Shane, I know that you made this video years ago, but this is exactly what I was looking for. I am going to get this down while locked down at my house and furloughed from work. I have it bookmarked on my browser. I got a good two months wide open to practice. Thanks brother! (I am also ordering a stubby slide from your site)
Not just a great lesson, but a crucial technique you have to learn to be able to play cbg. It does take a while to get this down ~ a long while for some of us! But you gotta get it down. Thanks, Shane!
"What you play with your left hand is what you learned; what you play with your right hand is who you are." - Shane Speal. Damn... That's fucking beautiful.
I bought Taj Mahal's first album in 1970 and followed him since. Paul Butterfield was about the same time for me with Charlie Musselwhite backing. I like what you are playing and it's classy like the musicians mentioned above and I only heard about you 10 years ago.
Shane, thank you for these videos, they're a tremendous help for a beginner and a continued source of inspiration for new techniques now that I'm a little more comfortable. Any chance we could get a breakdown of what you're playing in the very beginning?
Awesome tips, Mr Shane! I have to try it when I get back home. Oh! And I can't get tired of seeing this nice tattoo of Wesseh's instrument!! It's a wonderful tribute and fits your arm very well!!
Photography…. I tell people to sit on the couch or out in the backyard and just take photos of stuff. Stuff in shadows, stuff in bright light, stuff any stuff. Get the settings down, look at the settings that get the best results, shoot something else in the same lighting. Learn what the different settings do. Get that down pat so when you go out to take photos or whatever you remember the settings are that get you close to what you want. Keep it up. Your eye is the rhythm and your adjustments are technique.
Shane, Do I have the counting right? 1 2 3+4 Thumb pinch thumb index thumb? Also can you point me to a Taj Mahal song where he is clearly using this style. Thanks for all your videos. I enjoy them.
Shane Speal Good job man👍 Better to do it on your own. My BP went to 230/130 My doc took alcohol, sugar and caffeine away and put me on 6 pills a day. 53 years young and I have a cardiologist. Lol

Do I have the counting right?
1 2 3+4
Thumb pinch thumb index thumb?
Also can you point me to a Taj Mahal song where he is clearly using this style.
Thanks for all your videos. I enjoy them.
Great video, Shane! Since you mentioned Taj Mahal, any chance you could do a "Queen Bee" tutorial?
a lot of words in beginning. Start 3:50
I got it, finally! LOL!
Thanx Shane I'm learning tons... like how much I sound like a wounded cat.
This is sort of like thumb-lead two-finger banjo.
Cool lesson👍
Are you using a new camera lens or are you losing weight. Lol
Thanks
Down 65 pounds from my heaviest. Feels pretty damn good, too!
Shane Speal
Good job man👍
Better to do it on your own.
My BP went to 230/130
My doc took alcohol, sugar and caffeine away and put me on 6 pills a day.
53 years young and I have a cardiologist. Lol
Been grumbling about my weight for years. It was all due to my wife's help that I succeeded.
Watch some Justin Johnson for finger picking.
