  • 1. Draw petals an easy way.
    I easily draw flowers.
First, wipe off the brush's moisture. Then take the ink on only one side of the brush's tip for expressing gradients.
And draw as if drawing short lines.
I draw flowers using light color ink than when I paint orchid leaves.
If you stop slightly before removing the brush,
the ink accumulates, and the density changes,
So you can feel the curves and thin and thick parts of the petals.
    2. Express pistils and stamens like dots,
When drawing stamens, prepare more dark color ink than when drawing petals.
If the brush is wet, wipe it off beforehand.
Then take small dots, and that's it.
    3. The composition of flowers
I think one of the most difficult parts of Sumi-e art is creating a composition.
If you practice a lot, you can make a composition even while drawing.
Because I'm used to drawing one by one, I can focus on creating the overall composition.
But If it is too nervous or a burden, you can mark the branches and flowers' location with a pencil before drawing with ink.
    Make it easy for yourself.
    4. Drawing with orchid leaves
In the previous video, I showed you how to draw orchid leaves.
    Let's bloom petals on it.
Simple orchids become much more splendid.
Plants can be expressed with lines and dots like this.
It takes practice to express yourself in a variety of ways.
    Have fun.
"Sumugdamchaehwa" is a traditional Korean ink painting technique drawn through the brightness of ink which is called "Mug". It is similar to watercolor, but it is drawn with one brush without repeated brushing.
In Asian culture, black and white, which were not regarded as colors in the West, were perceived as colors. If you need a new method of meditation, I recommend you try this painting technique.
