Excellent review of a good premium.
The J7W's also have canards on the front of their nose. Part of why their maneuverability feels so good, as you started explaining at 15:50 is certainly the rudder authority and the rear mounted engine, but I would honestly say the canards out front have a much larger role to play.
Typically, aircraft with canards are inherently less stable than those with the standard tail configurations in the rear. While this doesnt sound like a good thing at first, for planes like the J7's (or the XP55 at t6) this instability makes it to where they can turn on a dime.
Modern fighters like the F16 are purpose built to be fast and unstable, to maximize their maneuverability. However canards do have flaws, which is why you dont see them too often irl.
Planes with canards tend to be a bit slower, and harder to maintain for ground crews. So, while yes the rear mounted engines in game can power you through a turn, none of the pusher prop aircraft have ever really been that fast. Generally, a more standard tail configuration, or some kind of "V" shape is ideal for faster aircraft.
That is 100% true...but there is no canard setting in WoWp really...heck there isn't even really a physics engine for it to affect. It's just how good the controls are in the x,y, and z axes, right? 😀
i have this plane i found it hard to play.
It's just stiff enough to be uncomfortable. I had to run maneuver gear and go ahead and step it up to Improved to get it to a place where it felt good.
