- Metallic and foil finishes are extremely popular in apparel design but can be intimidating to create. This class will help you feel confident adding heat transfer foil as part of your product offering. In this video, Stahls' TV educator, Josh Ellsworth, teaches apparel decorators about CAD-CUT® Adhesive and Heat Transfer Foil, including how to create multi-color foil finishes, distressed designs, and predictable patterns.

Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the great information. Looking forward to ordering this product.
I have been watching your videos back-to-back and have lost track of time. Thank you for all the valuable information you have been providing for beginners like myself. Although, I'm a beginner, that doesn't mean I have to offer elementary type products. I realize that I am watching videos that are several years old, so I'm wondering if the materials are still available. These would be awesome if I could offer this quality to my customers and prospective customers... myself first. I really appreciate what I'm seeing. This was an amazing way to spend my Saturday. I'll look for a sample packet to start with so I'll know what I wish to purchase.
Thank you.
Donna

This was a great tutorial!
Perfect thanks for sharing
Very very helpful. I'm very excited to watch your video. Thank you so much!
Amazing video, thx a lot ! Im a customer now.
This is such an informative video. Just a thought though. On the rose gold shirt (with the orange outline) where you had trouble with the register, would it have been possible to cut the foil on (for instance a silhouette cameo or similar) with a transfer sheet, separate the two and then register the foil in place? This would keep the foil at full lustre and avoid the possibility of it sticking to the heat transfer out line. Another possibility would be to apply the stencil method, as you did with the mountain outline shirt. What are your thoughts?
excelente!!!!! gracias
Good video.
I think im going to buy a sillo as well as a decent heat press.
along with supplies to start practicing..
I almost bought the eoky 920 pro... but couldnt bring myself to drop 8000 on a printer alone.
Hie guys l also like t say u are great .l like printing so really need ur teaching
is it possible to do a short video on making templates like that for foils
Thank you so much for a great video..
Is there a particular garment blend that I shouldn't use, when using foil?
Hi Stephen. Great question, we'd recommend either cotton or polyester fabric to be safe.
While printing on adhesive for foil, how to do you print transparent design?
good
I would like to know how is it once it is wash a few times?
I would Love to work there. i would have a big reclying bid.
nice !!!
I love every of your job, but let me ask a question, the used foil can it be reused again?
If there is color left on the sheet, yes.
Thank you for this video! Where does this adhesive come from? Could it be applied to other things besides fabric? Thank you!
You can find the foil adhesive here - www.stahls.com/heat-transfer-foil-adhesive
We have only tested it for fabrics so if you're looking to apply it to other items, we recommend running your own tests to ensure best results.
I have been told they use this with DTG Printing also, I'm guessing you put it over the printed Item before heat sealing it
All good found my Answer
I need this machine plz give information for this machine
You can find information on all of the Hotronix heat presses here: www.stahls.com/heat-press-machines ..if you need to speak to a rep for more detailed information please contact us at 1(800)4-STAHLS
Does it work with 100% Cotton? Do you need a spray for cotton?
Hello. The Heat Transfer Foil is compatible with our CAD-CUT Adhesive, which must be cut and applied to the garment first. Check out this video for more information - ruclips.net/video/Vu7Ms1x9WVo/видео.html. Thanks!
algunos vinilos son para 50 lavadas y este método con adhesivo y aluminio cuántas lavadas dura?
Is the graphics only good for T-shirt kind of fabric? How about cotton, polyester, organizer, rayon, fabrics?
Question with the part of foil that didn't make the design can you use that part of foil over......to not waste it?
Hello,
Any piece of the foil that didn't stick to the adhesive can be re-used. :)
Very interesting just wandering about the machines how much price
Hello - you'll find all of our equipment here www.stahls.com/heat-presses-vinyl-cutters
Do you need to after press the garment?
how can i order some of the heat press trandfer ond foil.
is it possible to use photo shop application to the vinyl cutter
Vinyl cutters accept vector art. Photoshop creates raster art therefore, you will need Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator to create the art needed to cut.
Is it mirrored?
Actually no it’s not. When using heat transfer foil you don’t have to mirror the design before cutting it
Which software you used to cut the foil designs.
Hi Makarand - we have a couple of free options to cut these designs. Our Heat Transfer Vinyl Designer www.stahls.com/custom-htv-designer or Cadworxlive.com. We also offer custom transfers that we would cut out for you. www.stahls.com/cad-cut-custom-heat-transfers
do you ship international?
Hi so the adhesive works as the HTV? And is it always clear in color? Thanks

Hi - You'll find all wash instructions here: assets.stahls.com/stahls/content/pdf/techsheets/CAD-CUT-Adhesive-Foil.pdf
Awesome tutorial! Thank you!
Hi, The cover sheet has to be teflon or could be kraft paper?
I've heard that these shirts last between 20 to 25 washes, will putting it into the dryer deminish it's durability?
In many printing methods-I am already dizzy-can you tell me, if I buy the devices from STHALS,I mean graphic cutter, press ,printer, can use several methods for garments printing ? Thanks,Josh.
where do i buy designs so as to heat press directly as i can't design myself. Like the already designed heat foil .Thanks
You could always try Transfer Express. They have an online Easy View designer that will allow you to create screen printed transfers ready to heat apply upon receiving them.
Were can I purchase the adhesive from? I have foil already, just not the adhesive. I love the video, very helpful
You can purchase the adhesive from www.stahls.com
hi what printer did you use>
Can regular HTV be pressed over top of a foil graphic? So the layers would be white HTV then a layer of a foiled text and finishing with a smaller HTV text on top of the foil. Would this work?
hola donde puedo conseguir tu producto en Colombia y que tipo de telas usas para las camisetas? podrias darme el nombre de la tela por favor y del producto?
I ordered a Cameo 3. Will these materials work on that machine? I like the adhesive and foil design.
Yes, the adhesive can be cut on the Cameo!
I have a cricut and a heat press, do I need anything other than the stick paper and foil to make foil t-shirts.
Along with the CAD-CUT® Heat Press Adhesive, we recommend using a Kraft Cover Sheet to protect your heat press. Visit www.stahls.com/kraft-paper-cover-sheet for more information.
is Gildan 5000 ok to use ?
Yes, that style will work great.
If I start my own busines with a heat press, what should I start printing first, With no personal experience , Mugs T shirts or Hats ,
Creating t-shirts is super easy. Especially with Stahls' Hotronix Heat Presses and our Stahls' Cad-Cut material.
Do you deliver the products to India?
I'm interested in purchasing your leopard foil however I would like to try it out prior to purchasing a roll of your adhesive since they do not come in sheets. Will the foil work with Easy Weed adhesive since I already have some scrap sheets on hand ?
What is the name of blue paper you showed ???
Can this be used with a mug heat press on a sublimation mug? If so, I would assume the steps would be to pre-heat the mug, apply adhesive, low pressure tack for 5ish seconds, peel then application of foil, pressing with high pressure, allow mug to cool completely before foil removal. What would the press heat setting be? 300, like on a shirt? And would the press time be any different? Or is the 10 seconds sufficient? I also assume care would be hand wash only, no soaking, no harsh abrasives/scrubbing on the foiled surface. No microwaving.
Hello,
We have not yet tested Adhesive and foil on mugs yet. It can probably be done, but the durability of the adhesive / foil on the mug would be questionable.
the Heat Transfer Foil can be used for mugs, plates, plastics or just textile, and other applications we can use vinyl?
Hello,
The heat transfer foil and CAD-CUT® Adhesive will only work on textile applications.
For the full-digital transfer sheet are you able to print out a metallic color at all ? and do we just send off a vectorized image of the artwork ?
If you are cutting on a vinyl cutter there's no inks or printing involved. It is all different colored vinyl materials that are cut with a blade. The artwork associated with vinyl cutting is vector art.
Stahls' TV yes but in the case of ordering transfers isn’t that placing a order for sheets with the artwork ready to be pressed on ? the alternative to 4+ color designs ?
what types of haet transfer materials are there
What about doing a 'bleed' on the foil step? Make the foil slightly larger so the fashion film sits over top of the foil. That would eliminate the gaps in the register. Or would the fashion film not stick well to the foil? Would it cause durability issues?
Unfortunately the Fashion-FILM wouldn't stick very well to the foil and would more than likely cause future durability issues. We missed a step in our design process which usually eliminates that issue from occurring. Generally, we would create a bleed like you suggested, but instead of the bleed being created on the foil/adhesive portion, the Fashion-FILM portion would be slightly larger, allowing the adhesive to rest just on top of the Fashion-FILM, leaving no room for a gap. Because Fashion-FILM works perfectly as a background layer, you would achieve a seamless look with no durability issues. We learn from our mistakes! ;)
How do you transfer an image onto the adhesive? Can you print it from an image on your computer is what I'm asking considering that it's adhesive?
The adhesive material is cut on a vinyl cutter. The design that you will be cutting is sent to the cutter from a computer, but the adhesive itself is only cut, not printed on. Then you weed and heat apply the adhesive to your garment, and then cover with heat transfer foil and press.
Like using a Cricut Explore Craft cutting machine?
@@craftdcardsbydenicecavazos5088 yes
Can you use the transfer image multiple times? Or do you need to make a new one each time.
New one each time.
At 36.00 where you are doing the large love print would you not have used a pillow as I noticed there was a seem running below the vinyl. Thanks.
Technically you are correct but, there are a lot of factors that go into this. The garment being used is a fairly thin garment so the seams tend to not be as prominent. Additionally, the lower platen on Hotronix machines are silicone rubber so they do have a little bit of "give" to them that will allow the seam to sink into the platen. Also, if the design is far enough away from the seam you will still get even pressure. All of these factors allowed Josh to successfully heat apply this garment.
Thanks for a very comprehensive and prompt response!
WHERE DID YOU GET OU ROLLERS HOLDER???
i need that machine but i dont know where i will gate
is the foil washable?
