- Hey friends! We've just finished painting our little RUclips studio, so let us know what you think! Please share yours if you've been working on a setup of your own.
Also, I wanted to share how to use autofocus while in manual mode. It's something I use all the time to lock my focus in quickly, but I don't see anyone really talking about it. Thought I'd share in case it was helpful to some of you guys.
So while I was at it, I figured I might as well go over how I setup my Fuji XT3 for any of you new to the Fujifilm system.
Let me know what your settings are like. Always open to new options!

Watching you for the first time on this video. When I heard you say "This guy has been a beaut.", I knew immediately that I was watching a fellow Canadian. That, and the awesome content are great reasons for a sub.
Hahahah oh, fck ya bud! You can find me wearing double denim slurpin’ a Tim’s double-double. :)
Where in Canada are you?
@@AtomicPixel East coast. Just outside Halifax.

Hope you guys found this useful! Does the autofocus in manual mode make sense? Is it something you do or would use?
Stay tuned for the Macbook 16" review if you've been thinking about it. So far, so good.
Take care!

Man this vid is gold. A lot of my long time questions were answered in one vid lol! Thank you!
I also have a stupid question. Maybe, I somehow clicked something on the menu but the info on the screen when I'm shooting would only show whenever I click buttons or turn the dials and would go off again showing just the image. I want to constantly see the info on my screen to make sure I have the settings I want. Thanks!
Kx Jake glad it was helpful bro! Maybe you hit the display button? If you hit a few times it’ll cycle through on lcd views if that’s what you mean!
If not, shoot me an email with some screen shots

Great vid! Space is looking great.
John Serviss thanks, brother! Much appreciated :)

The title is "How to setup your Fujifilm Camera" and what I see is someone talking about wall paint. Why do so many RUclipsrs fail to get to the point right away. No one who clicks on a video with this title cares about your interior design choices. It is meant to be constructive criticism. I hope it wasn't too harsh. It's just that I watched a few videos about that and everyone was talking about anything but the actual subject at first.
I assume you don't create photos in the home studio since the walls are dark? I may be wrong, I'm use to seeing white walls for photo studios unless it's not really used for that. I'm not an expert. As for as your wall space, I was thinking your social media handle would look nice on that wall. To get your ( You and wifey) creative juices flowing some stick on letters would look nice in a shiny black or you could spray it on with satin black paint and stencil. Just to get the juices flowing... I don't have a Fuji cam but thanks for sharing the functions. Great job YT buddy!
Hey! How’s quarantine been?
And yeah, I wanna do a logo on the wall. This is just a RUclips corner. We have a table and other area for product shoots for clients.
Hope you’ve been well!
@@AtomicPixel Doing ok, I'm still alive so that's golden. Your space looks great. I'm still trying to find myself in the photo and video world . I'm researching now on and asking myself if I could see myself shooting this or that .. blah blah blah. See you on your next video!
I hear ya. Gotta create content you like otherwise you won’t film it. All the best!
Other than the banding you can get using the electronic shutter under LED lighting, what benefit do you see to using the mechanical shutter vs the electronic shutter?
I like using it during wedding ceremonies so I don’t disrupt guests or when my baby is sleeping so I don’t wake her.
It also helps when you want to take pics during the day with the f stop wide open.
What body are you shooting with?
@@AtomicPixel I have a X-H1. And I have an old X-T1 that I love too much to part with. I like using both modern and vintage lenses with both. Regarding the shutter question, I get the benefit of a quiet electronic shutter. It's pretty much all I use. My question was more about the mechanical shutter. Any advantage to it other than banding under led lights?
@@don7117 I had an xh1 - been debating adding it back to the stable. And ohhh, ok.
So the main advantage of the mechanical shutter is less rolling shutter distortion. If you pan quickly or your subject moved quickly, you might get distortion or a wobbly look in electronic shutter mode that you wouldn’t get with mechanical.
You also can’t use a flash with electronic shutter.
And very cool about our East. I’m in Ontario, but some good buddies of mine just moved out east. I thjnk he said about half hour from Halifax.
Very good video! It pushed me to set up my customs buttons better! I will be trying the M focus mode with back button focusing and see how I feel about it. Also I did a bit of reaserch on the shadow and highlight tone that you set to +2. Do you do it to maximise your dinamic range? Do they affect the RAW files also? Many thanks
Lorenzo Garofoli thx buddy. I find the auto/manual focus great for anytime you need to lock a shot or need focus peaking to check things.
And I do +2 in order to flatten the image a touch more. It helps level out the highlights and shadows to increase dynamic range so you have a little more flexibility in post.
I don’t think they affect raw. I believe raw just has all the data regardless of your settings
I was like "who is this guy to tell me what are the best", but then I saw that he's Asian. 😉🤭
P.S. I'm half myself, so I can get away with it... half way.
Hangover Chilly hahaha my half brothaaaa! I didn’t say it was best. I said it’s how I set it up! ;)

Haha, well that doesn't work with my bad joke. 🤷♂️

Hangover Chilly I still appreciated it! :)
