it a no brainer in my opinion!
Thanks for the info. Do you think that there is a big gap about the autofocus speed between xt3 and xh1 ?
It is more noticeable on older lenses with prior focussing motor technology like the 23 and 35mm f/1.4, 56mm f/1.2, etc. On the newer lenses you won’t notice it that much.
Awesome Video man 👍🏻
I use always etherna/Video too. Why i don´t can in dr400 go lower than iso800? Is that normal?

Have you ever experienced about that lockup and reset issues on xh1?
Not on my end. Is that the case for you?

It has F-Log 1 yes
great video! I'm glad you jumped right in and didn't vlog us first.
More to come!

400 approx

The X-T4 is the best for all around video features and if you need the flip screen to see yourself when filming.
@@FredRanger totally agree with both points, and thank you for the advice!

I bought a body only for £580 in May 2020. I’m loving it.
Wow, such a good deal for a great camera!
@@FredRanger yes absolutely. When I saw the video from XH1 I was blown away. I had an X-T1 before. A crazy huge upgrade at least for me.
For sure! + you get that IBIS that can come in handy
Hope you safe too 😷😷😷
Eak Nutthapong I am thanks, it’s more the “staying saine not shooting my camera outdoor” part that’s harder ;-)
Thank you Fred!
Pleasure!
Yes, it will AF in 120 FPS
Here it is guys, my complete Fujifilm X-H1 video settings! Anything you want to know? ask below!
4:25 why don’t you just use a custom WB…just take a photo of a white card and you’re good to go
That’s a valid option!

I hate that you pretty much need the grip for this camera.
I agree, that’s a downside
That sucks you were stuck, I went out.
What do you mean?
