Such a beautiful song!
It took me a while to understand why it evokes so much emotion so simply.
I think it touches on a universal truth: everyone knows in their bones that there's something great- just beyond themselves- to strive for.
Call me weird, but I kinda like this version better than the Peter schilling version
I prefer the Peter Schilling version but this one's good as well
same
I think they're both equally great!
I wouldn't call u weird at all.I agree with u, cause I just found the original a few days ago and I remember the tune from when I was a little kid in the early 80's. Needless to say the nastelga came flooding in and I found this version is every bit as good with a thing or 2 extra that I just can't put my finger on.
The choir has to do this for the finals of glee and It is so much better then space man
This is an amazing song. It kinda puts into perspective that we've now sent a man to the edge of space. Imagine what he felt like. Seeing nothing, hearing nothing, knowing that he was the only human being out there. Looking down on our planet, seeing the clouds swirl and the various oceans and continents. It must have been beautiful and terrifying at the same time...
Ever since I seen that they used this song for the Lincoln MK-Z commercial, now I cant stop listening to this song
:)
Who ever made that commercial needs a damn medal, they have so many people watching it just for the song.
epic song btw.
Wow i never thought i would find this song! I heard the chorus on a lincoln commercial and i had no idea what the lyrics were or who the artist was. It took me forever!
I want to listen the part 2:58 to 4:00 when I die. The entire music is absolutely awesome, but the the ending part is just fuck*** perfect.
+Andrew Houlyn You censored the part that is frowned upon
I censored it all wrong, lol.
how did you even manage that
Man, I just realized it now. No idea.
Lol
I remember the original version when it came out when I was ten years old. Thanx for covering this song.
I friggen love this song... I remember this particular video from like a million years ago, forgot about it, and have been trying to find it ever since. Now the song is stuck in my head forever.
My MKZ came preloaded with this and other shiny toy gun songs, never heard of them before this, but man is it great.
hell, i'm 50 and have just found it here because i wanted to know what the hell this song fantastique was i've heard with car commercials; had never ever heard it previous!
It was driving me nuts ever since I saw the car commercial that I COULD NOT find this song....glad someone I knew told me what it was called. =D
i found about this song cause of the mkz commercials.
love it, love it, baby.
I used to listen to this on the way to school. God, I love this.
For those who havent pieced it together yet, Major Tom in the song is an alien, disguised as a human. Why would he say "im coming home" when hes stranded out in space? Because space is his home. Or, "now the light commands", the light being a tractor beam or something from his home planet or mother space ship, is pulling the ship towards it. Just take a listen again, it all fits, took me some time to piece that together
"fart beneath the ship, the world is mourning, they don't realize He's alive" No one understands; now Major Tom sees...
Every song tells a story~gotta love that. Escape (The Pina Colada Song) tells of a couple growing bored of eachother and finding something new.
This one tells us that a man christened "Major Tom" is stuck in space with a supercomputer.
I just saw this band LIVE at Pantherfest in Milwaukee!!! They're pretty awesome in their live performances!
I love this song. so cool. take me back to the 80,s
I heard this on the Lincoln car commercial and now i freakin love it ;D
this song rocks all day it never gets old
Excellent remake. I love her voice.
If I remember correctly its the idea that Major Tom and the crew are left alone, floating in orbit by themselves. They eventually die, because the original lyrics is "he sees the LIGHT calling," implying he is dead.
This gives me goosebumps from the memories.
This is definitely one of the better remakes of a song I've heard in a long time. Beautiful
finally mad it home, great vocals haunting lyrics, now on my list of fav's
Maybe the best song with lyrics I've seen so far :) I especially like the view of the earth from space during long pauses ^^
This song is epic! I listened to it all day!
this song is just amazing, calm, intense, satisfying, peaceful, space! jeez i cannot list all the words that describe this song its just freaking awesome!!!!
saw this commercial as well and its Just Awesome!!
As with any cover, it has to be made a wicked tribute - this one did imo, very nice indeed!
To understand the whole song, you need to be familiar with the song by David Bowie called "Space Oddity". It talks about the space liftoff and a communication malfunction that he experiences. So he is communicating to them to tell his wife he loves her, and then they assume he is dead after that. But Tom keeps trying to call home to let them know he's alive
When she sings the chorus it sounds amazing
wow this is a great song her voice is very calming.
I liked this song the first time I heard it, now that I know the lyrics I like it even better, very touching song. She has an AMAZING voice.
@RJLupin6 You're half right. The original song by Peter Schilling was a nod. This is a cover of that nod.
Yea! Finally the full version.
I love this song. :))
shiny toy guns, one of my fav bands of all time.
This song definitely makes lincoln commercials awesome:)
I love the voice of the girl, good beats n all, one of ma fav songs now, Thanks for the lyrics :)
I'm gonna cry... this is a good video.
i love this song. it took me a while to realized what it was called, after seeing it on the linkin car commercial.
As Major Tom floats through space, he realizes he was home all along.
This song gives me goosebumps every time.
Thank you :) I wish anyone who made a lyrics video would spend at least 5 minutes getting the timing right
Yo, this song has vibe and isn't the usual generic misery machine about some guy loosing his girl.
Songs that tell a story are what music should be all about.
Go Major Tom!
There is an english version from Peter Schilling as well. It's the exact same words as this toy gun version. The shiny toy guns are basically doing a Kareokee version of a song they liked haha.
How could you NOT like this song?
This is a Great song, Like what you did wiith the lyrics always had trouble hearing some of the parts, also great use of the pictures. Subscribed.
@krown109 It's basically a sequel to David Bowie's song "Space Oddity". In that song, an astronaut, Major Tom, gets lost in space, and in this song, that same guy actually makes his way back home. I think it's a pretty creative idea by Peter Schilling, or whoever wrote this song. Btw, the Shiny Toy Gun version is a remake of Peter Schilling's song, which was actually first written in German.
Love this version su much!!
I love songs that have stories. Especially ones about sabotaged space flights.
and it's "Give my wife my love AND nothing more". It's a phrase.
excellent cover and flawlessly timed lyrics. nice.
this song makes me happy as hell
@machth9 thats commercial is the best car comercial ever
I agree with you, actually. This version is perfect. The more I listen to it, the more I want to hear more songs like it. She really does have a nice voice, very emotional.
I agree. A wonderful cover!
To MLBuckProductions: You deserve an award for this video! I don't know if anyone else has brought this to your attention before or not, but at the 1:25 mark, the word 'running' is spelled 'runnning' . Other than that, a perfect video for a great song.
i first heard this version a few years back you guess the damn lincholn commercial and it drove me nuts i liked it loved this girls voice but didnt know what it was finally after a week or so of searching i wrote down the lyrics when it came on back then i had dial up you can guess how painful that was i went and typed in the lyrics i had to metrolyrics found and came to youtube with the title again dial up so waiting for this song to buffer out so i could listen to it yeah i waited and got it
I had heard this song once before, but I didn't know what it was until my boyfriend let me listen to it in his car. Love it! =)
One of the very few songs that actually tell a visual story in your head.
You did an AMAZING job with this song in the video. If only you had "light" fixed within the video instead of the edit on top of "lite" but other than that, this was beautiful. Thank you!
This is one of my dad's favorite songs xD I got into it because I heard him play it one day.
love this version
Well first off, this song was originally made by peter shilling. The original song as well as this is a follow up to David Bowie's song "Space Oddity". where at the end of the song Major Tom is stuck in space. this song brings our hero major tom back from floating in his tin can.
Actually, the shiny toy guns weren't the first to do this. David Bowie was, so he coulda been looking for it, but just found the name of the song, thanks to this.
Shiny Toy Guns did a great job. I love this just as much as the original. (:
So beautiful
good song to listen too if i could get back on my fsx again because it sounds like a good song to do stunts too.
@MLBuckProductions
Yes and no, they used the LEM in Apollo 13 as a life boat after the O2 tanks exploded. To date im not sure how accurate the movie was, but the Apollo 13 Disaster did involve some incredible human engineering to overcome, they did survive and there are some similarities to this song.
her voice is incredible.
@Phillo127 i was lucky and i heard it on the radio 2 days after i saw that commercial
instant goosebumps at 3:35. Great fucking song. My brother got me hooked on this version.
@Perri191 This song is a continuation of Space Oddity by David Bowie, a song about an astronaut stranded in space by a malfunction in his ship, forced to spend the rest of his days shooting across the universe with no hope of returning.
I hate how so many people don't like this song JUST because it's different from the original. Just look at it like it wasn't a cover, THEN decide if it's good or bad. I love this and the original by Peter Schilling. Both of them are really good, in my opinion.
I love this song.
The last shuttle went up today.
And the whole time i just kept singing this song.
LOVE THIS SONG!
I don't know exactly how you people feel about this song, but for me It feels like this: I was living before this life somewhere in spaceship, it crashes because of asteroid and me with my girl which I loved very much we are in spacesuits (spacesuits looks futuristic) and slowly taken by planet gravitation, and we will die soon, we are huging each other for last time and the burden of this song comes to my head. The refrain is insane, I get some unknown memories?! It feels so good.
love this song so damn much
Yeah! The commercial is what inspired me to make the video, as well :)
most epic chorus evar!!!!
I remember when this was in the car commercial XD
It's a lot happier than the original story of Major Tom. At least he lives in this one, eh?
Love this song!!!!
beautiful freaking voice..
DUDE IT'S SO GOOD!!! this is like one of the few songs that i prefer is better than the original!
Yes. Peter Schilling did a continuation of Bowie's song. This is a cover of Peter's song.
@chewylikesit The original by Schilling isn't a direct cover, though it has some of the same basic lyrics. When I wrote what I wrote, I was more saying that the lyrics were a nod to David Bowie's (although, I had no knowledge of the Schilling version, what I said still holds though) so that people could see the more linear version (so they could see more what the song was about).
wow epic, first time I heard this song.
The first one you can easily find if you go to google and search "horizont" (yes with a t at the end) and it's the second image. (not web search, image search)
Awesome. ^_^ I like her voice a lot.
@MLBuckProductions LEM Lunar Excursion Module. It's what the astronauts landed on the moon with. Apollo 13 was able to survive by abandoning the main capsule for the LEM. They had to cut it loose before re-entry.
...semplicemente geniale questo remix... drifting... floating...yuhuuuuuuuuuu
It's about an astronaut named Major Tom.
So are the songs Space Oddity (it was the original Major Tom song), Ashes To Ashes, and Hallo Spaceboy....all of which are by David Bowie.
cant wait to drive somewhere so i can listen to this in the car lol.. just put it on my iphone :)
It's like, very soothing and mysterious :p
I LURV IT SO MUCH ... while I wuz asleep this wuz playing in my head
0:00-0:18
AMAZING EFFECTS!!!
Roid Rage brought me here, i just hope no flesh eating monster doesn't creep outta my ass now.
love this song!!!!
