I find it hilarious that the best use of Genex was as a Trishula engine more so than anything to do with with Genex synchros. And all because of a weird wording loophole involving Machine Duplication, which allowed any Genex monster whose name got copied by Genex Spare to be mass summoned because it's based on the stats of the card present, not the ones about to be summoned (so have Spare copy any lvl4 Genex monster's name to special summon 2 of said monsters and then synchro into Trishula). For context, Locomotion R Genex can be summoned this way but no one would choose that over freaking Trishula.
I feel bad for Genex... Many Archetypes from the past were also considered 'Bad' or 'Unplayable', but they still got some Decent Support after some time, like the 'Ice Barriers' or 'T.G.s', hopefully someday they get the same treatment.
Yes and Ally of Justice will be a top tier deck, Konami abandoned those card since Genex had good ideas but were mismanaged beyond salvage heck Ice Barriers were more playable then Genex, at least Wet Lands Beat down was fun for Ice Barriers and the Synchros were and still some of the most powerful cards in YuGiOh history even with the prevalence of other cards Thrish is still a card to be feared in any Synchro Deck.
There is no few set of cards that can salvage Allies of Justice. The only way to do it would be going the vampire route and doing a full archetypal remake giving them an entirely new gimmick

that is mostly the first arc of Duel terminal: 90% percent awful cards, 2 or 3 busted cards. It is curious that genex and ally of justice were mostly the main decks ones the OP instead of extra deck like ice barrier or naturia
Genex feels like one of those archetypes that a character from newer seasons of the anime uses and makes look cool (as long as you don't notice they have won like 3 duels in the whole series)
I love the duellogs curse Makes a video that trashtalks an archetype, same archetype gets support within a week (3 days in this case) xD. Well, time to see what duellogs will say after seeing the new support

That might have actually worked if their tuner wasn't utter trash, or their effects actually did *anything* to turbo out their single tuner, since Tuner options were so limited in early Synchro format even Flamvell Magician saw play. Even a passable synchro with generic materials, like Ally of Justice got, would have worked better. Of course, they couldn't do that because Synchron *already* took the theme of machine monsters that turboed out synchro monsters, and that actually produced a decent number of useful support cards (even if they were never really great as a pure archetype).
Please do "Charmers - Failed Cards, Archetypes, and Sometimes Mechanics". I want that archetype to actually be usable. Also doubles as failed mechanic, since Charmers have the super majority of monsters that summon *themselves* from the main deck.

From what I noticed from the Video, most of the Genex monsters (At least the First ones), had some Decent Effects that just weren't properly used due to the fact that they would mostly require your Normal summon, more ways to Special summon could be good, but what if they had more ways to Normal summon as well? Maybe if they had a card with an effect like 'You can Normal Summon 1 'Genex' monster in addition to your Normal Summon' or something, maybe a Field/Continuous Spell, that could make it the first one of the Archetype, maybe with another card that could search it? I feel like that could help.
@@Azrayel488 Yeah the Attribute manipulation powers of some of these Genex Ally monsters were so underwhelming! It’s no Wonder why out of the Whole Sub-Archetype! Only 4 cards stood out and only 1 Synchro was even worth playing! Genex Ally Axel and Birdman (mainly Birdman) are really the best Monsters out of the Entire series, as Axel is a Synchro that has Decent attack stats, can summon and also boost Attack Scores for the Cards he summons! While Birdman is a lesson in Synergistic Card design that Works! He not only summons himself, but he both boosts his own attack, and changes his own attribute! But overall he just sends a monster back to the hand because he’s ment to reflect the “Mist Valley” clan! It’s no wonder why this card by itself lasted so long! It just makes so much sense, it hurts! Which tells me that NONE Of the Other Cards Ever Did this! Duradark was a great anti-Dark tool! But none of the others Changed their Type or Attribute in ways that would work with Flamvells, XX Sabers, Ice Barriers, or even their namesake AOJs (Ally of Justice)! Nor did these cards Give benefits or Drawbacks for “Light” Based decks! I mean what even is the point of these cards if their Don’t trigger off of Attributes that you or your opponent have?!
Honestly, If they had spell and combo starter to summon more of Genex, it would make them way better and I can see the fire ones being decent burn deck option.
YO IS THAT A RANK10YGO REFERENCE?! I so badly want this deck to get support. I know it's unlikely because it's a generic synchro pile that weirdly exist for draft like formats, but still, I believe in the Genex cause!
For a deck that seems to want to use attributes as it's primary gimmick, I can't believe they didn't at least give a field spell that let's you change attributes on the field. I don't think this would make the deck meta, but at least you could have fun while playing it.
Locomotion Genex is a fav of mine and has actually pulled me out of a loss on the very rare occasions I brought it out, but yes, it's costly, but I wouldn't say it's awful. A Friend of mine suggested to me that because Locomotion Genex is my fav monster that I should build a Genex deck, and just now, basically sent him this video.
Amazing how they screwed it up when they had a non once per turn burn effect in the form of Genex Solar. With so much Machine support nowadays, one would've figured a Solar FTK should have caused Konami problems.
I think Genex could be fixed by adding a field spell which allows one additional normal summon of a Genex monster, a continuous spell to add a Genex monster to the hand whenever a Genex monster is summoned and a continuous trap which gives you life points equal to the Genex monsters used for a synchro summon and return one of the materials to the hand.
A lot of these old abandoned archetypes could be blanket fixed by just giving each one a non-interactable field spell that is guaranteed to go off whenever and gives the archetype all the modern functions they need to at least be rogue, with extremely strict restrictions against generic usage. That 1 card could then be retrained every time power creep gets far enough. Not sure if anyone who doesn't play those archetypes would appreciate that becoming the standard though.
also they needed a card to change attribute freely as continuous spell/trap or field spell for the normal summon, maybe they can get something like " Ultimate Offering" exclusively for Genex
Fast forward to october 13th 2023 we get new genex support willed into existence. Wish i had your infinity stones, could do with some fortune lady and gravekeeper support
Maybe do Dream Mirror next. Its really sad as that archetype has a really interesting theme, but the way it has to rely on two bad field spells to do anything really hampers it. Not helped by the fact that the effects of its various member, while good, are not good enough for the amount of effort you have to go through to use them.
DT 1-2 archetype are wild, they make these archetype that relies on other of their member to gain their effect, without any ability for them to swarm the field
Don't forget about Samurai Destroyer. That monster is generic with a solid 2600 attack value. Also it negates the opposing monster's effect when they are destroyed. Making them unable to activate anything. I tried liking Genex in Duel Links but I found them impractical. I saw some good players on Master Duels though.
I mean i remember Genex as being absolutely nuts and stomping through Rata's "War of the Worthless" winners bracket, the key thing that made the deck broken was "Genex Recycled," which along with "machine duplication" allowed tye player to regularly do things like summon 2 blast fan, search 2 cards including Birdman and then just comboing off.

Maybe if they had a card with an effect like 'You can Normal Summon 1 'Genex' monster in addition to your Normal Summon' or something, maybe a Field/Continuous Spell, that could make it the first one of the Archetype, maybe with another card that could search it? I feel like that could help.
The first wave was something , but their entire gameplay shifted with the Genex Ally . They went from doing stuff to Attribute manipulation .
@@Azrayel488
Yeah the Attribute manipulation powers of some of these Genex Ally monsters were so underwhelming!
Genex’s support would be like Watt where it’s super bloated and try to solve all the decks issues in 4 cards
Acting as if I'll have a problem with that
it needs (at least) a field spell for swarming, a better cynet codec, and synchros worth going into
If I told you what I think of genex 1. Birdman is great, and 2. TRAIN
3 days before Genex got new support in the new duel terminal packs coming out.
Oof
konami took this video very personally
Wow! What a weird archetype that existed in that specific era. Kinda wish they got Support ngl. Like an Ultimate Offering on Legs.
They did! Their new Link supports the R-Genex Crusher loop
Did you post this before or after looking at the news?
@@CrnaStrela After.
I was attempting to do this thing called "Comedy"
3 days later, konami announces genex support
4 days later, new genex support were annaunced
Lmao they literally just released new support for Genex. I'd like to see a follow up video for it
For a deck that seems to want to use attributes as it's primary gimmick, I can't believe they didn't at least give a field spell that let's you change attributes on the field.
I don't think this would make the deck meta, but at least you could have fun while playing it.
whose here after the new support
What a timing for this video man
Locomotion Genex is a fav of mine and has actually pulled me out of a loss on the very rare occasions I brought it out, but yes, it's costly, but I wouldn't say it's awful. A Friend of mine suggested to me that because Locomotion Genex is my fav monster that I should build a Genex deck, and just now, basically sent him this video.
Well shit , What unfortunate timing. Still wish they could get a spellcard or two cause unless you are superheavy samurai there is no reason not to.
I second doing Ursarctic next. That archetype is so horrible that a card giving +6 in card advantage isn't even worth playing for. That's so insane.
The deck is like, aight in TCG due to their recent support (though of course not viable), and is currently a meta deck in Duel Links
Welp........ 3 day laters they announced some new genex support and funny enough, they havent announced a spell/trap card for them lol
Amazing how they screwed it up when they had a non once per turn burn effect in the form of Genex Solar.
With so much Machine support nowadays, one would've figured a Solar FTK should have caused Konami problems.
When are we getting a Mr Logs and Rata crossover?
Top 10 archetype archives when?
Can you make one about ally of justice now, so they can get some busted support too?
I’m saddened by the poor quality of genex cards, they have such cool looking art, i have some of the synchros in secret rare and they look amazing
Not sure if anyone who doesn't play those archetypes would appreciate that becoming the standard though.
it's a dire situation that I can say that I'm not sure a better cynet codec would be good enough lmao
also they needed a card to change attribute freely as continuous spell/trap or field spell
for the normal summon, maybe they can get something like " Ultimate Offering" exclusively for Genex
*Kicks open the nonexistent door* Genex just got new support cards!
Please DuelLogs talk about dream mirror in the next video so we get new support 🙏
Bro just missed Timing 😂
Fast forward to october 13th 2023 we get new genex support willed into existence. Wish i had your infinity stones, could do with some fortune lady and gravekeeper support
Well.......new support for this archetype announced.
This video did NOT age well !
Came here after new Genex support, thank you man for raising awareness or something, I'm sure you did this in some way
Genex Just had new support revealed
a new synchro 10, a link 1 and 2 new main deck effect monsters.
I wonder if Konami did it on purpose.
How is it possible that a couple of days after this video gen x support was revealed in the newest box😂
and suddenly genex became PROBABLY tier 1, but at least a tier 2 deck guaranteed
11:32 I dont know why, but i kinda liked this little bit pitched voice in combination with the maybe sarcasm tone. Had to laugh
The Genex effect monsters just add cards from the deck to the hand but with no reason, with no sense, with no flavor. 😬
it goes well with R-Accelerator except Kite for some reason.
@@kappadarwin9476 I'd guess accelerator misses timing, it's an optional when effect
Damn bro just willed genex support into reality
Maybe do Dream Mirror next.
Its really sad as that archetype has a really interesting theme, but the way it has to rely on two bad field spells to do anything really hampers it. Not helped by the fact that the effects of its various member, while good, are not good enough for the amount of effort you have to go through to use them.
I think Rata calling them the worst archetype ever (or at the very least the worst Duel Terminal archetype) is warranted
no lmfao, look at their war of the worthless performance
The last Genex Ally wave actually would make for a decent srategy game with them as units.^^
Rata changed the way we see genex
love the archetypes videos
Genex support update today new card synchro name A.O.G and new main monters deck and new link 1 monters
Oi, ninjas got their act together, you take that back.
And today the announced supports for genex😂
DT 1-2 archetype are wild, they make these archetype that relies on other of their member to gain their effect, without any ability for them to swarm the field
Red Dragon ARCHFIEND got some good support recently.
Sure, don't forget Labrynth ARCHFIEND did got some love too...
RE doesn't synergize with OG Archfiends aside of few cards like Falling down
Top 10 "Umi" field cards and support cards that references "Umi" in their text.
how coincidence that they got the support right after this video
Don't forget about Samurai Destroyer. That monster is generic with a solid 2600 attack value. Also it negates the opposing monster's effect when they are destroyed. Making them unable to activate anything.
I tried liking Genex in Duel Links but I found them impractical. I saw some good players on Master Duels though.
Adding "Archetypes" has this example makes so much more sense.😁😁😁
OH NO! This video aged too badly too quickly!
Can you make a video on Eldlich or Toons next? Hoping to get some support for those two next :)
"Probably being used in masterduel by like 5 players" 😂😂😂I fucking died
And from the rubble a new wave of support arrives
