Prior to acquiring an X-T3 a couple of years ago, I never owned a digital Fuji camera. Well, except for maybe one of those little point and shoot "XPS" cameras. Now I have owned and shot with a number of serious film Fujis such as the GA645, GW645, GW690, GSW690 and GW670. I want to add that I still have and use those "film Fujis" because they are great cameras. After I picked up the X-T3 I was sold. I loved it for not only the image quality but for the usage experience. Before I knew it, I had acquired a slew of X-Mount lenses. Not much longer after that I began using it for paid portrait work. About a year ago (Winter of 2023?) I found a deal on a X-H1 with grip and well, now I have 2 of them, the 16-55 and the 50-140 that I have used professionally.... I'd have to say that up until a couple of years ago I was primarily a Nikon shooter: FG20, FE, FM, FM3a, D200, D300, D3s, D800, D810, Z6, Z7 - etc... The X-H1 is a mini D3s or maybe a D4 or D5 with a 24MP DX sensor in it along with some other cool tricks. The damned thing feels so good in the hand, yet is built like a tank. It's fast, quiet and does okay at higher ISO's. Using it becomes 2nd nature and it produces wonderful images. The only "issue" is that sometimes the focus isn't as perfect as I'd like. The majority of my paid shoots are still done with the Nikons however, when I am out on the street or am carrying a camera for fun I'd say that there is a 95% chance that I grab the X-H1. Great video BTW!
Thanks, Craig I bought the XT 2 with reservations due to its compact size. With the battery grip, it becomes in my book a camera to hold. I still hankered after the XH1 so with heart ruling the head I bought one. The five reasons you like it for I am with you on them, build quality, the shutter button to name my two favourites. You talk of the Sony overshadowing this also the XT3, VHS overshadowed Betamax for those who know what they are. The XH1 has been like Betamax beaten by marketing and the newer models. Those that own the XH1 know what a gem of a camera it is.
It sounds like your journey to the X-T2 and inevitably to the X-H1 was similar to mine. And you're right on the money about the X-H1 being a gem of camera. I feel lucky to own one that's for sure. Thank you so much for watching and for your great comment! Much appreciated.
Line by line - exactly how I've found using it. Have the XPRO 3 which I love - but for video and a totally different feel the XH-1 is now my favourite.

I too got the X-H1 when it went on sale at $999. I traded in my S-T1 and my X-T2 which covered the cost although I regret letting go of my X-T1. I love the X-H1.
It really is a great camera. I've actually been thinking about selling my X-T1 to put that money towards another lens for my X-H1. I'm not sure yet but I'm really enjoying shooting with the X-H1 and it's really all I need for the foreseeable future.

@@masashiro Wonderful! I too have both the X-T1 as well as the X-H1. The X-H! specifically for video. My favorite X series is the X-T2...(the screen being the same as X-H1 for low angle portrait mode shooting is more practical and useful than the X-T1. ) I sold my X-T2 and miss it DAILY, but I'll not trade these other models to get it; I need the IBIS in the X-H1 and love the 16m look of the X1 so, I'll do as suggested in my original comment and save up. :-) I'm glad you have an X-T1 again and are enjoying the H1, my X-T1 is black but for the X-T2 will ONLY buy one which is the silver graphite version like your X-T1. Beautiful. Peace.
YES! And it makes me happy when people notice and comment about it! That's one of the reasons I put it there. I've bounced around with my shooting setup but need to return to something like this soon so the album covers can return. Thanks for watching and noticing! Clearly you have great taste ;)
I sold my X-T20 in exchange for an X-H1 with the battery grip this week. Only taken it out once for a practice and already love the shutter button! I also own an X-T3 but can see me using the X-H1 more, except for wildlife photography when I want that faster autofocus and shutter speed. Great review.
Very cool that you have an X-T3 and now an X-H1. Sounds like a great combo! The shutter button is pretty awesome. And sometimes it's nice to grab a camera with a larger grip and larger buttons, etc. Let me know how it goes with the X-H1 as you use it more. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nearly sold my X-H1 yesterday but used it prior and realised that it is so underrated and its a great camera at a great price. Keeping it now though did sell my 40-150 MM zoom and teleconverter as they were rarely used. But pleased I have kept the camera.
It is a great camera and still underrated. I totally agree. I think these will be coveted even more over the next couple of years. Thanks for watching and commenting! I need to make more videos about my X-H1 soon.
Hey, thanks for the kind words and recognizing good music ;) I love it when people notice those things. Thanks for watching and commenting! Much appreciated.
Great video (as all your videos are.... ) I just picked up a mint, virtually un-used x-h1 w/ grip for less than the going rate for a used x-t3. I have an array of Fuji bodies (I have the x-trans II, III and IV), but this one is really appealing. Love the quiet shutter.
That’s so cool! Sounds like you got an amazing deal! Just when I think I’m going to simplify my cameras I end up with multiple Fuji cameras again lol. I currently have 3 and am eyeing a fourth 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😂😂 Thanks for watching and for your support. It’s much appreciated
I find myself reaching for the XH-1 more often than my XT-30 and especially my X100 S (which got me into the Fuji system). I find the ergonomics easier, especially after years of SLR/DSLR. My only two significant complaints is that I paid $2300 for camera and grip only to see it go to $999. The other frustration is that the XT-3 came out only months later and they did not put any of that technology in the XH-1. Overnight the duocore processor became yesterday’s news when the quad core processor came out. As a result they stopped writing software updates after v.2. XT-3 is now on v.4. That said I still love it.
I agree with you. It's a bummer the feature rich software updates stopped early on with this camera. But I'm with you, I still love it as well. Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Got one of these arriving tomorrow as I need IBIS for a project, really looking forward to it. Like you, X-T2 user up to now and love it and the retro design, but your review has me thinking I might not miss the exposure compensation too much
That's awesome! I hope you're liking it so far. It's such a great camera. And as of right now still the only X-Series camera with this exact body style. Let me know how you like it.
Bought my XH1 when it was first launched. I still have it and not seen anything to make me sell it. I am just envious of the new 26mp sensor. I absolutely love the shutter. Have won a few comps using the XH1.
That’s awesome it’s worked out so well for you! Congrats on winning those comps! Im excited to see the X-H2 but I’m in no big rush to “upgrade”. Thank you for watching!

A great camera...i only make stills. this week i bought a second one with only 50 in the shutter account. From a Lady, who bought this and have problems with it (handling problems)... later she bought a XS-10. I'm happy...she's happy 😁
Wow! Sounds like it worked out great for both of you! That's awesome! Let me know how you like it once you start shooting with it. Thank you for watching and commenting. And congrats on your camera!
@@CraigBergonzoni Thanks.... like it, like my other X-H1... want to go to buiseness(sooner or later), that's why i bought the second one. my other fujis(Xt-1 and X-pro1) are for vacation, street and such things.😇
I've got two X-H1's and they have taken many brilliant images. I just love these cameras so much. Only problem is that on my recently acquired 16 1.4, the older focus system on the H1 could not focus the older lens fast enough for street and events. I was forced to by a third body - X-T3. The X-T3 is a much underrated camera and I really like it a lot too. Now I have the best of both worlds - two great cameras with IBIS, and the newer T3 with fantastic autofocus. I was hankering over the X-H2, but I'm really satisfied with my gear now and really don't think I need one.
That stinks about the 16mm f1.4 but that's great you own a X-T3 now though. I want to pick one of those up to compliment my X-H1 & X-T1. I agree about the X-H2. I'm excited to see what's announced but I'm in no rush to upgrade quite yet. Thanks for watching and commenting! Much appreciated.
I have two almost brand new, I don't find any buyer only stupid offers, I love this camera and I will not sell less than their value. I will keep both.
Craig . . I am thinking to purchase the X-H1. I know it’s been 3 years since you posted this video, however I would like to know . . 1. Do you still like camera? . . and . . 2. Do you find the Auto Focusing to be a problem in using the X-H1 . . missing shots that should have been tack on? Thank You !
I picked up the XH1 in June and can’t agree more with Craig’s comments. I photographed a wedding and it was perfect. Autofocus was very good, lots of great pictures, tack sharp with a good quality lens, 33 1.4 and 16 1.4
i used Pentax MX and now use D3300. My favourites are landscapes and portraits. Besides the fabulous line of Fuji lenses, i like the bigger body of XH1 which, i hope will give me a steadier grip. Should i switch over to Fuji? i depend on your advice.
This really a personal choice. The X-H1 and Fujifilm line of cameras are great and fun to use. They're of high quality and can definitely create great landscapes and portraits. If you do decide to give it a try buy used and that way if you don't like it you can resell the gear closer to the price you purchased it for. Let me know what you decide to do. I hope it works out! Great camera ,can't believe Tony N said it felt plasticky ! I think it feels really rugged . going to try my Samy12mm f2 on it soon .Thanks for your review .
Yeah, “plasticky” is not an accurate description of the quality lol. It’s probably the best made digital camera I’ve owned. (I haven’t owned a ton but still...) thanks for watching as always! I appreciate it. 👊🏼
@@CraigBergonzoni It's a heavy beast , but produces lovely images ,can't seem to part with it :-) D700 will be a bit lighter if that could be an issue .
I have had an x-h1 for over a year and just traded my x-t2 for a second one in mint condition. Rarely use it for video, it's just a great photographers camera and having tried the later models I can't find anything to beat this!
Hey David, congrats on that X-T2! Ironically I just picked up an X-T2 again. I did for very similar reasons as you, I’ve found it to be my overall favorite EDC photographic tool. I’m happy to have one again. I’ll be making a video about it very soon. Thanks for watching and for commenting!
Among my four Fuji cameras, including the technically superior X-T3, I prefer to reach for the X-H1 every time! The ergonomics and top lcd display, ohh man! This camera is beautiful, and it just fits right in my hands.
While I've been saving up for the X-T4, if I decide to go with a used camera to replace my dying X-T1 as my main camera body for stills and video I'm almost leaning towards the X-H1. It will be a real nice step up from the X-T1, especially for video and night photography, without breaking the bank like the X-T4 will. And perhaps eventually an X-E3 for when I just want a low profile camera to carry around.
That sounds like a good idea. The X-H1 is priced pretty good right now on the used market. I've seen a few on KEH & usedphotopro.com fairly often. I even thought about picking up a second one. I don't need it but still thinking about it. lol
I still love my X-H1 and have no regrets buying it. It’s the last of the 24mp cameras. Curious if the X-H2 ends up being like the GFX100S but with some hardcore video specs.
Mine was 700 minty, from a local seller. Love throwing manual vintage lenses on it with ir's ibis. Just remember to set the lens mm in the body, folks, or ibis will not work right.. Find a fine condition Minolta Celtic 135 2.8. You won't believe how sharp it is. Or the fact that you paid 40 bucks for it.
Hi Graig if you remove the insite rings out of the H1 yoy dont nead tussen rings for your strap system. Remove one 1 way, the other site is bigger. I love H1 she is a tank. Hey Roel! That's for the tip! And that's awesome you have 2 X-H1s! Even though I'm constantly buying and trying other cameras the X-H1 is the one camera I do not want to sell. It's still my all time favorite camera. Thank you for watching and for your feedback!
Nice pointers about the X-H1. For some reason I find this camera more intriguing than the newer X-T4, even if it has better video features, something that I wanna do in the future. Just a quick question, can you explain how you can separate the video settings from stills and viceversa? Because I haven't seen a lot of videos that talk about this feature.
I'll have to double check all of the different settings you can save but I know that it will remember which film simulation you choose in video mode (on the X-H1) as well as the Highlight tone, shadow tone settings etc. And I think the X-T4 it will remember more but I'm not sure of all of those. Thank you for watching and commenting btw! Much appreciated. I'm happy people are finding this video. I really dig the X-H1 and am happy more people are finding these on the used market now.
Great point! I’ve never tried the x100 series. But that makes complete sense that it would be the quietest. The x100V is on my wish list. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
@@CraigBergonzoni Thank you and no problem. Personally i would not get the x100v as i dont think the premium is worth it over the x100s, x100t and x100f. I am now looking for the x100t as it has the nice colors of the xtrans ii and enough functionalities :)
If I remember correctly, it was the Sony @7mkIII which hit the market at about the same time as the X-H1. But not even that or the firmware updates for the X-T2 killed the sales of this camera. It was the appearance of the X-T3 just 6 or so months later that had much better video capabilities just without the IBIS for less money. Do I care? No. I too grabbed the X-H1 while on sale for EUR 999 (yes I live across the pond) despite the fact that I already had X-T2 for years. As well as X-T1. Which I still own and doubt I'll ever sell them. Yeah yeah, GAS confirmed, I know...
That's an awesome collection you have there! It's nice to connect with other X-H1 owners. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! Much appreciated.
Do you have another camera you use more often? I have an X-T1 and I tend to take that out more often but that's mainly because my X-H1 is my main video camera and I tend to protect it a bit. If something happens to my X-T1 when I'm out shooting street photography it's not a huge loss. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@CraigBergonzoni yeah, I currently have more cameras than I could ever possibly need. X-H1, X-Pro1, Xt-10, X100V... I have a problem. I mostly use the X100 for the small carry everywhere size.
For me there is only 1 downside to my xh1 and that is AF. No problem for stills and the AF is sufficient. For moving objects, in my case dogs walking towards me the AF of my xh1 (and also of the xt3 and even the xt4) is really bad. I used to have nikon and the AF was a lot better with this. Currently I have Fuji, with 13 Fuji lenses (the more expensive and better) and yet I still had to buy a sony body with 2 lenses to be able to take pictures of moving dogs. My sony has no trouble at all with the AF of dogs coming quickly to me, while fuji gives me 90% misses. Fuji must urgently address their AF and at least bring it up to the level of competition.
People have talked about the shutter being difficult to push halfway for focus. I also heard Fuji fixed this in later models. What has been your experience?
Hey Joseph, I've heard of that complaint too but I haven't had any issues with mine. I've owned for 3 years now. It's possible that problem was fixed before I picked up m y copy but I honestly don't know how widespread that was to begin with. My copy has been great in all aspects. Great camera. What's your opinion on the xh1's shutter button, i've heard some negative feedback on this because its shutter button is too light so it's hard for the user to know when the camera is focusing or has taken a picture...
Have this camera and love it but where are you getting this XH2 info? It looks like to me that they have just changed direction and are concentrating on the XT series. The XT4 is basically what people wanted in the XH2 except for the top info screen (which I am a big fan of)
According to some statements made from Fujifilm the X-H line will continue and according to Fujirumors.com 2021 is the expected time of release (no one knows anymore details other than that at this point) I think they'll find a way to continue to differentiate the X-H & X-T lines of cameras. I have a feeling we've seen the last of the X-Trans 4 cameras so maybe the X-H2 will help usher in the X-Trans 5 cameras. Hopefully we find out soon! Thank you for watching and commenting! I appreciate it.
@@CraigBergonzoni That's exciting news! I really love the size of the XH1 I hope they release the XH2 soon so I can buy it in a couple of years, hehe. I guess one of the biggest improvements will be battery life (if they have been paying attention). Thanks for the info:)
Well Fujifilm is making look like a liar. lol According to Fujirumors.com, in a story this morning, we're looking at a 2022 release date for the X-H2. That's a bit of a bummer on the timeline but at least they're still going to make it.
Good question! It does have an electronic shutter option, which is completely silent. But I was talking specifically about the mechanical shutter. The mechanical shutter on this camera is extremely quiet. It's very nice to use. In situations where you need complete silence then the electronic shutter is the way to go. Thanks for watching and for your comment!! Much appreciated.
Love my xh1, I have the xt3 which may have faster AF but I find the AF on my xh1 especially with the 16-55 2.8 is pretty damn good too. And alough my xt3 has better video specs I more often than not use my xh1 to shoot video, IBIS and the better ergonomics of the xh1 alough me to get far steadier video than I can on my xt3, and when it comes to images I see no difference between the xh1 and xt3 to be honest.
Takes a while for people to realize this. So many "must have" up to the minute specs are seldom used, noticed or worth the sacrifice of other features (and $$) which you've come to need the most. It is crazy that hobbyists think they need the latest and greatest in every department. Calm down, you aren't producing for Netflix, enjoy what you have and remember why you bought it in the first place. Don't get greedy-needy or you'll never create anything.

That's a great deal. Congrats on that! In terms of WB for film sims; it depends on what you're going for. Sometimes having a unique specific WB setting helps give some film simulation recipes their look. But if you want versatility between different types of lighting then go with AUTO WB. But if you want to mimic what film stocks used to be then go with 5500K for daylight and 3200k for indoor. Although I've found that 5700-6300k sometimes gives me more of that old school daylight film look. Play around and see what you like.

Great question. To be honest I can't answer that question from experience. I haven't used any of the Sony mirrorless cameras. From what I can tell though the A7rII seems like a really cool camera. If you need amazing Auto Focus then Sony usually has the advantage here. But one of the reasons I'm using Fujifilm at the moment is the lens system. I love the choices of lenses Fujifilm offers. The prices are solid and image quality is great. Things change rapidly though and Sony has been announcing some great compact prime lenses that aperture rings similar to Fujifilm. I would research the lenses that you think you might want to use from each brand and compare. Just keep in mind the Sony is "full frame" and the Fujifilm X-Series are crop sensor cameras. It doesn't make a huge difference in quality but the focal lengths will appear different on each. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Beautiful. Peace.
Back there on the shelf there is Tool booklet that makes me unexpectedly happy 💙
Agreed. Selling my X-S10 and buying one of these tomorrow. I will pocket $200 too!
Nice! Let me know how it all works out. I use mine constantly. Thanks for watching and commenting! Best of luck with your X-H1!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I see you have great taste in music too!
Hey, thanks for the kind words and recognizing good music ;) I love it when people notice those things. Thanks for watching and commenting! Much appreciated.
I got many cameras but this one is my favourite I love this camera so much that I could not explain.
It is build like a tank and will last forever

Glad you made this video, I just got my XH1 and looking forward to using it.
Congrats on your X-H1!! Fantastic camera. Keep me updated on how it’s working out for you.
This is the best informative video I've seen great job thanks
@@CraigBergonzoni I've been umming and ashing over either X100V or XT4, but pick up my XH1 and think WHY? I shall wait for XH2......if there is one. I would love the XH2 to be full frame🤣
@@malcolmwhiting3078 I hear you! That would be awesome. Check out my last video before this one if you haven’t yet. I give some general guesses about the X-H2. Nice review of the XH1. I wish i had a chance to try this camera bit longer than monkey it at a Fuji store for 10 minutes..
Thanks! Yeah, it’s pretty cool. I think more will hit the user market this year as people try newer cameras.
@@CraigBergonzoni Your welcome Craig.

want to go to buiseness(sooner or later), that's why i bought the second one.
my other fujis(Xt-1 and X-pro1) are for vacation, street and such things.😇
That's great! Best of luck with the business! Let me know how it goes as you start.
Understandable! Don't let them go for any less than you expect. It's a great camera. Thank you for watching and commenting! Much appreciated.
Craig .
Autofocus was very good, lots of great pictures, tack sharp with a good quality lens, 33 1.4 and 16 1.4
I’m thinking about getting this! I’ve heard this camera is great!
Nice! A lot of this stuff is personal preference but I love this camera. Let me know if you do try it out. Thanks for watching and commenting!
i used Pentax MX and now use D3300.
Among my four Fuji cameras, including the technically superior X-T3, I prefer to reach for the X-H1 every time! The ergonomics and top lcd display, ohh man! This camera is beautiful, and it just fits right in my hands.
@mortenthorpe I agree!
@@mortenthorpe I've heard a couple of RUclipsrs say the same thing.
I love mine too. And I think you could be right about the hardcore video specs. I can't wait to find out! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice! Sounds like you got a great deal. And that's a good suggestion for a lens. Thanks!
Great camera, it’s a shame Fuji have not had any major firmware updates for it though.
The Fujifilm X-H1 and Panasonic G9 are two massively underrated cameras today in my opinion.
I agree! Great cameras.
Hi Graig if you remove the insite rings out of the H1 yoy dont nead tussen rings for your strap system. Remove one 1 way, the other site is bigger.

I love it so mutch that 2e hand i by two others. Always a H1 fot the future.
Tsanks for your video, and happy "shots" Roel from the Netherlands
The shutter on the x-h1 is indeed very silent, though the x100 series still have the most quiet leaf shutter and feels even better imho
I love mine too, and I unfortunately don't even use it that often.
Awesome! I eventually want to try one of the ranger finder style cameras like the X-Pro or X100 series.
@@CraigBergonzoni Do it. I prefer those to the dslr style.
Good point. That would be a great improvement. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching!
What's your opinion on the xh1's shutter button, i've heard some negative feedback on this because its shutter button is too light so it's hard for the user to know when the camera is focusing or has taken a picture...
I understand that some people may not like it but It’s never been a big problem for me.
When you speak of a quiet shutter, I wonder if this has electronic shutter
That's awesome. Great insight! Thanks for watching and commenting!

It does not unfortunately. Still shoots amazing video though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I just got mine for $600 body. Also, $700 for Fuji 16-55 2.8 lens. Q: what WB u recommend so that film simulations come out good ?
That's a great deal. Congrats on that! In terms of WB for film sims; it depends on what you're going for. Sometimes having a unique specific WB setting helps give some film simulation recipes their look. But if you want versatility between different types of lighting then go with AUTO WB. But if you want to mimic what film stocks used to be then go with 5500K for daylight and 3200k for indoor. Although I've found that 5700-6300k sometimes gives me more of that old school daylight film look. Play around and see what you like.

How does it compare to the Sony A7rii just wondering
