    I've seen heat transfers leave a clearish border around the designs. How can you avoid this with this method? So if your paper is 8x10 but your design is 7 x 9, there's a 1/2" of unused paper and even when you trim the paper, it leaves behind a little bit of the blank paper backing. I'm not sure I'm describing this correctly, but it's a little clear film and makes the garments look cheap.

      also, if you’re looking for people facing similar issues but can’t find many or none when googling then it’s safe to say that it could be an isolated case and probably something you’re doing wrong and need to go back and read the manual again etc etc... not saying you’re doing it wrong or anything just adding my 2 cents for future purpose.

      Every regular heat transfer leaves white borders because of the paper. You can buy easy weeding paper or you can use laser printers that hace papers that won’t leave the white border. Look it up it’s all over the internet.

    What tips do you recommend for sublimating on cotton tshirts?

    • @ricomatv
      @ricomatv  4 года назад +5

      Because of the way sublimation works, you won’t be able to sublimate onto cotton shirts since the ink won’t stick. The most you can do is 60% polyester/40% cotton and even then it will give you a faded vintage look. For printing on 100% cotton, a DTG printer is preferred or you can do heat transfer printing as described in the video.

    • @alfredoperez1950

    • @ricomatv
      @ricomatv  3 года назад +4

      Nope, it happens so quickly under the heat press that it’s not noticeable nor a concern at all

    • @HalfAssHomestead
      @HalfAssHomestead 3 года назад

      You won't even know the gas off is happening. Unless you forget to put a piece of butcher paper over the print area, or below the last one. Then you will see the ghosting that will be transferred from that point onward/.

    That's 3 steps.
    The Heat Transfer that I used to do did not require step 2. Print on the page with pigment ink (dye ink doesn't work because it's not waterfast and shifts color during the heating) and then transfer directly to a cotton T-shirt, no other steps required. You can PREpress the shirt if you want, but I often won't even do that.

    • @ricomatv
      @ricomatv  8 дней назад

      Hi! Thank you! Sublimation is generally safe and doesn’t release toxic fumes, but proper ventilation is recommended. Use approved materials and follow correct heat press settings to ensure a smooth process. Let me know if you have more questions! 😊

    I’m still using Vinyl but I’m ready to upgrade. Ordered a sawgrass sublimation printer then cancelled it because I saw OKI white toner printer doing heat transfer now I’m hearing it can do both. My question is does the printer have to be flushed?

      The OKI printer can’t do both heat transfer and sublimation. The Ricoma R550 white toner transfer printer can do both. The printer does not have to be flushed because it is not ink-based, it uses toner.
